Smile.
One smile, just one small smile could be contagious, so contagious that every mortal being on earth would be smiling right now.
Smile.
A symbol of happiness, contentment, pure bliss...
Or a mask, hiding fears, pain and terror...
Smile.
Just a smile could make such a big difference.
A matter of life and death in a battle, never letting your opponents read your mind...
Or it could spread to another passer-by, which would lead to another person smiling, and another and another...
Smile.
How was it possible that one smile could have so many meanings?
Such great depth...
It was just so confusing...
Philosophies and science have yet to explain such a simple thing as a smile...
Scholars were still struggling with the meaning of life...
And yet, a man have grasped the concept. He had spread it to everyone else who came into contact with him.
He had shown compassion, kindness, the pure meaning of humanity.
And ended his simple explanation with a smile.

"It's a beautiful day, isn't it?" He said out aloud to no one.
Soujiro got up from his sitting place, a large rock which he had previously rested upon. Slinging his small bag filled with his precious belongings over his shoulder, he began his journey on the dusty road once again.
Everyone, every living mortal have their reason for smiling. Be it because they were happy or simply trying to hide their sorrows...
A smile can save someone. I know it's true because it saved me.
Thank you, Himura Kenshin.
You've shown me the real meaning of smiling.
I smile, for myself, not for anyone else...
And most importantly, I smile because I'm alive.

A/N : This is just a one shot fic that I felt like writing. I was just wondering, did Soujiro ever wondered what smiling is all about? Sure, he smiled coz he thought that his abusive family looked funny but I was sure that there was an even greater meaning behind his simple smile. So here it is...
