Don't Leave Me

Chapter Three

Problems on the New Moon

Koga ran through Inuyasha forest, following Kagome's scent. He stopped in front of the well. Her scent went down there! She must be trapped! Koga jumped into the well and ended up in Kagome's time. Koga cautiously got out of the well and went into Kagome's house. He found Sango, Miroku, Shippo, Kaede, Rin and Sesshomaru, but no Kagome or mutt face.

"Hey! Where's Kagome?" Koga asked.

"Upstairs, she hasn't come down all day," Sango said, looking up the stairs.

"Actually, she came down a few times to get food," Rin pointed out.

"I mean, other then that," Sango said, "She won't leave him."

"Won't leave who?" Koga asked, eyes narrowed.

"Inuyasha," Shippo said.

"What's she doing with him?" Koga snarled.

"Are ye blind?" Kaede asked, "She loves him."

"What?!" Koga cried, "She's my woman!!"

Sango shook her head and watched as Koga ran upstairs. He wasn't as fast as he use to be, with no shards in his legs, he wasn't any faster then Inuyasha. Koga found Kagome's scent and walked into her room. Kagome didn't even seem to notice another presence in the room. Inuyasha's head was in her lap and she was stroking his hair. Kagome's eyes were closed and she was leaning against some pillows on the headboard. Inuyasha smelt Koga and growled softly.

"Inuyasha, you need to rest," Kagome said sleepily.

"But Kagome," Inuyasha protested.

"No 'buts' Inuyasha, rest," Kagome said. She started to rub Inuyasha's ears and Inuyasha started to purr softly. Kagome smiled and started to sing again.

I looked away
Then I looked back at you
You tried to say
Things that you can't undo
If I had my way
I'd never get over you
Today's the day
I pray that we make it through
Make it through the fall
Make it through it all

I don't want to fall to pieces
I just want to sit and stare at you
I don't want to talk about it
I don't want a conversation
I just want to cry in front of you
I don't want to talk about it
Cause I'm in love with you

You're the only one
I'd be with til the end
When I come undone
You bring me back again
Back under that stars
Back into your arms

And I don't want to fall to pieces
I just want to sit and stare at you
I don't want to talk about it
And I don't want a conversation
I just want to cry in front of you
I don't want to talk about it
Cause I'm in love with you

Want to know who you are
Want to know where to start
I want to know what this means
Want to know how to feel
Want to know what is real
I want to know everything, everything

I don't want to fall to pieces
I just want to sit and stare at you
I don't want to talk about it
And I don't want a conversation
I just want to cry in front of you
I don't want to talk about it

And I don't want to fall to pieces
I just want to sit and stare at you
I don't want to talk about it
And I don't want a conversation
I just want to cry in front of you
And I don't want to talk about it
Cause I'm in love with you

I'm in love with you
Cause I'm in love with you
I'm in love with you
I'm in love with you

Koga stood in the doorway stunned. Man, that girl could sing! Kagome opened her eyes and looked down at Inuyasha. His breathing was slowing, so Kagome figured he was asleep. Just to make sure, Kagome blew into Inuyasha's ear, usually he would start yelling, but his ear only twitched and he moaned softly. Yep, he was asleep. Kagome seemed to notice Koga for the first time and froze. Was he here to pick a fight with Inuyasha?

"What are you doing here Koga?" Kagome asked.

"I came to check up on my woman," Koga said, coming out his trance, "My woman with a beautiful voice."

"For the last time Koga, I'm not your woman," Kagome hissed.

"Is that how you get mutt face to sleep? You have to sing to him?" Koga asked, changing the subject, "What a wimp."

"He's not a wimp Koga," Kagome snapped, "He's hurt, bad. You can stay here if you want, just leave Inuyasha alone."

"I can stay here, with Kagome?" Koga asked.

"Yeah, but not in this room, you can have the room next door, I have to share my room with Inuyasha," Kagome said.

"Why does mutt face get to be in the same room as you?!" Koga asked outraged.

"Because I'm taking care of him!" Kagome cried, "Now go and tell Sango that you're staying and Sango will tell my mom."

Kagome turned her attention back to Inuyasha. When Koga realized she was finished with him, he walked slowly out of the room and back downstairs. Kagome sighed, since Koga was here, all hell was going to break lose when Inuyasha got better. Sometimes Kagome wished that she did love Koga, only because she knew that Inuyasha would never let Kikyo go for her. Yet, she didn't love Koga, she loved Inuyasha, that's all there is to it.

Inuyasha woke later that evening. The sun hadn't set yet, which meant that he still had a little longer before he had to turn human. The hanyou looked around and found Kagome curled against his chest, sleeping. Inuyasha had never really realized how beautiful Kagome was until a few days before the final battle against Naraku. It was only then when Inuyasha realized he loved the girl sleeping next to him. Inuyasha moved some of the hair out of Kagome's face. She looked so peaceful when she slept, yet her face was etched with worry, probably for him.

"Don't worry Kagome, I'll be fine," Inuyasha whispered in her ear.

"Inu…yasha…" Kagome whispered, grabbing a fist full of Inuyasha's shirt.

"I'm here Kagome," Inuyasha reassured, taking her hand, "I'm here."

"What are you doing to my woman?" Koga growled from the doorway.

"Your woman?" Inuyasha asked.

"Of course she's my woman!" Koga exclaimed.

"Hell no she's not," Inuyasha ground out.

