Blue Sky

A/N: This is a yaoi fic. Although there is nothing really graphic about it. The story is a little sad.

The sky is blue.

Funny. I thought it might be a little darker today. But who am I to say that? I'm not the rain man. I'm just Koshino Hiroaki, a simple boy who lives in Kanagawa and studies at Ryonan High.

The clouds are real plenty today. The kids from the neighborhood are gonna love this. I bet they'll be lying on the grass near the bridge with their fingers pointing upwards. There are a lot of wonderful cloud animals floating around.

I think I see a dragon.

Umbrellas are not going to be of any use today. I don't know why I even brought this with me. I don't know why I even thought it would rain. Last night's forecast announced beautiful weather for the whole city.

Heh. I guess this just teaches me not to underestimate the six 'o' clock news.

The day seems a little gloomier. When I woke up this morning, I felt chilly and so I was even contemplating of staying in bed. But we have a test in Math and I studied all night for it. Besides, I'm running for honors. As much as possible, I would like to keep a perfect attendance record, thank you very much.

Speaking of chilly, here it is again. A shiver running up my body.

The others are looking at me funny. Actually, I would too. If I saw someone else wrapping a jacket around himself.

In the middle of a beautiful afternoon.

In the middle of basketball practice.

Thankfully, no one seems to want to question me. Better that way. I wouldn't know how to answer them anyway.

"Koshino-sempai, are you okay? Maybe you're sick."

Hikoichi. What a nice boy. I think he'll make a good coach someday. Hmm, maybe I am a little sick. I've been showing symptoms of fever from the moment I got out of bed this morning. Maybe I should go home and skip practice just this once.

Taoka-sensei nods his permission and I pick my things up. They aren't a lot so I don't need anybody to help me with them. Making my way out, I bump into somebody. The fever has made me clumsy, I think.

Looking up, I see.

Now, everything makes sense.

The sky is still blue and there aren't any dangerous grey or black clouds hanging around. They're all white, indicating a perfect weather.

But a storm is raging inside me. Albeit, it is a silent one.

Now, I remember.

Sendoh Akira.

He was my best friend and lover.

Yes, was.

Now the sky is still blue, And the world is still turning.

Taking a deep breath, I walk away.
