Don't Leave Me
Chapter Six
Prom Night
Kagome woke up and stared straight into the face of Inuyasha. His eyes were still closed and he was in a deep sleep. Kagome smiled and kissed his nose. It was already Saturday, the day of the prom. Quietly, she got out of bed and went into the bathroom. Turning on the warm water, she stepped into the shower and thought back to two days ago. It was amazing, Inuyasha actually loved her, it was a dream come true. She sighed happily and started to wash her hair slowly. When she was finished, she stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel tightly around her body. She reached for her clothes and found she forgot to bring a change of clothes with her into the bathroom.
"Kuso," she swore softly.
She walked quietly out of the bathroom and into her room. She grabbed a pair of hip hugger jeans, a tight sky blue shirt, her bra and a pair of underwear. She slipped out of her room and back into the bathroom. When she was done changing, she walked downstairs and into the kitchen. Miroku was already up and eating breakfast, Souta was already in the living room playing Video games.
"What are you doing up so early Miroku?" Kagome asked.
"It's not that early Kagome-sama," Miroku, "It's ten in the morning."
"Oh," Kagome said, she was quite for a moment, "Did mama leave?"
"Hai," Miroku replied, "She said something about the 'Jamakusai cat' needing more food."
"Oh, ok," Kagome said.
"Are you going to eat?" Miroku asked.
"Hai."
Kagome walked over to the cabinets and pulled out a bowl. She went to the pantry and took out some Captain Crunch cereal. She took the milk out of the refrigerator and sat down by Miroku. She poured her cereal and milk into the bowl and grabbed a spoon. The two ate in silence for a few minutes, until Sango's sleepy entrance. Miroku smiled and walked over to his fiancé, taking her into his arms. Kagome watched as Sango's eyes widened and she pulled back and slapped Miroku.
"Hentai," she murmured, sitting down next to Kagome.
"He never learns, does he?" Kagome asked.
"No, he doesn't," Sango said.
"Well, I'll leave you two alone," Kagome said.
She walked out of the kitchen after putting her dished away and walked into the computer room. She wanted to see if anyone was on and Inuyasha wasn't awake to keep her company yet. She sat down at the computer and turned it on. Waiting for a minute, she logged in and clicked on the AIM icon. She logged in and looked to see who was on. She groaned, Hojo, Eri, Yuka and Ayumi were on. Almost instantly an invitation to join their chat popped up. She clicked on yes and joined in on the chat.
AngleEri2: Morning Kagome!
Hojostar23: How are you?
KGirl888: I'm ok, I guess.
Crystalkat99: You sure? That demon boy being nice?
KGirl888: Yes Yuka, he's being very nice.
Booksr1: He seemed very nice when we were over there, just a little protective of Gome.
AngelEri2: Are you insane Ayumi?! Hojo deserves to be with Kagome!
Hojostar23: Are you sure you won't go to the prom with me Kagome?
KGirl888: I'm sure Hojo.
CrystalKat99: Remember what we talked about earlier Hojo?
Booksr1: You shouldn't be forcing this on Kagome you guys.
KGirl888: Forcing me into what guys?
Hojostar23: Kagome…you're going to the prom with me! Whether you like it or not!
KGirl888: N-nani?!
AngelEri2: Just like he said Kagome! You're going with Hojo!
CrystalKat99: He's so much nicer and sweeter than that so called boyfriend of yours!
Booksr1: really guys, I don't think we should do this!
KGirl888: Thanks Ayumi, at least one of you understands!
KGirl888 has left the roomKagome signed off and turned the computer off. She stared at the machine before her in disgust. That wasn't one of the best conversations she'd had online with her friends. Kagome sighed; they were really bent on her going with Hojo, weren't they? At least Ayumi understood, that's one down, three more to go. Kagome sighed again and stood up. She walked out of the computer room and back into the kitchen. Miroku and Sango were outside and Souta was upstairs playing more video games. Inuyasha still wasn't up.
'Oh well,' Kagome thought, 'I'll get him up at twelve.'
