Don't Leave Me
Chapter Five
Many Happenings
I looked out from behind the Goshinboku, Kagome and Sango were chasing me. They were telling me that I had to take off the glove on my cursed hand, but they didn't get that I couldn't do that! I could still feel it. It was still there. It wasn't gone. I heard a twig crack behind me and I whipped around. They were standing there, innocent looks on their faces, but I knew better. I took a step backward and they advanced on me. I whimpered and shook my head slightly. Kagome grinned and jumped on me, pinning me to the ground. I struggled beneath her. Sango pried the prayer beads off my glove.
"Be careful Sango!" Kagome warned.
"Please Sango! It's still there! Don't take it off!" I pleaded.
"I'll aim it away from me," Sango said.
Carefully she aimed my right hand away from everyone. I closed my eyes, waiting for the familiar feeling to come. I felt the glove being pulled off my hand, but nothing happened. I heard Sango squeal and opened my eyes. She was shoving my hand in my face. Kagome started jumping around and I stared in disbelief at my cursed hand. It wasn't cursed anymore! It was gone!
"Sa-Sango…" I breathed, "It's gone!"
"Yep! It's all gone Miro-kun! There's no reason to have that glove anymore!" Sango said, helping me to my feet and planting a kiss on my lips.
It was really gone…no more Kazaana…
K POV
I was happy for Miroku, really. He was finally rid of that curse and he would live happily with Sango-chan. I smiled and walked slowly upstairs Koga was playing video games with Sota and Shippo, Inuyasha was sleeping, Sesshomaru and Rin had gone back to Sengoku Jidia and mama was out shopping. I checked on Sota, Shippo and Koga then walked to my room where Inuyasha was sleeping. He was sleeping just fine, but ever since that day around a week ago, when he had that dream about me and Koga…I was worried about him. He was sleeping peacefully and I walked downstairs to watch a movie. I went through my DVDs and put in Return of the King. About halfway though the movie, I lay down on the couch and dozed off.
I felt someone sit down next to me and I snuggled into the warmth. I slipped in and out of consciousness and didn't even bother to think of who was sitting on the couch near me. They called my name, but I thought it was in my dream and didn't even bother. They were shaking my shoulder and I whimpered. Why didn't they go away?! Couldn't they tell that I wanted to sleep? They said my name a little louder and shook me a little harder.
"Go away," I mumbled.
"C'mon Kag, you need to get up," the annoying person said.
"Why?" I wined.
"Don't you want to see me all healed and healthy?" he asked.
What the hell did the annoying person mean by healed and healthy? I reluctantly opened my eyes and amber gold stared back at me. I jumped up and rubbed the sleep out of my eyes. Surely he couldn't be healed! Not yet He was still sick! This was some trick. I kissed his forehead, no fever. I lifted his shirt and took off the bandage, his wound was healed. I looked him over and it looked like the poison was gone.
"You're all better!" I cried, flinging my arms around his neck.
"Sure am," he whispered, wrapping his arms around my waist.
"Um…Inu…you can let go now," I whispered, blushing.
"Oh! Sorry," Inuyasha said, releasing me.
"So, now that you're better, what do you want to do?" I asked.
"Could we go back to my time? Just for a little while?" he asked softly.
"Sure," I said slowly. Now why did he want to go back? Kikyo probably.
Inuyasha smiled and took my hand. We walked out of the house and past Miroku and Sango who were too busy talking to notice us. He let go of my hand and jumped into the well. I hesitated, he had read my mind. Why did he want me to come with him to his time? I couldn't figure out his reasoning. I shrugged it off and jumped into the well. I climbed up the wooden side and found Inuyasha waiting for me.
"Get on," he instructed.
Knowing what he meant, I climbed onto his back and he sped off with his inhuman speed. I lay my head on his back and closed my eyes. After a few minutes, he came to a stop and I looked up to see where we were. I gasped, we were at the Goshinboku and now this was really starting to freak me out. He set me on the ground and we stayed silent for a few minutes, listening to the leaves moving softly in the wind.
