Chapter 2: Big explanations and excuses.
When Christopher got upstairs Lorelai was shutting the door behind her. She looked at him and her eyes told him not to go inside.
- She wants to be alone- Lorelai explained- Let's get Ristie to school in the meantime.
- OK.
They walked down the stairs, Chris still holding Ristie in his arms. They went outside and got in the car. Nobody managed to talk, not even Ristie; they were too concentrated on their feelings to say anything.
When husband and wife arrived home after dropping Ristie at school, they sat on the living room and started to talk about how to address the issue with a daughter they haven't seen in 15 years:
- What are we going to tell her- Lorelai started- That her parents were to coward to keep her?
- No…- he started, but was interrupted by his wife.
- That we screwed up when we had her- She continued, now crying- That we weren't brave enough to contradict our parents? That we agreed to adoption because deep in our hearts we knew it was the easiest solution? That we knew we could have been able to take care of her and raise her perfectly but we didn't want to? Because it was too hard?
- Lor…- Christopher got up and hugged her- That's not what she needs to hear. Remember when you were her age and had a fight with your parents. ¿What would you like to hear? I think she needs a little space and time to figure out what to do and forgive her parents. She came to us because she knew it was going to be hard for her parents to find her here, but they will, eventually.
- You're right- she was calming down.
- She hasn't come looking for new parents, even if it looks like, she wants her parents to think so.
- No I don't, I want new parents- It was Rory, she had been on the stairs all the time, listening the conversation.- I knew you didn't want me, and you had your reasons, but I need you guys now.
- Rory…- Chris started, but she was already in the living room and interrupted him
- You don't know all the things my mom said to me. The way she insulted me, how disappointed she was. All because I'm pregnant. She said I was just like my mother, that she thought she could change that by adopting me, but she couldn't. I didn't know I was adopted, until now. I didn't run away, she kicked me out. She said she wouldn't have bastards living at home. I thought that maybe you could understand me, you've been there. So I came here. I'm sorry to come over unannounced, but I had no money to make a call. I found your address in the yellow pages and came straight here.
- It's ok honey- Lorelai walked towards her.- You're welcome here, we are going to give you everything we couldn't give you when you were younger. Count on us, I've been there, done that. I know how it feels. Just promise me something
¿What?
- Don't give that baby up for adoption; you would regret it for the rest of your life.
- Ok, I promise- A weeping Rory answered, and buried herself into her mother's arms.
I changed it a lot… I was not really happy with the way it was going anyway… I'm sorry if you liked the original, but I feel that this one is better.
Uff! That was hard! But I updated at last! I just didn't know how to continue, and I was so stressed about all this application to college process. We have a test that counts just for 80 of your eligibility, no pressure.
But now I'm happy, 'cause I'm in a very good college and looking forward to start classes next March. Here, in my country (Chile), we start the school year in March and finish it on December. I hope you all liked it and leave a lot of reviews! As a graduation gift at least!
Thank you for the reviews… I really liked them