Kagome turned on the TV and started to watch a re-run of the Dead Zone. It was already about halfway through, but it didn't really matter to Kagome. After about half an hour it was over and Inuyasha still wasn't up. She sighed and looked at the clock. '12:00 Better get Inu-kun up.' I turned the TV off and walked quietly upstairs. She walked into the room and found Inuyasha, still sleeping peacefully, his bangs covering his closed eyes. She lay down on the bed next to him. He stirred a little bit but didn't wake up. Kagome moved the hair out of his face and kissed him softly on the lips.
"Morning Kagome," I mumbled sleepily against her lips.
"You're awake?" Kagome asked.
"Thanks to you," I grumbled.
"Sorry," Kagome snuggled against my chest, "It's already noon, and there's six hours before we have to leave."
"Plenty of time for me to sleep longer," I said.
"No, there isn't," Kagome said, getting up, "It's time to wake up."
"But I don't wanna," I wined.
"Oh well, I'll say 'the word' if you don't get up and I won't make you ramen for lunch!" Kagome threatened.
I shot up at that and smiled innocently at my girlfriend. She raised an eyebrow at me and was about to say something when I crushed my lips onto hers for a passionate kiss. She gave off a small gasp and I slipped my tongue into her mouth and tasted every inch of her mouth. She tasted so sweet. I felt her grin against my lips and she started to wrestle with my tongue. It surprised me and I gasped, allowing her to take control. I was lost in the moment when-
"Oh gross! Do that somewhere else!" came Souta's annoying voice.
Kagome and I jumped apart. She smiled sheepishly and I just glared at the young boy. Souta's face fell and he rushed out of the room. I growled and chased after him downstairs. Kagome laughed and followed downstairs after me. Miroku and Sango were now inside and Kagome grabbed Sango's hand and pulled her out of the room.
"Hey! Where are you going?!" Miroku asked.
"Out!" Kagome said, "We'll be back in a few hours!"
I was about to say something, but Kagome and Sango were already out the door. I looked at Miroku, then at Souta. I grinned evilly and Souta gulped. I started to chase after him again and started to tickle him when I caught him. He started laughing and I just kept on with my tickling attack.
"Ok! Ok!" Souta gasped, "I give up! You win!"
"Keh," I said, getting off of him, "I always win."
Souta nodded his head vigorously, "So, since the girls are gone, who wants to play video games?"
Miroku and I exchanged a glance. "Bring it on!"

-K POV-
"You sure it was a good idea to leave the boys home alone with Souta?" Sango asked.
"Of course!" I said, "They'll just play video games all day."
"Don't they need to change for the prom?" Sango asked.
"Yeah," I replied, taking a sip of my soda, "But that's why we'll be home and yell at them to get ready."
Sango laughed, "We're going to need to help them again."
"Of course we are," I said, "They're too dumb to figure out how to get those things on all by themselves."
Sango giggled and threw away her food. I followed suit and we walked out of the restaurant and back into the car. We spent the next three hours at the mall. First, we went and saw "White Chicks". Sango was amazed at the technology and we both laughed our asses off. After the movie, we walked around the mall for a while, since there was nothing else to do. We bought a few things at different stores and just sat on the leather couches and talked. Soon enough, I mentioned that we should be heading back, since we needed to get ready. When we got back, Souta was playing video games with Inuyasha and Miroku was asleep on the couch. We closed the door behind us softly. I walked over to Inuyasha and Sango walked over to Miroku.
"INUYASHA!"
"MIROKU!"
We screamed at the same time. All three boys jumped up and held their hands to their chest, panting heavily. I looked at Sango and we burst out laughing. Sango held onto the arm of the couch for support and I leaned against the wall.
"What the hell was that for?!" Inuyasha yelled.
"Oh, nothing really," I said, once I calmed down, "It was the perfect opportunity. Sorry Inu."
"Now, it's time to get ready," Sango said.
"Ready?!" Inuyasha asked.
"It's in three hours!" Miroku said.
"Exactly and we need to be ready in exactly three hours," I said matter-o-factly, "So, we're getting ready now."
The boys groaned as me and Sango dragged them upstairs. Sango and I were going to get ready in my room and the boys were getting ready in Souta's room.
"If you need any help, just call us, we're right next door," I said, giving them their tuxes and shutting the door behind me.
"So, you think they're going to need our help?" I asked.
"Yeah, probably," Sango said.
