Author's Note: I haven't seen anyone write a story about
Midoriko before and I really like her character. This is set a few years
before she created the Shikon No Tama. I hope you like it.

Prologue: So it says....
There is a legend of a beautiful miko. Her powers were quite deadly when used against demons. Her powers were also used to heal humans. What set her apart from ather mikos was that she was a warrior. Instead of depending on her powers she took up the sword. She defeated many youkai that came to kill her.
However, one tragic night she died. It was a last attempt to destroy the youkai that threatened her. From her own heart she created the Shikon No Tama. In doing this she killed the demon and herself. Her body still lies in that fateful resting place alond with the demons wrapped around her. The where they fought is located near a taij-ya village.
The whole event is what we know. Imagine what we don't. Shouldn't she have been able to fight the demon off like she had so many before? Perhaps there was another reason behind her death. It is the same reason that the Shikon No Tama can be tainted so easily. A selfish thought running through her mind. A death wish. But why?
Lost love is why. This story contains the lost chapters of Midoriko's life. In the war the waged for years she fell in love with the enemy. And he her. Many things happened during the was to give it a fitting name.
This is the legend of the War of the Monsters.
Author's Note: I hoped you liked it. I've wanted to write this fic ever since I saw the episode she was in. I finally got around to it. I just always thought that there should be more to her story.
