TAINTED

AUTHOR'S NOTE
Based after the last episode of the series. Doesn't use the whole "Scott only came back for the Morp" theory, he's actually still at Horizon. This was just an idea I had running around in my head. All characters and familiar scenes belong to Fox Family.

INTRODUCTION
Scott makes a visit home.

Sixteen-year old Scott Barringer blew out a breath. Could he do this? Could he open the door? Making a decision, he grabbed the knob and twisted it. The door swung open and he stepped into the residence. He looked around the living room. Almost immediately, he was hit with a flashback. Scott looked at the suitcases, then at his father and stepmother. Then, he saw the large black man. He took off. Scott shook his head.
"Why'd I run?" he wondered. He headed for the kitchen. Martin sat at the table reading the newspaper as Susan fixed some coffee. Twelve-year old Scott ran around the kitchen, trying to get his things together. The memory faded and Scott laughed. Then his eyes clouded. Martin Barringer sat at the table reading the newspaper as Elaine swirled a straw around in a glass of lemonade. Fifteen-year old Scott glared at her. Scott shook his head to drive the memory away. He continued his tour. He stopped at his father's study. Again, he let his mind wander.
"Scott, good game. You're gonna go places," Martin stated.
"Thanks, Dad," fourteen-year old Scott grinned. Martin put his hands on Scott's shoulder.
"I'm proud of you son. I love you," he said.
The last sentence echoed in the teen's head.
"Love. He doesn't even know the meaning of the word now," he scoffed. He continued walking. His next stop was in front of his father's bedroom. Thirteen-year old Scott stopped when he heard the burst of laughter.
"Oh, man. I'm glad they're doing it in there," he muttered with a shake of his head.
Then, the memory changed. Sixteen-year old Scott stopped when he heard the moaning.
"Elaine, baby," Martin moaned.
"Oh, Martin. Say more," Elaine urged breathlessly.
"Skank," Scott growled. Then walked away.
Scott let out a shaky breath. He wasn't sure he could take more of this. The memories were shaking him up pretty bad. But he had to keep going. He had to see if he could do it. It'd be a stepping stone for him. Scott forced himself to walk towards his room. Slowly, he opened the door and stepped in. He looked around.
"Hey Scott, you trying out for the football team next year?" one of his friends, fourteen-year old Brian Adams, questioned.
"Oh, yeah!" fourteen-year old Scott answered, tossing the football in the air, then catching it.
"Like you had to ask?" another fourteen-year old boy, Kevin Smith, teased. They all laughed.
Suddenly, the scene shifted.
"Scotty? Scotty, are you up?" twenty-six-year old Elaine Barringer asked. Scott awoke and stared at his stepmother in surprise. Suddenly, she was in his bed and she pulled his wrists apart.
"Are you up?" Elaine asked.
"No!" Scott protested. However the same thing happened. The door opened again.
"You said no more. You promised," Scott groaned.
With a distressed cry, Scott turned around, opened the door, and ran out of the house. Peter Scarbrow was waiting in the car when Scott came running out.
"What happened?" he questioned.
"I couldn't do it," was the response. "Everything reminded me of her. Everything. The whole place is dirty. Tainted."
"At least you tried," Peter stated.
"For what good it did me," Scott replied. "Let's just go." With that, Peter started the car and headed back for Horizon.