I giggled and pulled out my dress. I sat down on my bed and waited for Sango to come out of the shower. Within a few minutes, she had come back into the room, a towel wrapped tightly around her body and another towel wrapped around her head. I smiled at her and walked out of the room and into the bathroom. I slipped out of my clothes and took a quick shower. Turning the water off, I wrapped a towel around my body and another around my head and walked out of the bathroom. I stepped back into my room and found Sango, with her dress already on and the towel still in her hair. I dried myself off and slipped into my dress. It really was beautiful.
"Sango!"
"Kagome!"
"We're coming!" I called.
Sango and I exchanged a glance then giggled, walking to Souta's room. The boys were halfway dressed. I smiled and walked over to Inuyasha to help him get dressed while Sango helped Miroku. Soon enough, the boys had their tuxes on and were looking very sharp.
"Now Miroku," I said, "You have to have your hair down."
"Why?" he asked.
"Because," I said, "You always have it up so we're doing something different."
Miroku sighed and took his hair out of the normal ponytail. His shoulder length black hair tousled from being in a ponytail. I grabbed a brush, and much to Miroku's distaste, brushed his hair. In a few minutes, his hair was soft and shiny.
"There! Much better," I said.
"I like it down like that Miro," Sango said.
"Thank you, love," Miroku smiled.
"Now Inuyasha," I started.
"You are not doing anything with my hair!" he snapped.
"Don't worry! I like your hair the way it is," I assured, Inuyasha sighed, "What are we going to do about your ears?"
"I can hide them in my hair," he said.
"You can do that?" I asked.
He nodded and hid his ears in his hair. True, it was uncomfortable for him, but he didn't show it. I smiled and kissed his cheek. I motioned to Sango and we walked out of the room to finish getting ready. By 5:50, everyone was ready and we were about to walk out of the door and into my car when my mom caught up with us.
"Oh honey you look so beautiful," she said, kissing my cheeks, "There's no need for you to drive! There's a stretch limo waiting for you."
My eyes widened, "You got us a limo?"
"Hai," she said.
"Thank you mama!" I squealed.
"What's a li-mou?" Inuyasha asked.
"It's a type of car," I explained, "A really nice car, you'll see."
I took his hand and the four of us walked to the limo. When we all got inside, Inuyasha, Sango and Miroku were amazed. It seated around fifteen people, there was a mini bar with all types of soda, the seats were comfortable leather and there were five TVs placed around the inside. The window separating the back and the front rolled down.
"Is there anything you want Miss. Higurashi?"
"Kiro?" I asked, "You're a limo driver?"
"Yeah, my other job," Kiro answered.
"Could we have some music?" Sango asked.
"Of course Miss. Sango," Kiro said, "What would you like?"
"Evanescence!" Sango said.
Kiro smiled and rolled the window up and in a few seconds Evanescence's "My Immortal" played through the limo. Me and Sango smiled at each other and began to sing with the music. We snuggled with Inuyasha and Miroku and just waited until we came to the school. After awhile, the limo stopped and the door opened, revealing Kiro in a sharp tux, holding the door open. Sango and I got out first, followed by Miroku and Inuyasha. I gave Kiro a hug and muttered him a soft thanks and walked into the school, leading my friends to the ballroom. The ballroom was elegant in itself. They had decided to build it around two years ago just for dances. Banners and streamers covered the walls and silver glitter covered the floor.
"Miss. Kagome Higurashi," Mr. Kile said, "Who are your friends?"
"This is my boyfriend Inuyasha and my friends Sango and Miroku," I said, "They live up near my aunt."
"I see, you're sitting at table twenty-seven, right next to Hojo's table," Mr. Kile said.
"Great," I muttered, "Thanks Mr. Kile!"
I walked over to my table and sat down next to Sango and Inuyasha. I kept my back towards the table that my so-called "friends" sat at and ignored them. A few songs came on at first where many of the couples were out dancing, whether it be slow or fast. Then Mr. Kile, the principal walked up to the stage and took the mic from the DJ.
"Welcome to the prom for the class of 2007!" Mr. Kile said, the room burst into cheers, "Now I know that this will be enjoyable to you all, so, abide by the school rules and have fun!"
