A/n: This is a second attempt at my story If I Could Change One Thing.

Prologue: O.W.L. Results

A brown barn owl swooped over the houses on Privet Drive one hot July evening. Harry Potter starred at it with his emerald green eyes. The owl came closer and closer. Harry didn't budge from spot on the front lawn. Soon enough the owl swooped down and dropped the letter close to his untidy jet black hair. Harry immediately snatched up the envelope. It was addressed to him. He looked at the back, which was sealed with the Hogwarts emblem. He knew what it was: it was his O.W.L. results. With his hands trembling, he slowly opened the envelope.

Deputy Headmistress, Minerva McGonagall

Harry bolted from his spot in front of the house and went inside. Just as he began to race up the stairs, his Aunt Petunia called him to the kitchen. "Yes." "Harry, what did you get on your O.W.L.s?" This came as quite a shock. His aunt knew about O.W.L.s? "How do you...?" "I remember your mother and her friends getting very excited when they were your age." Harry just shrugged his shoulders and gave Petunia the list of grades. She nodded her head slightly as she read them, gave them back to him, and ushered him off to bed.
