Meant to Be... Or Was It?
He sat and watched as she walked down the aisle an angel gowned in white satin and lace. Whatever happened, he wondered to the little girl that would stick her elbow in the butter dish just because he walked into the room?
It was simple really. She had grown up.
He knew that it wasn't right of him to feel so jealous, but he couldn't help wishing that it was him that caused the blush on her cheeks and the smile on her face. He had had his chance to have her as his own, but he had been too big of an idiot to see what an amazing woman she would become. And so he had lost her. She had seen that he didn't notice her like she wished he would so she moved on.
Sometimes he would lie awake at night and ask all the 'what if?' questions that would gnaw at his heart. Such as what if I had paid attention to her? What if I had been nicer to her? But those were the questions that had no answers.
For some reason he had always thought that she would be there waiting for him no matter what. How wrong he was. When he finally was ready to be with her she was gone.
The priest had come to the point where he would ask for objections. How easy it would be for him to stand up and say that he loved her, but he couldn't do it. He knew that if he did she would never speak to him again. And no matter how much it pained him to see her with another he wanted her to be happy. Happy like she was now.
He had thought they were meant to be like his parents before them. He had thought that they were the handsome hero and his beautiful damsel in distress, but now he saw that she had only been the damsel once and she would never be again. Silly of him really to think that. His mother was never the damsel in distress, his father had seen that, but he couldn't.
But there was one more thing gnawing at him. Why oh why did it have to be that man that his angel had fallen for? Of everyone in the world why that one man? She could have picked any Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, hell even a Hufflepuff, but she chose him.
They were saying their vows now. I, Ginevra Molly Weasley take you to be my lawfully wedded husband. To have and to hold in sickness and in health for richer or poorer as long as we both shall live.
And that was it. All hope that he ever had at a chance to be with that angel was gone. She was now a married woman. She could never be Mrs. Ginny Potter for she was now Mrs. Ginevra Malfoy wife to Draco Malfoy.
Harry sighed as he walked out of the church. 'This is all wrong.' He thought 'It was meant to be... or was it?'
