*~*Chapter 4~*~
I watched as the daylight crawls
Past the shadows hanging on the wall
It's been a long time since I've felt the stain
Of yesterday getting in my way

I hardly slept last night, and when I did it didn't feel like rest. My dreams were filled with images of the past that mutated into nightmares of the future. In the worst one, Piper says nothing to me; no yelling, screaming, blaming: Nothing. She opens the door and I start to talk, she doesn't even hear me, doesn't see me so I start to shout at her. I tell her how much I'm sorry, that I know she's hurting but I'm so sorry. She still hasn't heard me and she shuts the door and turns away from me. Maybe it means something, maybe I've left it too long to see her or maybe it means I should go and see her soon. Before I've been gone for too long.
Whatever it means, I need to leave our flat now. The walls have got darker, there are shadows everywhere and I feel like I can't breathe. Anyway, I have to take lara to her first gymnastics class here. It lasts 3 hours and it's my only chance to see Piper without Lara there. My God, I'm so nervous I doubt I'll be able to hide it from Lara. -x-

My first Gym class in this city. Mom usually leaves it 2 or 3 weeks before getting a class for me in each city we move too (we get recommendations from my last teacher). This time I've got my first lesson in a week of moving. She's shouting my name, saying we have to go now. She sounds so nervous, almost frantic. Surely that's wrong, shouldn't I be the nervous one? -x-

Saturdays in our family are always the same. Aunt Paige, Charlotte and Helena all come over for a big breakfast that my mom cooks. All 9 of us eat together then my mom and Aunt Paige actually want to clear up. Of course it takes them ages because they talk about everything when they do it. So when they're clearing away, us kids and Dad go in the sitting room. We usually end up playing something that Grace or Helena have picked. Anyway, today was different. We were in the middle of playing Helena's favorite game of the moment, Hide and Seek (Hide and go Peek), when the doorbell rang. Charlotte, who was looking for us all, had been walking past the door anyway, so she answered it. Quickly she swung the door open- she was impatient that the game had been interrupted.
A woman stood on the step. She was about the same height as Mom but had lighter hair. A nagging feeling of familiarity began to rise up inside me, and all remembrance of the game flew out my head. I stood up from my hiding place on the stairs and walked down until I was standing in the hallway. For reasons that I don't know, I was really curious about who this visitor was. Charlotte, however, was growing increasingly impatient. The game had been interrupted by a woman who had stood on our front step completely silent for about 2 minutes.
"Hi. What d'you want?" Charlotte asked with characteristic bluntness that the woman was slightly taken aback by.
"Erm... does Piper Halliwell live here?" She asked, her voice got stronger as she spoke but nothing could hide the nervousness that colored her eyes.
"Sure," Charlotte answered before turning and yelling into the house, "There's someone at the door for you Aunt Piper!"
For whatever reason, the woman looked slightly shocked at what Charlotte had said. At the same time, Dad came out of the sitting room, he made brief eye contact with the woman. A look passed through their faces-they knew one another. She didn't hold the look for long and quickly looked away. Mom came out of the kitchen, into the hall-Aunt Paige was behind her. They were laughing. Neither of them saw the visitor's face; she'd already started to run down the stairs. But that didn't matter. Mom's smile dropped immediately as her eyes fell on the woman moving away from her. -x-
