Roc Paper Scissors

Raven sat in her room meditating. The alarm went off. She stopped meditating and rushed downstairs to find Robin, Cyborg, and Starfire there. Beastboy was on holiday.
"What's going on?" asked Raven.
"Slade's hit City Hall. He'll kill the mayor and destroy the town if he's not stopped," responded Robin.
The four got to City Hall to find Slade standing there, wielding a small wooden stick. He looked at the Robin.
"Robin," said Slade, "How nice to see you."
"What are you up to?"
"I'm sure you should know by now."
With that, Slade swung the stick at Raven, releasing a green light. When the light disappeared, Slade was gone, the mayor was safe, but Raven was lying on the ground, seemingly dead. Robin went up to her, extremely worried. He checked her pulse. 10 beats per minute. She was still breathing, but just barely. He took her back home.

Meanwhile, Raven was, as you can well imagine from her pulse and breathing, no matter how little of them both, alive. Raven observed her surroundings. Strange, she thought, I thought I was in the City Hall. She continued to observe her surroundings until she saw a man dressed in a white t-shirt and blue jeans and a robed figure. The figure held a scythe. She looked at the figure.
"Where am I?" she asked
The figure continued to stand there in silence. She looked to the boy, but he just pointed down. She looked to the ground and saw that she was standing on a red and black platform that could only fit one person standing up. It was resting on a greenish-black pond. She looked back to the boy. He explained.
"As long as you are here, you shall play a game for your life. It's a game that was created in the dawn of time. You are on a platform. A random object of either a stone, a leaf, or a twig, will drop from the sky. You are to keep them from falling into the pond. If you survive 85 or more rounds, you will live."
"What is the pond?"
"That is an outcropping of the river Styx."
"I see. And who are you?"
"I am named Matthias. That is beyond the point, though. You are only to live if someone helps you to. If no one does, your life lays on chance."
"So, Matthias, what your saying is, I will have to keep objects from falling into the pond to keep myself alive. I will only live by chance or by help, but I won't be able to see what's falling in?"
"Exactly. However, there is a way to survive."
"What do you mean?"
"There is a boy. Your life lies in his hands. His name is Phoenix. He will help you as much as he can."
With this, Matthias and the figure disappeared.