"Inuyas-"
"Kago-"
We looked away from each other, obviously we both wanted to say something, since we said each other's name at the same time.
"You go first," Inuyasha said.
"No, you can go first," I argued.
"Please Kagome, you go first," Inuyasha pleaded.
"Alright," I said. I paused for a second, thinking of how I was going to say this.
"You kinda freaked me out, because I was going to ask you if you wanted to come here to your time, to the Goshinboku, but you beat me to it. I wanted to come here for a reason, I had to tell you, even if you rejected it," I let out a small laugh, "This tree holds so many memories for me. This is where I met you, where you tried to kill me-"
"About that, I never-"
"Let me finish Inuyasha, because I'm afraid if you inturupt, I won't finish, "I said, he nodded, "Where my dad proposed to my mom, where my dad told us he was leaving, where Sango and Miroku had their first kiss, where I've seen you coutless times with Kikyo, where we've spent so much time together…but most importantly, this is where I found out that I love you."
"Y-you love m-me?" he asked
"Yes Inuyasha, I love you," I said a bit more confidently.
"Wow Kagome…" he whispered, "I never would've thought…"
I laughed bitterly, "It's ok, I know that your heart belongs to Kikyo, I just had to let you know."
I started to walk away, tears falling down my face, when I felt a clawed hand grab my wrist. I turned around to face Inuyasha, his head was bowed and his bangs covered his eyes.
"Why would you think that my heart belongs to Kikyo??" he asked, lifting his head, he had tears in his eyes, threatening to fall, "Kagome, I love you and only you!"
"You don't know how long I've waited to hear those words Inuyasha," I whispered, "But how can I know that you're really saying that to me?"
"Nani?"
"How do I know that you're really saying that to me, and not looking through me to Kikyo?" I asked, it was painful to ask, but I had to know.
Inuyasha shook his head, "You are Kagome, and only Kagome, I love Kagome."
"I need details Inuyasha," I whispered.
"You have ten smiles," Inuyasha said suddenly.
"What?" I asked.
"You have ten smiles," he said again, "One when you're truly happy, one when you're nervous, on when you're embarrassed, one when you're being polite, one when you're with your friends, one when you're with your family, one when Sango hits Miroku with her boomerang, one after we win a battle, one after you 'osuwari' me, and one when your're around me."
I had tears in my eyes, those were the kinda details I wanted. He really did love me! Not Kikyo! Me!
"You love me? Not Kikyo?" I asked.
"Hai," he whispered, pulling me into a warm embrace, "You also love me for me. Not for the demon side, not for the human side. For me, Hanyou Inuyasha. I know what you're going to say, 'but didn't Kikyo love you?' In a way, she did. Every time I went to her on the New moon, she would tell me that she liked my human side much better then the normal me. That's why she wanted me to turn human for her. She didn't love me I didn't really take notice on it, until you showed up. That's when I realized that Kikyo only loved half of me. But not you. You love it all and I'm glad. I love Kagome Higurashi and only Kagome Higurashi."
By the end of his speech, I had tears in my eyes and let out a chocked sob. He pulled me into his arms, stroking my hair, whispering comforting words into my ear. This only made me cry harder and he comforted me still. After about an hour, I had finally calmed down and sniffed every once in awhile.
"Aren't you happy Kagome?" he whispered, a certain not of pain in his voice.
"I'm very happy Inuyasha," I assured him.
"Then why were you crying?" he asked.
"I was crying because I'm happy!" I gave him a watery smile.
"oh…"
"Now in my time, this is where you'd ask if I would be your girlfried," I stated calmly.
"Girlfriend?" he asked, confused.
"Umm…it's something before you ask the girl to be your mate," I tried to explain.
"Oh, well then, Kagome, will you be my girlfriend?" he asked slowly.
"Of course!" I squealed.
"Good," he said, placing a quick kiss on my lips.
