I don't own anything!
WOW! New chapter after three months? I went from no inspiration to all inspiration and I think I'm on the right track to writing this fic again! Yay for us!!! Ok, I have some news though. This will probably be the last fic I write, because I want to start concentrating on original. I'm not into DBZ as much as I used too, and writing fics of other series seem really weird to me. I just can't do it.
I didn't really check for grammar in this chapter (too excited to get it up), so don't hold and grudges if there's a few mistakes. If it's really bad, let me know. Sorry for the random gaps. When I uploaded this, I lost the characters I put to separate the POVs. So that's the explanation for those. I hope they don't get in the way of reading.
Bad formatting may be a problem too. I don't know why it's happening. Please bear with me.
Ok, so, this chapter is dedicated to Myshel and GD, because they have both been awesome in waiting and giving me inspiration to write! Love you girlies!
Enjoy and review!
If I go crazy then will you still call me superman
If I'm alive then will you be there holding my hand
I'll keep you by my side with my super human mind
Kryptonite
3 Doors Down
"You must be crazy" Gohan said with a shocked look on his face, "You must be absolutely insane. Me, fighting her?"
"No, not insane. You are going to test her power." The voice spoke with a commanding voice.
You don't understand though. I'll hurt her. Her power is nothing compared to mine. I'd crush her with one punch if I'm not careful. I don't want to risk it." Gohan said, sitting down in a provided chair. He ran his hand through his spiked hair. He had to avoid fighting her at all costs. It did not matter if he missed fighting. Even if he did want to fight again, he would never battle Videl. It would be absolutely unfair. Gohan knew that Videl would be crushed if they fought, and he would never be able to live with hurting his best friend.
Gohan looked at the ground, and then at the blank wall. He blinked a couple of times, noticed that the wall was not blank. A window showed to another room. A girl sat in a corner, her knees raised to her chest. She gently rocked back and forth, her eyes darting around aimlessly.
He kicked the chair back and ran to the window. Banging on it, Gohan screamed her name time and again, wanting her to look at him. He was worried that she had been hurt. Giving the window one last bang with his fist, Gohan sighed in frustration, "Why isn't she answering? Why?" He asked.
"One way mirror"
It was the only answer he received. Looking through the mirror, Gohan observed Videl's state. Physically she seemed fine, but her lips were quivering. They seemed to be forming words…
You're okay…you're okay…you're okay…you're okay…you're okay…
Videl swayed back and forth on the ground. What was going on? She simply did not understand. Did she kill someone? Did she bring forth a higher power, one that the scientists were too afraid of?
No, Videl refused to believe it. She was normal Videl who went to school with the occasional crime fighting on the side. Okay, so maybe the crime fighting turning into everyday, but she could not sit by and watch the police not do their job. Someone had to keep the city in order during the day. If she did nothing, chaos would ensue. She had to help by fighting, if she liked it or not. Even if it killed her, she would continue fighting.
Even if it killed someone else.
Videl stood up and paced across the room. The steps were slow and long at first. Each turn would turn into a quicker step until she was speed walking at a brisk pace. Her hands moved as she spoke to herself. One would think that she was having a conversation with another person, using her hands as a tool to help explain a point.
"Okay, so this is what happened." She said to herself, "You were shot down, and attacked. Then, you started to lose control as you took more hits. Finally, that power took over you, and you carved your first initial into the guy's stomach. Got it." Videl stopped and took in a deep breath, "Damn it!" She screamed loudly, "Why me!?" She started to pace back and forth again, "I had everything under control! I had it all in check! Why did I lose control? Why?!" She slammed her back into the wall and covered her face with her hands, "I'm a monster," she said slowly and quietly, as to let the words sink in, "I'm an absolute monster."
Gohan backed away from the mirror. She was crying. Why was she crying? It tore Gohan up inside that she was feeling such pain that it drove her to tears. He wanted to crash through the window and hold her. He wanted to tell her that she would be all right. Gohan uneasily ran a hand through his hair, concern obviously etched on his dace.
"Are you worried?" The voice echoed through the room again.
"You made her cry. Why is she crying?"
"Why do you care? Do you love her?"
Gohan slammed his fist against the wall, "I'm asking questions here!" He screamed. The nerve of this stranger to talk to him! "Why is Videl crying?"
"She's scared, that's all. Now I'm going to ask the questions."