He gave the mic back and walked off the stage. More music came on and more couples went onto the dance floor. I watched as Sango dragged Miroku off to the dance floor to dance. I sat with Inuyasha at the table still and he growled.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"They're talking about you," he whispered.
"It's ok Inuyasha," I said, giving his hand a gentle squeeze, "Why don't we go and dance?"
Inuyasha blushed at this, "I don't know how…"
"It's ok Inu, I can-" I was cut off by someone clearing their throat. I looked up and saw Hojo standing near me, a smile on his face.
"Kagome-chan! Would you mind dancing with me?" he asked.
"Sorry Hojo," I said sweetly, "But I was just going to go and dance with Inuyasha."
"Oh…ok," he said sadly.
Hojo walked back to his table and whispered something in Eri's ear. Ayumi frowned but didn't do anything more. I stood up and pulled Inuyasha to the dance floor. I placed his arms around my waist and I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him close to me, resting my head on his shoulders.
"What are we suppose to do?" he asked quietly.
"Just follow my lead," I whispered as I started to dance.
I sit and wait
Does an angel
Contemplate my fate?
And do they know
The places where we go?
When we're gray and old
Cause I've been told
That salvation lets their wings unfold
So when I'm lying in my bed
Thoughts running through my head
And I feel that love is dead
I'm loving angels instead
And through it all
He offers me protection
A lot of love and affection
Whether I'm right or wrong
And down the waterfall
Wherever it may take me
I know that life won't break me
When I come to call
He won't forsake me
I'm loving angels instead
When I'm feeling weak
And my pain walks down a one-way street
I look above
And I know I'll always be blessed with love
And as the feeling grows
He breathes flesh to my bones
And when love is dead
I'm loving angels instead
And through it all
He offers me protection
A lot of love and affection
Whether I'm right or wrong
And down the waterfall
Wherever it may take me
I know that life won't break me
When I come to call
He won't forsake me
I'm loving angels instead
I'm loving angels instead, ohhh oh yeah
And through it all
He offers me protection
A lot of love and affection
Whether I'm right or wrong
And down the waterfall
Wherever it may take me
I know that life won't break me
When I come to call
He won't forsake me
I'm loving angels instead
I looked up at Inuyasha when the song came to an end. He rested his forehead on mine and placed a quick kiss on my lips.
"I love you," he whispered.
"I love you too," I said softly.
Inuyasha pulled me closer to his body and we stayed on the dance floor for the next four or five slow songs. Inuyasha didn't really want to dance to a fast song, so we went back to the table, where Miroku and Sango were sitting and talking. Little did they know the plan that Eri, Yuka and Hojo had in store for them.
"Hey guys," I said once I sat down, "What are you talking about?"
"The baby," Sango said, smiling.
"Oh!" I said, leaning towards Sango from across the table, "Are you guys gonna build a house?"
"That's what we were thinking," Miroku said.
I smiled, once Inuyasha had asked me to be his mate, we had to decide whether we wanted to live here in my time, or in Inuyasha's. To tell the truth, I wasn't exactly sure if I wanted to live in the Feudal era or here near my family. I was so deep in thought, that I didn't notice Sango tapping my shoulder.
"Kagome!"
"Huh? What?"
"Come with me?"
"Sure," I said. I walked away with Sango to the bathrooms.
"What's wrong Sango?" I asked.
"I'm afraid," Sango whispered.
"Afraid of what?" I asked.
"What if Miroku really doesn't love me? What if he only wanted to be with me to get a baby?" Sango asked.
"Sango, I can tell that Miroku loves you," I assured her, "Don't worry."
Sango smiled and hugged me, "Thanks."
At that moment, the door to the bathroom burst open and Yuka stood in the doorway, panting.
"Kagome!" Yuka cried, "Inuyasha just kissed Eri! I saw it with my own eyes! He said that he would rather be with her then you!"
"Nani?" I asked.
Yuka sighed and grabbed my hand, pulling me back to the ballroom. She pushed her way through the crowd and pointed Inuyasha out to me. I gasped at what I saw. Inuyasha stood there, his eyes closed, kissing Eri, his arms wrapped around her. Tears blurred my vision and I ran out of the ballroom, Sango and Miroku hot on my heels. I opened the door to the school and ran out to the limo. I opened the door and got in. Miroku and Sango got in a few seconds after me and were comforting me.
