Disclaimer: I don't own Reepicheep or Narnia, or Aslan's country. That'd make a great present, tho, if you'd like to contribute. grin

A/N: My first Narnia fic that I've actually finished! Tons and tons more to come I'm sure. Enjoy!

A roar of blue, green, and white stood guard at the very eastern edge of the world. Endless cascades of water careened up and down the wave, though it never moved. No mortal eye could see any sort of end, neither to the north, nor to the south. There was no change in its appearance for endless miles, but for one infinitesimal speck.

A tiny boat contained a sleek, black figure rowing confidently. The figure was a mouse. A steely gaze of duty and purpose stole any other emotion one might have expected to creep onto its expression.

Then, with one last, firm stroke of the small oar, the mouse in its boat reached the crest of the wave, and in a fraction of a moment, beheld a more spectacular sight than any word of any mortal language could utter. The boat shot down the other side of the wave, and after gliding a little way, ground into the perfect whitish sand that came up to meet the shore. The boat lurched a little bit backward, as things tend to do when they come to a stop. The beach resumed its magical stillness.

The mouse's stiff expression melted into awe; its choking grip on the oar relaxed. It blinked its unbelieving eyes, turning its head a bit to the left and to the right. And slowly, it lifted its left leg and dipped it into the water. At the end of that leg, its foot touched the ground of the blessed land for the first time. A tingling began to spread from the least of its toes and up to the very tips of its ears. With not the slightest hesitation, it slid the remainder of itself into the perfectly clear water, and waded up the waist-deep water. Not far away from the water, it stood dripping in wonder. It collapsed to a kneel and gently pressed its teeth into its lip as its eyes began to fill, consquently spilling over with huge tears. But then, it felt warm breath on its shoulder, and a wonderfully familiar voice spoke the words it could not and would not ever forget.

"Welcome, Reepicheep. My beloved son."

And the tears flowed all the more.