Inuyasha felt Kagome stretch beside him and looked down. She was still asleep, but she would be awake soon. Inuyasha knew that Kagome wouldn't want him fighting with Koga, especially in his condition. Inuyasha slowly lifted himself up off the bed. He walked to the door, a limp in his step, cringing with pain. He stood tall in front of Koga, never showing the wolf his pain.

"I'm not in the mood to deal with your shit Koga," Inuyasha said. He pushed Koga back a little and slammed the door in his face and locked it.

"BAKA!" Koga yelled.

"Keh," Inuyasha muttered.

Inuyasha turned around and started to walk back to the bed. Kagome stretched and opened her eyes. She looked at Inuyasha sleepily for a second, then her eyes widened. Inuyasha knew what was coming next. She was going to yell at him for being up and about when he should be resting. Kagome narrowed her eyes a bit, she opened her mouth and…

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING OUT OF BED?!" Kagome yelled, jumping up.

"Koga came and I-" Inuyasha started.

"Did you fight him?" Kagome asked quietly.

"No! I didn't fight him Kag, I told him to leave, I swear," Inuyasha said, holding his hand on his heart.

"What did you just call me?" Kagome asked. She thought she heard wrong. Kag is the nickname her father always called her.

"I said 'Kag'. Do you not like it?" Inuyasha asked.

Inuyasha watched as Kagome's eyes filled with tears. She shook her head 'no'. Yet, still the tears fell. Inuyasha rushed over to Kagome and gathered her in his arms and sat down on the bed. Kagome buried her face in Inuyasha's chest and cried. That name brought back so many memories, memories she didn't want to think about while she was with Inuyasha.

"Kagome, what's wrong?" Inuyasha asked.

Kagome sniffed and looked up at Inuyasha, "That's what my dad use to call me…before he left…"

"Oh, I'm sorry Kagome, I didn't mean to make you cry, don't cry Kagome," Inuyasha whispered. 'My Kagome' he added in his thoughts.

When Kagome finally calmed down, Inuyasha let her go. She stood up and told him to lie back down. Doing as he was told, he did. Kagome sat behind him, his head in her lap. Mrs. Higurashi walked into the room with a tray of food. She set the food on the bedside table.

"Just in case you and Inuyasha were hungry," she said,

"Thanks mama," Kagome said, smiling.

Mrs. Higurashi smiled and walked out of the room. Inuyasha sat up and Kagome retrieved the food. She gave one plate to Inuyasha and kept the other plate for herself. They ate in silence, the singing of the birds disturbing the peaceful silence. When they were done, Kagome took the plates back downstairs. When she came back upstairs, Inuyasha was curled up on her bed, asleep.

"I wonder if he could sleep through his transformation," Kagome wondered aloud, sitting down at her desk.

She flipped through her history book. The sun was slowly setting and soon Inuyasha would transform. After awhile, she heard a soft growl from the bed. She looked over and saw Inuyasha sitting up, starring out the window. She walked over to him and sat down at the foot of the bed.

"Koga's still here," Inuyasha pointed out.

"Don't worry, he won't do anything, I promise," Kagome said.

The sun had finally set and Kagome took Inuyasha's hand for comfort. Kagome watched as the claws on Inuyasha's hands shortened and turned into normal fingernails. His fangs retreated into his mouth and human ears on the side of his head replaced his dog-ears. His hair turned smoothly from a bright silver to a midnight black and his gold eyes faded to brown. His inhuman senses were replaced by normal human senses. He growled, or as best as he could as a human and tightened his grip on Kagome's hand.

"It's ok Inu, it's over," Kagome whispered.

"I know," Inuyasha sighed.

"You're healing quickly," Kagome pointed out.

"Yeah, thanks to the old hag," Inuyasha said.

"Even when you're a human, you still have your attitude," Kagome smiled a bit.

"What can I say?" Inuyasha asked, grinning.

Inuyasha coughed, he doubled over and Kagome started to rub his back. He stayed hunched over and began dry heaving; after a few minutes, he threw up blood. Kagome screamed and lifted her feet off the floor. Everyone's heads downstairs shot up and they raced upstairs. The door to Kagome's room burst open and they found Kagome hugging Inuyasha, rocking him back and forth. Koga growled and Miroku took him out of the room and back downstairs. Kaede and Sango rushed over to them, cautious of the blood on the floor.

"Kagome, child, what happened?" Kaede asked.

"I-I don't know!" Kagome cried, "He was just fine then he started coughing and then he threw up blood and now he won't wake up!"

Sesshomaru gently pried Inuyasha from Kagome's grasp and laid him on the bed. Sango hugged her friend and stroked her hair. It must be difficult, seeing the one you love with all your heart so sick. Sango lead Kagome out of the room and downstairs, Mrs. Higurashi, Sesshomaru, Shippo and Kirara followed after them. Kagome sank down onto the couch and cried. Koga took this opportunity and scooped Kagome into his arms. Kagome paid no heed to the fact that she was in Koga's arms and cried until she fell asleep.

"Should she stay with Inuyasha?" Sango asked.

"Hai," Mrs. Higurashi said, "She needs him and he needs her."

She picked up her daughter and took her upstairs. Kaede was walking out of the room and smiled at her, saying that Inuyasha was going to be ok, just resting for a couple days. Mrs. Higurashi smiled and walked into Kagome's room. She placed her daughter on her bed and watched as she snuggled against Inuyasha. As if he knew she was there, Inuyasha wrapped his arms around Kagome and pulled her closer. Hitomi smiled, no matter what those two thought, they were in love with each other, and no force could pull them apart.