"I thought he loved me!" I cried into Sango's shoulder.
"Shh…it's ok Kagome," Sango soothed, stroking my hair.
Kiro took off, knowing that Kagome wanted to go home. When they were home, I got out and ran to my room, not bothering to tell my mom I was home. Sango followed me upstairs and she found me lying on my bed, crying my heart out. She sat down next to me and rubbed my back.
"There's got to be a reasonable explanation for why he did that," Sango said.
I just cried harder. What if what Yuka said was true? I felt Sango get off the bed and knew that she was changing. I got up and did the same. I told her that I just needed some time to be alone and she nodded and walked out of the room. I changed into something more comfortable and sat on my bed, looking through a photo book that was filled with pictures from Feudal Japan. I heard the window open and I knew Inuyasha had come in through that way.
"Have you been crying?" he asked.
"Hai," I said coldly.
"What's your problem?"
"You! That's what! You were kissing Eri!" I snapped.
"Kagome! Listen to me!" he said.
"No! I saw what I saw! JUST LEAVE!" I yelled.
There was silence for a minute and I heard the door slam and I knew he went back to his time and I cried. I heard my cell phone ringing and I ignored it, but it became annoying and I answered it, flipping it open harshly.
"What?" I demanded.
"Kagome-chan?"
"Ayumi?" I asked.
"Um…I suppose they already kissed?" she asked.
"Who kissed? What do you mean?"
"HojoEriandYukahadaplanforEritokissInuyashaandplacetheblameonhimsothatyouwouldgetmadandcomecrawlingtoHojo," she explained quickly.
"Nani?"
"Inuyasha didn't kiss Eri! She kissed him, and he went into shock, but when he smelt you, he slapped Eri, she has claw marks across her face, it's not Inuyasha's fault," Ayumi said.
"Really?" I asked.
"Yes really!"
"Oh shit," I whispered, "Gotta go!"
I hung up the phone and threw it on my bed. I ran downstairs and to the well. I jumped into the well and climbed up and ran towards the Goshinboku as fast as I could. When I got there, I knew Inuyasha was up in the branches sulking.
"Inuyasha?" I asked.
"Keh, what wench?!" he yelled.
I flinched, "Can you come down?"
"Why? Just so you can accuse me of something again?" he snapped.
"Listen! Ayumi just called me and she said it wasn't your fault!" I said, "Please come down…"
"No!"
"Please Inuyasha!" I pleaded, "I'm so sorry, just please, come down and talk to me."
My voice started to crack and tears threatened to fall. Inuyasha sensed this and jumped down, looking at me with concern written in his face.
"Don't cry," he whispered, lifting my chin so he could look into my eyes.
"I didn't mean to make assumptions," I whispered, "But seeing you kiss her…"
"I know," he whispered, pulling me into a tight embrace, "And I'm sorry…I was in shock…I didn't know what I was doing until after you saw…"
"It's ok, I know," I said, "Ayumi explained it to me."
He smiled at me. "I love you."
"I love you too."
I stood on my tiptoes and kissed him softly. He broke the kiss and picked me up, running back to the well. He jumped down the well and the bright blue light engulfed us. He jumped out of the well and set me down. We walked back into the house, hand in hand.
"I guess it was a misunderstanding?" Sango asked, smiling at us.
"Hai," I said.
"That's good," Miroku said, "It was nice when you two didn't fight."
Inuyasha glared at Miroku and dragged me up the stairs. By now the prom was long since over and it was almost midnight. Inuyasha walked into my room and sat down on the bed. I went to the window and closed it so the warm air wouldn't come in. I heard Inuyasha leave the room and lay down on the bed. I closed my eyes and listened for Inuyasha to come back into the room. A few minutes later, Inuyasha came back into my room in just a pair of boxers. I felt him slid into my bed next to me. I snuggled against his chest and he wrapped his arms around me.
"Night Kag," he whispered.
"Night Inu,' I said softly and I fell asleep.
Inuyasha played with a strand of my hair, breathing in my scent before he too, fell asleep.