"Let's go back, my mom's probably home and worried," I said, "Plus, I have to tell Sango!"
"Ok," Inuyasha said.
He picked me up bridal style and ran off towards the bone eaters well. In a few short minutes we were there and he jumped through the well, without even bothering to put me down. Jumping gracefully out of the well, he walked past Miroku and Sango, who were gaping at him and walked into the house and sat down on the couch, me still in his arms.
"Urm…Inu-kun," I whispered, "You can let go now."
"No one's going to tak eyou away from me now that I have you," Inuyasha growled.
The doorbell ran and I pried myself out of Inuyasha's arms and ran to get the door. I flung it open and gulped, on the steps stood Eri, Yuka, Ayumi and Hojo. I gasped as they pushed passed me and let themselves into the house. Inuyasha was wearing faded jeans and a white shirt; he was also smart enough to put a hat on. Sango and Miroku sat next to him. Sango was wearing a blue flower dress and Miroku was wearing faded jeans and a plan blue shirt. At least they looked normal.
"So Kagome, who're your friends?" Eri asked, eyeing Inuyasha and Miroku.
"Oh! This is my friend Sango, and her fiancé, Miroku," I said, "And that's Inuyasha. Shippo and Koga are upstairs playing video games with Sota."
"Those are very interesting names," Ayumi pointed out.
"I guess," I shrugged.
"So Kagome," Yuka said, "You know the prom is coming up, right? Of course you do, so, who're you going with?"
"Oh! Um…no one…right now…" I said.
The three girls grinned and pushed Hojo towards me. My eyes widened and I took a step back, but he grabbed my hands. Inuyasha growled softly.
"Kagome, would you like to go to the prom with me?" he asked, determination in his eyes.
"Oh…um…Hojo…I-"
I was cut off by Inuyasha taking me into his arms and growled at the poor boy. Hojo glared at Inuyasha and they just stared at each other, having a glaring contest.
"You didn't even let her finish," Hojo said coldly.
"I think I can already answer that question for her," Inuyasha said, just as coldly.
"Kagome?" they asked in unison, looking at me.
"So-sorry Hojo," I whispered, "I can't go with you."
"Why not?" Hojo asked, he looked so broken.
"Because I'm dating Inuyasha and I'm sure he can take me to the prom," I said, looking up at Inuyasha hopefully.
"Yeah!" Inuyasha said, "I'm taking my Kagome to the prom!"
"Kagome!" Eri hissed, "Is this that jealous, over-protective and abusive guy you were telling us about?!"
"N-no!" I protested.
"I think it is!" Yuka cried.
"C'mon Kagome!" Eri said, pulling me out of Inuyasha's grasp, "You're going to the prom with Hojo and you have to stop seeing that boy!"
"No!" I cried, struggling against Eri, "You can't make me do things I don't want to do Eri! None of you can! You've done enough of it and you're not doing it anymore! I don't like Hojo, so I'm not going with him! I LOVE INUYASHA!"
Eri didn't really listen to me, "It's ok Kagome, we know he was making you say all that, you don't have to be afraid anymore Kagome-chan!"
"NO!" I protested, "I'm not afraid of Inu-kun! I'm not afraid of Sango-chan or Houshi-sama or Shippo-chan or Sesshomaru-sama or Rin-chan or any of my friends from Sengoku Jidia!"
Eri stopped pulling at me and just stared at me. I took that moment to run to Inuyasha and cried softly into his shoulder. He wrapped his arms around my waist and sat down on the couch, cradling me on his lap. Sango and Miroku looked at each other in disbelief, Kagome had just said out loud that she loved Inuyasha and he was comforting her! Did he love her too?
"What are you staring at?!" Inuyasha growled, throwing off his hat.
"O-oh my go-gosh!" Ayumi gasped, "Kagome-chan's boyfriend is a demon!"
I had calmed down a little bit and sniffed, "Hanyou!"
"What?" Yuka asked.