Gohan sighed, "Can I see her soon?"
"I'm asking questions now." The voice ignored Gohan's question. "Do you love her? Is that why you're so concerned?"
"She is my friend, that's why I'm concerned about her."
"So no love?"
Gohan paused for a moment. He had never thought about it before. Him loving Videl? It seemed crazy to him. On the other hand…
How crazy could it be?
"No," He finally answered, "No, there's no love"
A laugh escaped the scientist's throat, "Very good, my boy. We'll start the tests soon."
Something smelling like roses entered Videl's system. What was this, a trick of the mind? Videl tried to shake the smell away, but there was no luck. It was not the time to be thinking of sweet roses. It almost sickened her. Roses? Why in the hell would she be thinking of roses? Maybe the panic was wearing off, and she could think normally. But still…roses…she never thought of roses.
Videl inhaled and wished Gohan was there to keep her company. He would cheer her up by acting completely stupid and provide her with a good laugh. He always made her feel happy. In fact, Videl could not think of a single time with Gohan that she was sad or upset. Come to think of it, Gohan was never upset either. The guy was always smiling and laughing at something. So carefree…
Something Videl wanted was to be carefree and naïve. That could never happen. She had this power inside of her that had to remain hidden all the time. The monster inside had to be kept a secret. No more people could die. No more.
Videl sighed again as her vision started to blur. She figured that she was just tired, so she slumped over and fell asleep. As she closed her eyes, something flickered. Orange and red, it flickered right in the corner of her eye…
A magnificent maple table stood in the middle of the huge dining room. Food lined the table. Turkey, potatoes, rice, and almost every imaginable dish was included in this feat. Right in the center, three candles flickered with life, helping to light the room. The candles were ornately designed, wrapped in silver and gold wax. Around this table, people gathered, drinking and laughing.
Videl walked in, clutching a doll to her chest. She wore a little pink dress, her dark hair pulled into two pigtails that stuck out to the sides. Her wide blue eyes looked around the room at all the adults. There was no one in sight her age. Walking through the crowd, she made her way over to the table. She looked in awe at the pretty candles. Reaching out, she reached to touch them. Stepping on a chair, she used her tiptoes to reach as far as she could. In one sweep, the chair moved from underneath her, and she fell completely on top of the candle sticks.
A scream went through the room. Videl cried as her dress caught fire. She sat there, not knowing what to do. Tears fell down her face as she felt the heat enclosing her body. Videl hit at it, but nothing happened, and no one seemed to realize her screaming. No one even seemed to care.
"Daddy? Daddy!" Videl screamed. What was she supposed to do? A simple seven year old did not know any better but to look at what was pretty.
Mr. Satan rushed to Videl. Panicked, he took one of his massive hands and smothered the fire on her dress. Immediately after, he swept Videl into his arms and rubbed her back. "It's okay honey, Daddy's here," he said soothingly, "You're fine now." He looked at her daughter. She still looked frightened, and her dress was partly burnt, "Come now, we'll wash you up and get you a new dress right now…"
The scene faded into a newer, recent memory. The most recent and most horrible memory yet. Hatred burned behind Videl's eyes as the scene played out in her mind. She slipped from her reality, and slipped into her dream world.
Videl gasped as she felt blood trickle down various parts of her body. She was wounded badly. Her fight was not looking good. Saito was way more skilled than she had imagined. Cringing, she tried her best to get away from him. Sweat dripped and mixed with the blood wounds, stinging her skin. She saw her escape. It was so close and far at the same time. She moved to escape.
The move was too late. Videl felt a hand clasp around her ankle, making her crash to the ground. She flipped over onto her back, finding Saito practically on top of her. His eyes burned with excitement as he moved in on his prey. Videl looked with fear and helplessness. There was nothing she could do. She was going to die in battle, the way it should be…
Then Videl thought of something. Discreetly, she reached into her show…
Videl woke up, her chest heavily rising and falling, Hatred burned in her eyes from those memories. It reminded her of how despicable the human population is. She could not stand it. The feeling made Videl want to destroy something. Something huge. She looked around the room. Well, there were no people, and no buildings, so her bed would have to do. Jogging to the other side of the room, Videl screamed as she lifted the bed and tossed it across her prison. The bed shattered against the wall, and fell into a million pieces.
"Should we send him in?"
"Yes, send him in now."
