Maybe That's Why
a Slam Dunk fanfiction
His relationships are usually brief affairs. Maybe it has to do with the question that's asked sooner or later: what's most important to him.
When he hears that question, he knows the relationship will not last for much longer; he's never been wrong so far. Maybe it has to do with the answer he gives.
Being with Hanagata is different. Hanagata's quietly confident of his place, doesn't ask irrational questions like what number he is in Fujima's life. He's just there whenever Fujima needs him.
To Fujima, Hanagata's better than any girlfriend because he understands. Maybe that's the reason why.