"He's an Inu Hanyou! Not and Inu youkai," I said, "Just let me explain! Just sit down and I'll explain everything."
Eri, Yuka, Ayumi and Hojo looked skeptically at Inuyasha and sat down on the ground, closer to Miroku and Sango, who hadn't said much of anything. I then launched into the tale of how I was dragged down the bone eaters well on my 15th birthday. How the villagers of Kaede's village found me and they took me back to their village. Where I was thought to be the reincarnation of Kaede's older sister, Kikyo. How Inuyasha saved me from a youkai after the jewel came out of my body, and then he tried to kill me because I would give him the jewel.
Inuyasha's ears flattened against his head when I said this.
That when Inuyasha was trying to kill me, Kaede put the rosary beads around his neck and when I said 'osuwari'…
Inuyasha was dragged to the ground and kissed the floor. "Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry Inu!" I cried.
He would kiss the ground if he were misbehaving. How we shattered the Shikon no Tama and that's how our quest began. I started telling them of our adventures and how Inuyasha and me met Shippo, Miroku and Sango. How we collected most of the jewel shards, the times I was kidnapped by Koga, (Who came down when I was telling that part of the story. Eri and Yuka gasped when they saw him and he flashed them a smile) the fights between Sesshomaru and Inuyasha and just everything that I had been through in Sengoku Jidia. Then I got down to the point of the final battle.
"In our previous battles against Naraku, we had gained many of the Shikon shards from him," Sango explained, "So we only needed five more. One night, we were all waiting, because we knew he would come soon."
"I smelt him first, since I was on guard," Inuyasha picked up, "We had Kagome take Rin and Shippo somewhere safe. She had brought her bow and arrows, just in case. She kept trying to jump in, but we wouldn't let her. Then she ran past me with Rin and Shippo and I asked her what she was doing and told me that Naraku was behind her."
"So Inuyasha asked me where the shards were and I told him. Sesshomaru was going bad against Kanna, one of Naraku's detachments, so I helped him. Naraku knew of course and he came after me," I said, "I shot him with an arrow and managed to hit a Shikon shard. The shard rejoined the rest of the jewel I was wearing around my neck. I tried to do it again, but Naraku punched me instead and I went flying."
"I thought she was dead, so I ran to her," Inuyasha said, "But she was breathing, so everything was ok. I ran at Naraku from behind and cut off one of his arms and another Shikon jewel came out. He got kinda mad and drove his arm though my stomach."
"I saw Inuyasha on one knee, but it didn't register to me he was hurt, because he never gets hurt and I could see him. I shot two more arrows and we only needed one more Shikon shard for the Shikon no tama to be complete. He asked me if I thought I could beat him and I said 'No, but he can.' Then Sesshomaru jumped out and slashed him across the face, the last Shikon shard came out and the Shikon no Tama was finally whole. Inuyasha had cut Naraku in half with his remaining strength, but he didn't die. My body was taken over by Midoriko, the woman who made the Shikon no tama, and she killed Naraku using my body," I said.
"Kagome-sama fainted, but I caught her. Then Naraku's insects attacked Inuyasha. Sesshomaru saved him and we were transported here. We've been here at Kagome's house for almost a month now. Koga came a day or two after we did and Kagome has been taking care of Inuyasha," Miroku said.
"He recovered today and he took me to his time to the Goshinboku, there, we confessed our true feelings for each other, and we came home and you showed up," I said.
The room was silent for a moment until Eri shot up and started to play with Inuyasha's ears. Inuyasha growled a bit, but I placed my hand on his arm. Yuka and Ayumi took their turns then they went to ogle over Koga, who I might add was quite afraid and looked at me and whimpered. I stifled my giggles and got my friends away from poor Koga and ushered them outside and away from the shrine before they could say anything. I walked back into the house and collapsed onto the couch next to Inuyasha and Miroku.
"Kagome! We need to talk!" Sango hissed, grabbing my hand and dragging me out to the Goshinboku.
"What?" I asked.
"You told Inuyasha?" she asked.
