Chapter 11: Forever Your's
Soft sunshine filled the room as I opened my eyes. Someone was holding me very close to their soft body. A very naked, very happy-to-be-there person. As I began to wake up I noticed that I was also naked. I turned my head to see Spike sleeping beside me, holding me tight. I felt safe laying there, reminiscing about the previous night. I had gone much farther than I had intended to. I had been the one who'd said I wanted to take it slow. He'd been fine with it. After my last relationship with a vampire, I had not been too keen on going that far with one again. But I guess it didn't really matter. After all, Spike didn't have a soul, he had a chip.
If he ever got that chip out, he'd be a monster again. I didn't want to be around when that happened. But I wanted this relationship with him. It was fun to be with Spike. He was so caring, but rough and adventurous and even dangerous when he needed to be. Angel hadn't been exciting at all. He was just sweet, no imagination, no pain, almost no pleasure. I had loved him though. This thing with Spike wasn't love. It was just a fling, something that would go as quickly as it had come. Wasn't it?
Spike started to move and his eyes fluttered open. We lay still and watched each other for a few minutes. He slowly brought his hand up to cup my cheek and caressed it langorously, working his way to my lips with his thumb. He ran his thumb over my lower lip lightly and I shuddered. He moved closer to me to draw me into a thorough kiss. I ran my hands down his back and teased him lazily. I felt him grow hard under my touch. I hadn't planned on this again, but last night had felt so good, so right. I gave in to my feelings and let Spike rule me.
Until I heard someone knocking on my door. I sat up so suddenly that Spike was thrown to the floor with a loud thump. He knew enough to be quiet. The knocking began again along with a small voice saying, "Buffy? Are you okay? What was that noise? Buffy, open the door." It was Dawn. How much had she heard?
I turned to Spike, "Get in the closet! Hurry!" He jumped up and squished himself into a corner of the tiny closet and threw a blanket over him. I unlocked the door and let Dawn in the room.
"Good morning Dawnie. You'd better get dressed. Can't be late for school."
"Buffy, today's Saturday. There is no school. "
"Oh right. Well, what are you doing today? Going somewhere with your friends?" Dawn shook her head. "Well, you should. Go call someone. Go to a movie. Here's twenty dollars."
"Are you alright?"
"I'm fine. Go on now. Get out of here." I started to shut the door.
"Buffy wait. What's going on with you and Spike? I saw you two on the couch last night. You looked pretty friendly, you know what I mean?"
"Nothing's going on Dawnie. We're just friends. That's all."
"Maybe you think so, but he sure wants more."
"It's okay. I'll worry about that if it comes up. You go on and have fun. Why don't you stay over so I won't have to worry about you not being home while I patrol? I'll see you later. And Dawn? I love you. Don't forget that."
"I love you too Buffy. Bye."
I shut the door as she walked down the stairs. Spike climbed out of the closet and came toward me. He took my hand and led me to the bed. He pulled me down to sit on his lap. This was not good. He was upset.
"What's wrong, Spike? Talk to me."
"Did you mean what you said to Dawn? Do you really want to be just friends? Cuz if that's all you want I need to know. I don't want that. I want more. I want a thousand more nights like last night. It meant alot to me. Did it mean anything to you?"
I didn't know what to tell him. He trailed his hands over my thighs and up my arms which made it hard to think. I moved off his lap to sit beside him. Now I could think. It felt so right to be with him. I loved it. But what to say?
"Last night did mean something to me. I've never... it felt.. so right to be with you, to make love to you. I won't lie. I know it's wrong for a vampire and a slayer to be together. Been there, done that, bought the tee shirt. But I also know that I want this to work out more than anything. Spike, I think, no, I know that, well, I'm in love with you."
"You don't know how long I've waited to hear those words from you Buffy Summers. I have loved you for so long. I will always love you. I want to be with you forever."
"I want to be with you forever too. Will you help me?"
"Do you know what you're asking, love? Don't make this decision lightly. It is a very permanent choice."
"I'm sure. I know exactly what I'm doing. Let's do it tonight at your crypt."
"What about the others?"
"They'll try to stop me. I can't tell anyone. We'll have to be careful. I'll have to leave a note for Dawn to not try to find me. Giles will take care of her. We'll leave at sundown."
"Okay, pet. It's your choice."
Several hours later
Buffy watched the sun set for the last time. A single tear slid down her cheek. She wiped it away without a second thought. She turned back into the room and watched her lover as he slept. This time tomorrow she would be with him forever.
Spke began to stir. She went to him and sat on the bed. He slowly opened his eyes and locked them onto her's.
"Why have you been crying?"
"It's nothing. Let's go."
"Do you want to change your mind?"
"No. I'm tired. Not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. I don't want to live like this anymore. I want to pass the job to someone else. It's their turn now. Let's go."
They didn't speak again until they arrived at Spike's crypt. At the door, Spike lifted Buffy into his arms and carried her to the bed.
"Do you want to do this the short way or the long way?"
"What would the short version be like?"
Spike kneeled beside her and bit into her neck without drawing blood.
"And the long way?"
Spike immediately covered her mouth with his and slowly kissed her. He pulled back enough to let her speak.
"The long way Spike. Definately the long way."
He lifted her until she was sitting up in the bed and slowly removed her shirt. Then reached behind her to unclasp her bra and threw it to the floor. She quickly removed his shirt and began working on his pants. He slowly pushed her down onto the bed....... He lowered his head to her neck and she knew what was coming and braced herself for the pain. He placed one hand on the bed to balance himself and the other behind her back to lift her to him. He nuzzled her neck at first, then as they both neared the peak of their passion, he bit into her neck. She never felt any pain, only intense pleasure. When he was finished, he took a knife from the table beside the bed and cut his own chest. Buffy leaned to suck at his chest and moaned in ecstasy as she tasted the blood. Finally, she slowly sank into unconciousness and Spike held her close and slept.
