Chapter 3–The attack

The next morning, the Takenouchi's and their guards were ready to leave. Queen Kamiya and Prince Taichi were standing by the castle gates, saying their goodbyes. Queen Kamiya was clearly upset, since she was crying. Taichi and Sora were upset too, but they didn't want to show it.
"We tried Queen Kamiya. No one can say we didn't try, "said King Takenouchi, "Say goodbye Sora."
"Goodbye." Said Sora
"Goodbye?"
"Prince Taichi."
Taichi looked up. Sora sounded so heart broken as she said that. He kicked himself mentally.
'What have I done? She asked me a simple question and all I say is "what else is there?" Great work Taichi. You've just lost the girl of your dreams.' Queen Kamiya elbowed Taichi in the side, urging him to say something. Anything.
"Goodbye princess."
But not that!
Sora looked up as her horse started to walk away. 'Taichi sounded hurt when he said goodbye? Could it be that he actually does care for me? No, he doesn't, and he proved that last night.' As Sora followed her father who was on his horse, she felt a tear fall down her cheek.
Taichi watched as Sora, her father and their guards rode off down the road. He felt a tear falling down his cheek. Queen Kamiya slowly started to walk inside the castle.
"All these years of planning, wasted!" she shouted

Later that day, the skies became dark as a storm came in. Taichi was in the study, playing chess match with his friend Joe, and talking to the conductor of the royal orchestra, and a friend to the Kamiya's, Izzy Izumi. (a/n: izzy is a few years older than Taichi and joe is a year older than Taichi ^_^)
"What else is there? She says 'is beauty all that matters to you', and you say 'what else is there?" asked an annoyed Izzy.
"It was dumb I know!" answered Taichi.
"You should write a book. 'How to offend women in 5 syllables or less'" mocked Izzy.
Joe had just made his move on the chessboard. "You're move Prince Taichi," he said. Taichi thought for a minute, then made his move. He then returned talking to Izzy.
"I didn't know what else to say!"
Joe made another move on the chessboard and took one of Taichi's pieces. "You lost your queen Taichi!"
"That's twice in one day!" said Taichi as he sat down in a chair. He held his head in his hands trying to work out a solution to his problem.
"Think! You must see something other than Sora's beauty!" said Joe.
"Of course I do Joe! She's like ... you know ... how about ... and then ... you know."
Joe and Izzy just stared at Taichi (a/n: like this -_-). He wasn't making a lot of sense!
"I don't know how to say it!" said Taichi, "I know, I'll prove it to her! I'll prove my love for Sora! Check mate!"
Taichi moved his chess piece and won the game. Joe couldn't believe it! Taichi never won a chess game against him. And Izzy couldn't believe that Taichi had come up with a plan to get Sora back. He had surprised everyone!

Sora and her father were now riding in a carriage down a dusty road in the middle of a forest. Their guards were making sure that they stayed extra close to the royal family, since they could sense danger in the air as the storm was starting to settle in.
Sora and King Takenouchi hadn't said anything since they got into that carriage, but King Takenouchi soon broke the silence.
"I just don't understand. What else did you want him to say?" he asked his daughter.
"I need to know that he loves me, for just being me," answered Sora.
But before the conversation went on any further, the carriage suddenly stopped. The King and Sora could hear voices outside and the horses sounded frightened. King Takenouchi stepped outside the carriage to see what was wrong.
There, on the hill just in front of them, was Yamato, and he didn't looked too happy. King Takenouchi gasped. Yamato had been banished years ago. What was he doing here?
Sora was about to step outside the carriage, when her father warned her to stay inside.
Suddenly, a blue glow appeared around Yamato's hands. He waved them in the air and mumbled something, as if casting a spell. Then, a huge blue explosion covered Yamato so you couldn't see him. The guards and the King covered their eyes. Inside the carriage, Sora was starting to panic. She knew something was wrong. 'Taichi, I really wish you were here right now.'
The smoke soon cleared away, and where Yamato was standing, there was now a horrible monster, with evil red eyes. It was Weregarurumon. He jumped in the air and started attacking.

Joe and Taichi were playing another chess match, and Izzy was watching, when suddenly, the door burst open. Taichi looked up to see an injured solider fall to the ground. Taichi ran over to him and held his head. As Izzy and Joe gathered around him, Taichi suddenly realised who the solider was.
"It's King Takenouchi's captain!"
"We ... we were ... attacked ... a great animal!" said the weak solider. Taichi was confused, a great animal. Suddenly, Taichi remembered who else that was with King Takenouchi.
"SORA!"
Taichi stood up and ran out of the study into the courtyard. The storm was now at it's worst. The rain was pouring down and there was thunder and lightening. As Taichi rode off on his horse, Joe and Izzy shouted at him to come back, but he was too far away to hear them.
Taichi rushed down the road Sora and her father rode down every summer when they came to Taichi's castle. As his horse rode closer and closer to Sora's carriage, thoughts about Sora were rushing through Taichi's mind. 'This is all my fault! If I hadn't been such an idiot yesterday none of this would've happened! Oh Sora, please be alright!'
Taichi saw a carriage on it's side up ahead. He jumped off his horses and began to search for Sora. He called out her name and searched inside the destroyed carriage, behind the trees and in the bushes. He noticed that there were no horses or any guards to be seen.
Taichi searched in the carriage again, when he noticed something in the mud next to what looked like a burnt tree. It was Sora's necklace, which Taichi had given to her. The one with the picture of a Biyomon on the front. He picked it up and held it in his hand.
"No! Sora, where are you!" He cried
"Taichi!"
Taichi heard a fait voice call his name. He turned around hoping it was Sora, but it was King Takenouchi. He was badly injured and didn't look like he would make it. Taichi ran over to him and held his head in his hands.
"King Takenouchi-"
"Taichi ... I ... I"
"Who did this?"
"It came so quickly. A great animal!"
"Where is Sora?"
"Listen to me Taichi, it's not what it seems. It's not what it seems!"
"What's not? Where is Sora?"
"Sora ... is ... Sora is ... gone"
King Takenouchi said his last words and breathed his last breath (a/n: sorry if it doesn't make sense!). Taichi slowly placed him on the ground and stood up. Tears were now rolling down his cheeks, mixing with the raindrops. He tightened his grip on the necklace in his hand.
"No, no it can't be true. Sora you can't be gone."
Taichi clenched his fists, trying to hold back the tears, but he couldn't. Losing Sora was the worst thing that has ever happened to him. He had lost his father as a young boy, and now he had lost Sora.
"SORA!"
Taichi fell onto his knees and cried. Sora was gone, and he didn't know what to do.
"Sora, I love you!"

Is Sora really gone? Will Taichi be able to find her if she's still alive? And what about Yamato? How did he come back?
