A girl in an US Airforce uniform with long glowing blonde hair stared
at the thing in front of her. She was only thirteen, and very mature and
young to handle a situation such as this one.
An earthquake shook the building she was in, electrical circuits were now open, sparks shooting everywhere. Everyone she now knew was dead, or dying, and the gunshots were closer.
But still she remained, as one of the two only survivors of the underground and top-secret building.
She had to wait for him...she couldn't just leave him behind. She had to wait patiently, so she had her strange and otherworldly gun poised to fire, her hands unnaturally steady.
Finally, she saw him in the distance, running through a corridor from a steel door that raised open. She was relieved to see him alive, but that quickly changed when she saw their enemies, the ones that destroyed her home, following behind him.
The boy stumbled on a pile of rubble that was once the roof of the building, and inadvertently, the girl started to come towards him to help him up.
"Go, now! Run, go through it!" he yelled at her.
"No! I'm not going to just leave you behind!" she shouted back, but she knew better.
"You have to! They'll catch us both if you don't!" he shouted. Then, in a more steady and calmer tone, he added, "Don't worry, I'll be alright."
"I'm so sorry!" she yelled. She was sorry that she made that one mistake on the last mission, so sorry that she couldn't be in his place right now, sorry that she had told him to go, sorry that his life was about to be taken, and not hers.
"Don't be," he said, his voice still calm.
Their enemies were approaching closer, the sound of their metal shoes on the ground getting louder. Another small earthquake made them aware of that.
"Go! Now! Quickly, before they come. I'll watch your back, don't worry!" he shouted.
"But—" she started.
"GO!" he said, as their enemies came at him. "It was an honor serving with you." he said, his voice loud but steady.
She turned around, facing the object that was now in front of her, the portal to another world, another dimension, another reality. She touched the mirror which showed not her reflection, but a place she knew she was safe, but hoped welcomed.
A brief five-second shocking sensation filled her entire body as if she was struck by lightning.
She gave a longing sigh as she entered "Area 51", as her molecules were being slowly taken apart and reintegrating them on the opposite side of the mirror.
She turned around to face the place where she had just come from, and saw the boy as he was shot by their enemies.
"It was an honor to serve with you, too." she said as she let the guards take her away.
This is my first SG fic, so please be kind, rewind...wait that's not it. Ah, here we go: Please be nice and review, and try to wait for chapter 2. :D I like that better. This may very well take a while, so keep trying for chapter 2 and 3 and...well, I really don't know how long it'll be. Sorry for that to be so short, but it was more like a prologue really.