"Yeah, I couldn't keep it from him any longer," I said, "But he loves me back!"
"How do you know he's not looking through you to Kikyo?" Sango narrowed her eyes.
"I already asked him about it, he isn't through me to Kikyo, everything's ok," I smiled.
"Really?" Sango squealed.
"Yep!"
"That's great!" Sango said, hugging me, "So, what's this prom thing?"
"It's a dance," I said, "You go to it your senior year in High school. It's suppose to be really fun and a night you won't ever forget."
"So when is the prom?" Sango asked, "And can me and Miro-kun go to it?"
"Actually, it's this Saturday, and you can come! Because I'm allowed to bring three friends that don't go to our school," I said.
"Kagome…today is Thursday," Sango said.
"OH MY GOSH!" I screamed, " Then we have to go and find dresses! NOW!"
I grabbed Sango's hand and dashed inside. I went upstairs to change quickly and grabbed my money and my purse. I told Sango that the boys were coming with us because they had to find tuxes. I grabbed Inuyasha's hand and Sango grabbed Miroku's. The boys were shoved in the back seat of my car while Sango was up front in the passenger seat and I was driving. It was time for the mall! The ride there was pretty funny because Inuyasha and Miroku were freaking out in the back, because, unlike Sango, they had never been in a car before.
Sango had to calm them down; it took some time, but after awhile the two boys fell asleep. I put in my Avril Lavigne CD and me and Sango stayed silent. I was watching the road, occasionally looking back at Inuyasha. Sango was looking out the window and every so often she would look back at Miroku. We came to the mall and I parked as far away from the mall as I dared. I turned the car off and stepped out, going to where Inuyasha was. I stuck a hat on his head and shook him awake.
"What?" Inuyasha mumbled.
"C'mon Inu-kun," I whispered, "We're here."
"Are we?" he asked.
He looked around and found that Miroku was already out of the car, his arm around Sango's waist protectively. Inuyasha got out of the car with some help from me and we walked into the mall. Miroku, Sango and Inuyasha looked around at the mall in wonder. They were asking questions and we were getting weird glances from other people in the mall.
"There's so many new smells and noises," Inuyasha whispered.
"Of course," I said, "No C'mon! We're going to look for dresses first!"
Sango and I dragged the two boys to the prom store. It was filled with dresses, tuxes, jewelry, flowers, everything. Sango and me eagerly stated to pick out some dresses and went to the dressing rooms, having the boys sit and wait, which was very difficult for them. After a few dresses, Sango decided on a strapless red dress. It was simple, but elegant. Miroku just stared at her, eyes glazed over in awe. I started to laugh along with Inuyasha. Sango just stood there fuming and ended up slapping Miroku, who told her she looked like and Angel and kissed her softly.
Sango smiled and walked back into the dressing room to change into the clothes she was wearing before. It took me much longer to decide on a dress because Inuyasha was very picky. In the end, Inuyasha ended up having the same reaction as Miroku when I stepped out in a strapless black dress that tied in the back. I had to get right up in his face saying that I would say "the word" if he didn't tell me what he thought. He had finally snapped out of it and told me I was the most beautiful thing he had ever set eyes on. I blushed and quickly kissed him on the nose and dashed back into the dressing room.
"Ok," I said as I walked out, "Now it's time for the boys."
Miroku and Inuyasha looked at each other and visibly paled. We took the boys over to the tuxes and picked some out for them, and ushered them into the dressing rooms. They were extremely confused and Sango and I had to help them. It was sad yes, but Tuxes were quite complicated. After the boys understood how to put them on, Sango and I waited outside of the dressing rooms. Miroku walked out first in a simple black tux with a red shirt underneath. In truth, it looked really good on Miroku. Sango liked it too, but had him try on the other ones too. Inuyasha walked out in a light black tux with a blue shirt. I closed my eyes and shook my head. After about a half an hour of the boys trying on tuxes, Miroku decided on the first one he tried on and Inuyasha decided on an elegant white tux. I had to say, my Inuyasha looked very sexy. I looked down at my clock, it was only 4:30, we had already been at the mall for two and a half hours.
