*-* Domon's Point Of View *-*
I took a step forward, going slow and steady, trying not to put any more pressure on Rain. This strange police officer seemed to have that under control. She gave me a worried glance, so I took her hand.
"Remember, I am with you always." I whispered into her ear.
Nodding, she followed me, and I slowed down to keep pace with her. As we entered the building, she nearly jumped out of her skin at the sound of a garbage truck emptying the bins outside. I put my arm around her waist, holding her near.
"Right in here please."
The officer showed us into a small room with a table, a bench, and three chairs, where two other detectives already sit.
"We need to get one thing straight mister," I say, wanting to let it be known that I mean business, "no one, and I mean NO ONE tales Rain away from me. She and I are to stay right here, together. Get it?"
"We got it."
"Good."
Rain shoots me a thankful smile, and I return it. She and I take the bench, and she scoots close to me. I leave my arm around her, my hand placed fixedly at her waist. She huddles close for warmth and comfort, and I kiss her cheek softly.
"Alright you two, I am going to need to ask you a few things. Ms. Mikamura, can you please describe the night you were imprisoned?"
Rain draws in a shaky breath, and I squeeze her side for support. Silent sobs overtake her frail body as she re-tells her horrific experience. I can't help but admire her bravery as she gives detectives every detail she can recall. When she gets to the part where I bust into the room Seitt has held her hostage in, I can't help but interrupt.
"Excuse me? Umm... excuse me?"
Rain looks over at me, her make-up running down her tearstained face, painting her expression like a poorly done clown.
"I can take it from here." I say.
I don't think Rain can take much more of this. I had to intervene. Her face is drained of all sense of emotion and life. I hate seeing her like this. Not her physical appearance, no, no, I could never hate that. I hate seeing her so hurt, so afraid, while I sit here not being able to do a thing about it. It kills me.
The officer looks around at his fellow officials, then back at me.
"Okay. Why don't you tell us what happened after you rushed into the room to rescue Ms. Mikamura."
Rain lets out a huge sigh and falls against my chest, exhausted. I bring a hand up and wrap my arms around her torso, holding her tight. I watch her close her eyes before looking back up to the officers and telling them everything that happened after I rushed in to beat the living hell out of Seitt, something I secretly hoped I would have the chance to do again.
How wrong I was to wish for such a thing. It came true, but honestly, I wish it wouldn't have.
*-* Rain's Point Of View *-*
I lean into Domon, letting myself be held and comforted. I don't know how he knew that I needed him to take over. Heck, I didn't even send him a look. That sense of his must have picked it up. His hand is gently stroking my stomach, and I have never felt something so good in my entire life. I can't wait to get out of here.
Suddenly, I realize no one is talking. I hear the sound of chairs scraping the floor, and open my eyes. The detectives are walking out of the room.
"Domon." I whisper.
"Yes?"
"Is it over?" I ask hopefully.
"No," he frowns, "the detectives said they need us to stay here for a few minutes."
"Oh."
I turn around and face him, sitting on his lap, but my body turned in towards him. He brings up a gentle hand and strokes m face. I lean over and kiss him, one full of longing and desire. We kiss again and again, and soon, it's become a full-fledged make out session.
"Domon, Domon hold on, wait."
He immediately recoils, remembering the last time I said that. His eyes are full of concern, worry, and mostly puzzlement. I smile, trying to diminish his fears.
"Relax Domon, it's okay. I just don't want anyone walking in on us."
He looks down and then up again, smiling from ear to ear.
"Save it for later?" he asks, feigning innocence.
"You read my mind." I say with a mischievous smile.
I sag back into the bench, fidgeting around, trying to find a comfortable spot.
"Well, in the meantime, let me hold you. You look like you need someone right now."
I turn, sit on his lap, and put my arms around his neck, and he supports my back. I close my eyes for a moment before opening them again and staring up at him.
"The someone I need is you. Thanks for being here, and for taking over with the detectives. I owe you one."
He smiles and brushes his lips lightly against mine.
"Nah, we're even. As for this interview, the worst is over I hope."
We sit in companionable silence for a while, when Domon brings up an unusual topic.
"You'd be a great mom Rain."
I trace his stomach muscles for a second before I answer.
"What made you think of that?"
"Looking at you."
I blush before responding. "Domon Kashuu, should I take that as an indication of any of your future plans?"
"No, I was just saying that you'd be an excellent mother. You are caring, strong, understanding, loving, fun, thoughtful, responsible, and you relate well to other people."
"You think I'd be that great?
"Definitely."
"Well," I grin, "I've always heard that the trick is finding the right man. It's said that his DNA determines everything about the child, so you have to marry a good-looking one. Come to think of it, you're pretty good-looking."
He smiles, picking up the hint.
"Am I now?"
"Yeah, you'd be a great dad. Our kids would be damn cute."
"Rain!"
"Hey, I'm just stating facts." I comment, laughing.
"Nice facts." he says laughing along with me.
"They are."
I turn around, twisting so that I'm sitting on top of Domon and his arms are around my front. His hands fall pretty low, but I don't mind. I know he wouldn't do something like that on purpose. I lean my head back on his left shoulder and relish in this moment.
"I'm glad you are in my life Domon."
"I'm glad too."
"Promise it'll stay that way?"
"I promise."
I slide out of Domon's lap as the officials return. I notice they aren't the same ones from before, and that scares me a little bit. I look over at Domon, and he has his eyebrows raised. He puts a protective arm around me, and I am thankful for it.
"Who are you?" he says in a fierce tone, a tone so different then the one he uses with me. It's almost scary; I'm glad he's on my side.
"Detectives Halder and Nett, the ones to whom you were just speaking to, have ended their shift, and we are to take over. Sorry that took so long, we were reviewing their notes. But I'm sure you two found a way to keep busy." one of the officers sneered.
I shuddered at the man's words. I had a strange feeling he had been watching us.
