Behind Cold Blue Eyes
Who I really am
Is hidden behind cold blue eyes
Nobody can find me
Because I don't want them to
Even though it's hopeless
She still tries
To melt down my walls of ice
She tries to become my friend
Doesn't she understand?
That I don't need anybody
Don't want to get close
Because I just can't
Life has taught me one cruel lesson
Never trust a person
Who offers you their hand
They will just use you for their own selfish plans
Don't give your heart away
Before you know it's broken
Your innocence taken
You fall to pieces
Shattered like glass
I learned that the hard way
So,
My feelings I hide
Behind arrogance and pride
The only one I will ever let in
Is my brother
Who's been with me through thick and thin
Who knows the real me
Who I'll never show for other people to see
I won't show any weaknesses anymore
For other people to explore
And use against me
My trust in people
Was broken long ago
By a man
I thought I knew
Who destroyed the boy
I was supposed to be
Smiling, happy and carefree
Who hurt me
Left bumps and bruises on my skin
When I didn't live up to his expectations
And failed to please him
Those bruises eventually faded away
The only thing that will always stay
Are the scars he left within
What made me who I am today
