A/N: This is a short thing I thought of....for my friend, who requested I write a slash story. This is for her. But I will be writing another one, once I think of something more.

An aging man ran his fingers through his long brown and speckled gray hair. Lately his energy and concentration were drowning. Perhaps because today was the day. Slowly, he made his way to the desk near the window...the desk in the drawing room. He and the Order of the Phoenix had come back to Head Quarters after grueling battle at the Ministry. He remembered the battle...so well. How could he have forgotten it? He convinced himself that if he did forgot then he would forget him as well. Quickly he searched for a piece of parchment and a quill and before he knew it, he had started writing:

Hey Pal,

How are you buddy? We all miss you. Harry's growing up quite nicely. He's getting your hair...James would be proud of the two of you. I've thought about you often after the incident a year ago. It seems like it was only yesterday that we battled Voldemort...and won I might add. I can't tell you how much I need you right now...Sometimes I can't think straight when I think of you, I know that's crazy and all...but you were the reason I stayed here as long as I did. But then there's Harry to think about...he needs a family, and I'm the only one close to him right now. He's cut off Ron and Hermione entirely from his life. Poor boy...I think this is hardest on him. He's a good kid, brilliant, handsome and overall...reckless. All qualities you possess. I think it's time I told you how I feel, since nobody will ever read this letter. I've been fond of you for years...not just as a friend though. I felt something for you all through school. I'm just wondering why you chose to leave when I could finally speak the truth.

Remus didn't sign his name, and as he closed his eyes he felt a soft breeze hit him. Sleeping through the night was turning out to be rather difficult for him. Once the sun had shone itself again, he sat up. His eyes strayed to his letter, and he stared at it:

-Thank you Remus. I always wanted to tell you that I loved you as well...and now looks like I get my chance. We would have made a brilliant match, if I might be so bold. I'm sorry things went wrong, but what I'm not sorry for is loving you all these years.
