The Loss: For Edward

By: Ashley Marie

I hear your words but they
don't sink in and I don't
believe it, she isn't
gone I whisper to myself

She is upstairs, she is in
the rose garden, she is
in the kitchen, drinking her
tea, she is not gone!

No, she isn't gone I
deny as everyone looks
on, their tears falling openly
everyone looking to me for support

I run out of the house, to the
rose garden, my sobs racking
my body, but my head
still denying it, you aren't dead

You can't be! I shout, trying to
grasp on to the reality that keeps
slipping away, giving into memories
of you, your smile, your perfume

Your laugh and your face the
way you could command a room
with one soft spoken word, how
you loved me when no one else did

You were the only one that could
make me smile with just three
little words, your the only one
that knew what my heart wanted

You were the only one that saw
past the tough exterior, the only
one that saw I just wanted to best for
my family. You were the only one that knew me

I then feel my legs give away and
I slide against the brick wall
my tears flowing and my moans
of pain from my heart breaking

And I now know your loss is real
I know your gone, but only
in life form, but I know your
spirit and soul will be with me.
