DISCLAIMER: HEL-LO? IF I OWNED RK, WOULD I SERIOUSLY BE SITTING HERE WRITING FANFICS?

"C'mon, why won't you take these roses?" Kenshin asked Tomoe.
She turned her back to him.
"Tomoe, just take them, won't you?"
Tomoe finally gives in after hearing Kenshin ask the same thing for the 5th time. She smiled, smelling the roses. "Thanks, Kenshin."
Kenshin looked glad that she took the bouquet of roses he offered. "Happy birthday, Tomoe Yukishiro." He kissed her on the cheek.
Tomoe blushed. "Thank you, my dear boyfriend."
"Now, let me drive you home." Kenshin led her over to his car.
"Let me just put the roses in the trunk, first." Tomoe headed to the back of the car. When she opened the trunk, her eyes widened in surprise and disgust. She rubbed her eyes, thinking she was imagining things. She looked again and shrieked.
"What is it?" Kenshin ran to her side and looked. There was the birthday cake he had left for her...and a different girl was eating it. His eyes widened.
Tomoe handed him the roses and scoffed, walking away.
"T-Tomoe, I don't know how she got there!" Kenshin grabbed the cake and gave it to Tomoe, turning the cake so she could eat the side that the girl hadn't eaten yet.
Tomoe didn't accept the cake. Instead, she took the roses back and walked away, not even glancing back at Kenshin.
Kenshin sighed. How had that girl gotten into his car? He walked back to the girl, who had gotten out of the trunk.
"Hey!" The girl smiled. She had bluish-blackish hair that was pulled up in a high ponytail and had sapphire eyes. She was wearing training clothes. "I'm Kaoru Kamaiya!"
"Kenshin Himura." Kenshin muttered.
Kaoru stopped smiling. "You seem down."
"Of course!" Kenshin shouted. "Do you know what just happened?! You ruined my special time with Tomoe on her birthday!"
Kaoru seemed to shrink. "Sorry, Mr. Himura. I didn't mean to."
"Ugh!" Kenshin turned his back on her and got into his car. "Just...leave me alone, okay?" He drove away.
Kaoru looked down as Kenshin drove away. "That red-head..." She whispered. "Why does he look so familiar?" She frowned. "Hm...I must be hallucinating. How can I know him?" Kaoru shook her head, laughing. "I think I haven't been getting enough sleep."

"Tomoe? Please, I know you're there. Please give me a chance to explain. I don't even know who the hell that girl was!" Kenshin tried calling Tomoe's house.
Tomoe reluctantly picked up. "Kenshin, I don't know what the fuck got into you – have you been getting enough sleep?"
Kenshin sighed, relieved that she at least picked up. "Yes, I have. I just wanted to tell you that I talked to the girl, and if she listened, she will be staying away from me forever."
"Okay, Kenshin." Tomoe smiled.
"So...you still hungry?"
Tomoe laughed. "Starving. Where are you?" She asked.
"On your doorstep." Kenshin replied, hanging up.
Tomoe gasped and hung up also. She strode quickly over to the door and opened it to reveal a smiling Kenshin. "You actually came!" She exclaimed, giving Kenshin a quick kiss.
"You were actually waiting." Kenshin smiled, looking at Tomoe's wardrobe.
Tomoe blushed. "Busted. Well, shall we go now?" She smiled.
"Sure. I've got reservations at your favorite restaurant." Kenshin offered his arm to Tomoe, who took it gleefully.
"Ooh, I can't wait."
