Authors Note:
Hey guys. This chapter is a shorty, but I figured a short chapter is better than no chapter.
Thank you to all reviewers. Based on new ideas that I have received from everyone, I decided to go with a combo of two different reviews for where this story is going. Thank you ti everyone, and if I am writing based on what you said in your review, THANK YOU I AM FOREVER IN YOUR DEBT!! You know who you are.
I hope to get the next chapter out soon, and I promise it'll be twice as long as this one.
That's all. Read on my friends.
* Rain's Point Of View *
I am so freaked out.
Domon is driving us both to the police station to be questioned. Well, not really to the actual police station. He said that the police told him that they wanted to question me in a private place, where the media wouldn't be around. I guess I can agree with that.
But something doesn't feel right.
It must be just nerves. I'm so nervous right now, I'm glad Domon is here. I reach out for his hand, and he encompasses my hand with his. Tears run silently down my face as pulls up to the hotel. Authorities are supposed to meet us inside in some conference room. I get out of the car and walk onto the sidewalk, trying not to catch his gaze. He races out of the car, locking it without even looking. I speed up, hoping to dart into the bathroom before he can see me weak and afraid.
"Rain stop."
I knew it wouldn't be so easy.
I stop, turn, and look at him, his eyes full of hurt and bewilderment. He doesn't have a clue why I'm running away. And frankly, neither do I. Noticing the tears streaming down my face, he closes the gap between us and places his arms securely around my back. He holds me there for a minute with no further movements. I turn my head sideways and look out at the busy road. I'm sure there are people in those cars talking and laughing. What I wouldn't give to be one of those people...
"Rain...what's wrong? You aren't mad at me for having to bring you to this place, are you?"
I think about that for a minute before speaking.
"Domon, it's not your fault that I have to be here. I just want this to be over and done with so I can move on. I want to be a normal human being again, not the top news story. I want to get back to my life. My life...with you."
He is quiet for a minute, and I start thinking maybe he doesn't want me in his life. I look up at him, searching for an answer. It doesn't take long to find one. His face is full of emotion. His lips are curled into a smile, eyes watering with raw bliss.
"You want me in your life?"
"Yes Domon. I want you in my life for a long time."
He leans down for a kiss. I give him a short, charming one, letting him in, letting him see me at my lowest point, see who I really am. And he embraces it. He embraces me not for my looks, or for my brains, but for who I really am.
"I love you Rain."
"I love you Domon."
"I won't leave you Rain, I promise I will be right by your side the entire time."
"Thank you. That means a lot to me."
"YOU mean a lot to me."
He breaks the embrace, puts his arm around my back, turns us both towards the hotel entrance, and stands there for a minute.
"Ready?"
I sigh and take a deep breath.
"What choice do I have?"
He smiles lovingly at me.
"I've learned to ask for permission lately."
I lean in and hug him again, reassuring him that he is forgiven.
"Oh have you? Well, that's courteous."
"I try."
"I know."
I look up at him, gazing into his beautiful chocolate eyes, and I can feel myself being pulled into his stare. My feet lift of the ground, and I warp at hyper speed into our own world, far away from all of the hate and violence. I feel so safe and secure, like I could stay here forever. Nothing can hurt me here, nothing...
"Ms. Mikamura? Ms. Mikamura?"
I let out a groan before turning around to look at the official.
"Yes. Yes I am here."
"Okay, right this way you two."
I literally have to use all of my self-control to take myself out of Domon's arms. They are like my safe zone, and it takes a lot to get myself out of a place where I feel secure when I don't want to. I look up at him, his eyes full of compassion and sorrow. He takes my hand, and a step forward.
A step towards doom.
