The Biyomon Princess

Chapter 5–Catch and Fire

----

It was a beautiful summer's day in the Kamiya Kingdom. The sun's rays shone onto the peaceful towns and the Kamiya's magnificent castle. Everyone was happy, except for Prince Taichi.

He had searched everywhere for Sora but still hadn't found her. And he was no where near solving the mystery of 'the great animal.' Taichi knew that when he did find 'the great animal', he had to fight it. That's why he asked Izzy and Joe to help him. He needed some target practise, but with a difference.

Izzy, Joe and Taichi were in the royal gardens, getting ready for the practise. Izzy was pouring some orange powder into Taichi's arrow bag. He had already put blue powder in Joe's. As Izzy tried to get all the powder out of the bucket, Taichi put on an orange blindfold, and Joe put on a blue one, but he kept on peeking underneath!

"The musicians are not happy," stated Izzy, trying to get the last of the powder out.

"I know, but I have to practise," said Taichi.

Izzy held up the bucket to his face and looked into it. He started banging the end of it with his hand.

"Oh no problems here," he said sarcastically, "I think it's going be loads of-"

Uh oh! Izzy was hitting the bucket so hard, the orange powder had come out and his face was now bright orange! (I hope you know what I mean!)

"-fun!" he said, finishing his sentence. He put the bucket down, pulled a handkerchief out of his pocket and cleared his face of orange powder.

"The great animal's never gonna give her up without a fight," said Taichi

"You're not still thinking she's alive?" asked Izzy

"When I find the great animal Izzy, I'll find Sora."

"Oh Taichi," sighed Izzy, "You've looked everywhere. She's not coming back. The whole kingdom knows that!"

"The whole Kingdoms wrong! Sora's alive, and I'm gonna find her. Ready Joe?"

Izzy turned to Joe and saw him peeping from underneath his blindfold.

"No peeping!" He said, annoyed. Then he turned to the bandstand in the middle of the garden and called out to the musicians.

"Animals, assemble!"

All the musicians stepped out of the bandstand dressed as animals! There were lions, elephants, bears, rabbits etc, and all the animals had numbers on them, representing points. One man dressed as a boar stepped forward from the group.

"Lord Izzy I must abject! We are musicians!" He cried out in a posh accent.

"The servants have the day off, we had to use someone," called Izzy

"But, I'm an artist, not a boar!"

"You could've fooled me!" Izzy said to himself

"Come in guys," said Taichi, "They're harmless!" He pulled out one of the arrows in his bag and showed it to the 'animals'. Instead of an arrowhead at one end of the arrow, there was a piece of cloth with padding underneath. Taichi's arrow had orange powder on the bottom, and Joe's had blue. Even though the animals knew that the arrows were safe, they were still not happy about being the targets!

"We are a band, and not a band of animals!"

"This masquerade is more than I can bear!"

"There goes my reputation!"

The 'animals' slowly formed into a line, waiting for their orders. They didn't look very happy!

"Down on all fours please and growl ferociously," ordered Izzy, "Liven it up a bit! I want you to strike fear into my heart!"

One short man, dressed as a white rabbit, decided to play a joke. He filled his lungs up with air and growled just like a lion. Izzy wasn't at all impression. In fact, he was rather annoyed!

"Not you Wesley, you're a rabbit for heaven's sake!" He sighed and turned back to Taichi and Joe. He was holding a piece of string, which was attached to the two blindfolds.

"Archer's, ready..."

Taichi picked up a padded arrow and got ready to shot. Joe how ever, found it a little bit difficult to find an arrow with a blindfold on. The 'animals' knew what was coming and ran away.

"...set...GO!"

Izzy pulled the string, which pulled off the two blindfolds. Joe was a little bit stunned and was blinded by the sunlight. Taichi however, started shooting straight away! He aimed arrow after arrow at the 'animals' and hit them every time!

Once Joe was used to the sunlight, he tried to shoot his arrows, but he kept missing. He then saw the small man dressed as the white rabbit. He noticed that Taichi hadn't hit this 'target' yet, so he grabbed his chance. Unfortunately, he missed every time. The 'rabbit' ran away, so Joe decided to run after it to try and hit it!

----

On a balcony, which looked onto the royal garden where Taichi was practising, Queen Kamiya was watching her son hitting all the 'targets'. She sighed and drank some tea, whilst watching her son.

"Day after day all Taichi ever does is practise practise practise, thinking of 'her' and the way that it was."

----

Joe was still chasing the 'rabbit' and hadn't managed to hit a single target yet! But Taichi had hit all the targets (apart from the 'rabbit') more than once! Izzy was watching them whilst holding up an hourglass.

"12 seconds!" he called out.

Time was running out and Joe still hadn't managed to hit a target. He was still after the 'rabbit'. He had chased him all around the garden but had missed every time he shot an arrow.

"5 seconds!"

Taichi turned around to see the 'rabbit'. A smile crept up onto his face.

"4"

The 'rabbit' saw Taichi and ran in the other direction.

"3"

Taichi shots an arrow at the 'rabbit'.

"2"

The 'rabbit' ducks behind a bush, the arrow flew into the bush.

