little section of her thoughts, when she's thinking about love. And
thinking about love, for Lyra, means thinking about Will.

Some people say love is when you look into the future and can only see yourself with the person you're in love with. I disagree on this. I disagree with what a lot of people have to say about love.
For starters, I never thought about the future, for fear that it'll bring the end. And the statement that nobody is worth your tears, and the person who is, wont make you cry? I think that it is terribly vague and inaccurate; the person who's worth your tears will make you cry when you're happy, make you cry with laughter, and if the one you love is in pain, and you cry, they've made you cry the worst type of tears; tears from the deepest corners of your soul because you're so scared of them being upset, or of them being hurt, that it kills you inside.
Oh, and the old saying that love is reciprocal? I know somebody who is so hopelessly in love with someone that will never see him as more than a friend, and its killing him slowly inside. And how about those in love not being jealous? Seeing the one you love with someone else can damn near kill you. Its watching your heart ripped out in front of your eyes. The risk of that is too great not to merit any fear. Even if you know you wont be seeing it happen.
Love is when your whole world comes alive every time you see that person, and when you never want them to let go when they hold you in their arms. Love is laughing together, and sharing everything, from the happiest, most amazing moment, to the most heart-felt, saddest moment. It's when you yearn for them with every part of you, and when you catch their eyes, you couldn't want anything more than to be together alone in that moment.
Nobody in love ever wants to say goodbye, which is why looking into the future is so hard, because you know that one day it will happen, and one day you'll die forever. When you creap into each other's arms at the same moment, when you lean in for those perfect kisses together. It's a sinking feeling every time you think something could have gone wrong.
No matter what they say, love is never wrong. Nothing your heart tells you is ever wrong, and the person may not be who you expected, but it's never wrong.
Love is never having to say you're sorry. It goes without being said, or someone's confused. Nobody needs ever say sorry when they're in love. But whoever said about falling? Love makes you soar away from everything that's not the person you love. Love makes you fly, it's the break that makes you fall.
And when you fall into the abyss; it takes forever to recover