"So, what are we going to do now?" Sango asked.
"We could get some dinner, hang around at the mall or go home," I said.
"How about we get some dinner then go home," Sango said, looking towards the boys.
I nodded and walked towards the food court. Miroku and Inuyasha were starting to get tired, both Sango and me noticed it. Obviously they weren't use to the mall. Over the past month, Sango and me had been here at least three times. We ordered our food and sat down. We ate for about an hour then headed out to the car. It was 5:30 now and we'd be home by 6:30. The mall was quite far away from where we lived. I unlocked the car and sat in the driver's side. Sango sat up front again and the two boys were in the back. I turned the car on and left the mall. After the first few minutes, the boys were asleep. Miroku's head was on Inuyasha's shoulder and Inuyasha was leaning against the car door. I giggled quietly.
"Take a picture for me Sango," I said.
"Ok," Sango said.
I handed her the camera and showed her how to work it. She took the picture and Inuyasha moved so that Miroku was now leaning against the car door and Inuyasha's head was on his shoulder. Sango giggled and took another picture. After every picture, the boys would move into a different position and Sango used up the last seven pictures. As it ended up, both boys were leaning towards the center, Inuyasha's head on Miroku's shoulder, Miroku's head resting on Inuyasha's. Sango and I spent the last 45 minutes of the car ride talking about the new baby. Sango was now two and a half weeks along and complaining that it was taking too long. I pulled into the driveway and saw Shippo, Sota and Koga playing in the yard. Koga really got along great with my brother and Shippo. I got out of the car and opened Inuyasha's door. He was blinking the sleep out of his eyes and smiled at me, kissing me softly.
"We're home," I said.
"I see that," Inuyasha said, stifling a yawn.
I laughed and retrieved the dresses and Tuxes out of the car. The four of us walked inside, Koga following behind us. Inuyasha, Koga, Sango and Miroku sat down on the couch and I went upstairs to put the stuff we bought in my closet. I walked back downstairs and sat down in between Inuyasha and Koga.
"Let's watch a movie!" I said.
"Ok," they replied slowly.
I grinned and sprang up. I went over to our DVDs and looked through them. After a few minutes of debating, I decided on The New Guy. I put the movie in and sat back down next to Inuyasha. Miroku and Sango moved to the Love seat and Koga moved to the lazy boy he had taken a liking too. Inuyasha laid his head in my lap and closed his eyes. I looked over to see Sango in about the same predicament. The movie started and we watched it. In the beginning, Inuyasha fell asleep, but every time I laughed at something Inuyasha would wake up. After The New Guy, we watched a couple more movies and by the time we were done, it was almost midnight. Miroku and Sango headed upstairs and Inuyasha was still asleep.
"Hey Kagome," Koga said, "Can I talk to you?"
"Yeah, sure," I smiled and walked over to Koga. He stood up and wrapped his arms around me, kissing my cheek. "Koga-?"
"I was thinking about you a lot lately and I figured out that I think of you more like a sister," Koga said, "I know I'm really in love with Ayame. So I'm going to head back to my time. Be careful, little sister."
With that, Koga hugged me one last time and ran out of the house and through the well. I smiled and walked over to Inuyasha. I kissed his nose and shook him awake. He opened his eyes slowly and smiled at me, his eyes closing again.
"C'mon Inu, I know you're tired but you're not sleeping on the couch," I said.
"Keh," Inuyasha muttered.
He stood up and walked to my room, me following behind him. He walked into my room and collapsed onto my bed and almost instantly fell asleep. I grabbed my PJs and changed in the bathroom. I combed my hair and brushed me teeth and walked back into my room. I slipped under the covers and snuggled against Inuyasha. I could finally go to sleep and wake up in the morning and tell him how much I love him. I smiled and slowly drifted into a peaceful sleep.