"TIME!" called Izzy, "Animals, assembly for counting!"

All the 'animals' gathered around, they looked exhausted! They were covered with orange powder, from head to toe. But the 'rabbit' didn't seem to have been hit. One man dressed as a duck fell to the ground, tired. He had the number 5 pinned to him.

"You scored plenty of 5 pointers that's for sure!" said Izzy walking past the 'duck'. Taichi walked over to him and kneeled down.

"Sorry Nick," he said, "Why don't you take a few days off!"

Izzy walked over to a man dressed as a moose. He had the number 2 pinned to him.

"Moose is worth 2 points. 16 hits gives a total of 32..."

As Izzy continued to add up Taichi's score, Joe crept up behind the 'rabbit'. He was holding one of his blue arrows in his hands. When no one was looking, he hit the 'rabbit' 3 times, without anyone knowing! Meanwhile, Izzy had finished adding up Taichi's score.

"...a grand total of 298! Well done Taichi! Now, Joe."

Izzy looked around and saw that none of the 'animals' had a blue hit on them. Izzy grinned, He knew Joe could never hit a target. He wasn't as good as Taichi. Izzy decided to try and rub it in that Joe wasn't good at shooting!

"Lets see, erm 0 and 0 and nil and zip!"

Joe knew that Izzy was trying to make him feel bad, but it wasn't working. He had a small smirk plastered on his face. Izzy walked over to where the 'rabbit' was standing.

"And last but not least, the illusive, 100 point, white rabbit!"

Izzy was shocked to see that the 'rabbit' had 3 blue hit on it. He couldn't believe that Joe had actually hit a target!

"I believe that's 300 Izzy!" said a very pleased Joe.

"Nice shooting Joe!" said Taichi.

"Well, write it down Izzy! 300 to 298!"

"Oh but er... wait just a moment." Taichi turned to face the 'rabbit' and indicated him to turn around. The 'rabbit' followed orders from his Prince and did a 180 degree turn. Taichi lifted up the 'rabbits' small, fluffy tail to reveal an orange hit on the 100 point rabbit. Taichi had won the game, 398 to 300. Joe just laughed and walked over to Taichi.

"You're a great marksman Taichi, one of the best!" he said, "But it takes more than good aim. It takes courage, that's my motto."

Just as Joe said this, he got an idea. He walked over to the two friends and faced Joe.

"Well then, how about a round of Catch and Fire?" He asked Joe, smiling.

"c...c...c...c...c...c...catch and fore? You mean me?" asked a very scared Joe.

"You're the one with enough c... c...c...c...c...c...courage!" said Izzy, mocking Joe!

----

Later on, somewhere in the royal garden, Joe had been dressed in some armour to protect him. He also had an apple tied to his head.

"Are you sure you're all right?" asked Izzy

"Oh yeah, I'm fine!" answered Joe, sarcastically

"Ready!" called Taichi, who was standing about 40 metres away from Izzy and Joe. He had a shield attached to his back and held his bow in his hand. Joe tried to answer back, but he just stammered.

"R...r...r...r...r...r...r...r"

"He's ready!" called Izzy, knowing that Joe was too scared to answer. Taichi turned around so his back was facing them.

"Remember now, "Izzy said to Joe, "Aim for the heat. Right between the shoulders!" He walked to the side to watch if his idea would work. He loved scaring Joe. (sorry if I made Izzy sound mean!)

Joe loaded his arrow and tried to aim it at Taichi, but he was shaking too much from fear, so he couldn't aim properly.

"Come on Joe, hold steady," said Taichi, sensing Joe's fear. He was getting reading to turn around.

Joe was still trying to aim the arrow. He kept muttering to himself saying things like, "oh please oh please!" Then, he let go of the arrow.

"NO!" he shouted as the arrow came closer and closer to Taichi It was about to hit him, when he suddenly turned around and caught it. Then, in a blink of an eye, he aimed the arrow back at Joe.

It came closer and closer, speeding through the air. Joe thought it was going to hit him, but instead, the arrow went straight into the apple on top of his head, splitting it in half. Izzy managed to catch one of the halves in his hand.

"52 out of 52! Well done Taichi!" he called to Taichi. He walked over to Joe, who was checking to see if he was hurt.

"Extraordinary courage man, "he said to Joe, "just think, 1 inch lower, and that arrow would have-"but he didn't get to finish his sentence, because Joe fainted. Izzy gave a small laugh.

Taichi saw what happened and smiled, the first time since he danced with Sora at the ball on the first night of summer! He looked up at the blue sky. It reminded him so much of Sora. Slowly the smile faded away.

"Don't lose hope Sora," he said, "Where ever you are, I'm gonna find you!"

----

Will Taichi be able to find Sora? Will Joe ever stop fainting! Find out in the next chapter!

----

OK, I'll admit it, that was a bit boring wasn't it.

I'll probably put 1 or 2 chapters up this week, but after that I might not get a chance because next week, I have lots of exams, sports matches, concerts, and my birthday! I'm also going on holiday in Easter for a while so I'm very busy!

Wish me luck!
