CHAPTER 1
Once Upon a Time…
It was dark in the woods. Too dark. Suddenly an old woman speaks.
"Kill her."
"No! My baby! Mother, please! I have a child now! Please don't take me away from Xiao Lang! HE NEEDS ME!" The young woman pleaded. The baby in the woman's arms started to wail.
"No, Yelan! You are not worthy of raising the next leader of the Li Clan!"
"But he is my child! Please mother!"
The old woman glanced at her and sighed angrily.
"I am not your mother! My son is dead. You killed him. Therefore, you are no longer apart of this family."
"MOTHER PLEASE!"
"Kill her."
"NOOOOOO!"
A gunshot is heard.
"WAAAAA!"
"Sonomi, take the child. You will be his mother now."
FIVE YEARS LATER
"Mommy, can you tell me a story?"
"Sure, Syoaran, honey. Alright, Syaoran, I think it is time for you to know about your true heritage."
Little Syoaran nodded eagerly.
"Okay, Mommy."
"Are you ready? Alright, let's see…Your true name is Li Xiao Lang."
"Really? I always thought I was Daidouji Syaoran."
"No. Okay, how 'bout we start at the beginning?"
"Okay, Mommy!"
"Once upon a time, a man named Li Sheng You fell in love with a beautiful woman and married her."
"Ooooh, I like this story. Tell me more, mommy!"
"Alright. The happy couple had a baby, and that baby was you. But one sad day…" Sonomi paused, her face became dark.
"What? What happened Mommy?"
"One day, the lady killed…she killed...Sheng You." She finished and burst into tears.
Little Syoaran's eyes widened and he gasped.
"Mommy, you killed daddy?! I…I don't like this story no more!"
"Syoaran, I'm not your real mother. Her name was Gou Yelan."
The little boy started to sob and looked pleadingly into his "mother's" eyes .
"But, but, you ARE my mommy! You ARE! YOU HAVE TO BE!!!"
"Let me finish the story."
"NOO! I don't like this!!!"
"You have to understand; you would have found out anyway. It was better to tell you now than later."
"Okay ::sniff:: go ahead, but I won't like it!!"
"Well, Li Mei Rou, your grandmother found out about this and got angry. She ordered someone to lead Yelan into the woods. I followed your grandmother, her 'people', and Yelan there. Oh, it was so horrible! Your grandmother ordered them to kill Yelan with you in her arms! I-I'm so sorry Syaoran!"
She sobbed and took the already sobbing child into her arms.
"LET GO OF ME!!! LEAVE ME ALONE!!"
