Chapter 14: Princesses on Parade

The Grand Hall was now completely packed. Every Princess from every corner of the world had now arrived. Prince Taichi and Queen Kamiya were standing at the front of the hall, with TK and Izzy by their sides. Taichi looked around the room for Sora, but he couldn't see her anywhere.

"Welcome, dear Princesses," began the Queen, "to our Kingdom. Now that I see that you have all arrived, it is time to begin the ball!"

TK and Izzy immediately straightened up so that they looked important. Izzy turned around to face the royal band, and soon the music was playing. TK rolled out a large piece of parchment, and began to read the names on the list.

"This Princess comes from Corn Chester where corn and cotton grow," said TK as a young Princess with blonde hair, dressed in a white gown with green and yellow trimming stepped forward, "she plays crochet and the harpsichord (and old piano like instrument-tg23) and sews her own clothes…"

The young Princess curtsied in front of the Prince, and Taichi bowed to her. Then he kissed her on the hand, before she made her way back into the crowd.

"…Antonia isn't know to take the path of least resistance," TK continued, "She comes from the south east and came the furthest distance…"

A youthful and energetic princess stepped forward and curtsied in front of Taichi. Taichi bowed back, then kissed her hand before she too went back into the crowd. As each princess was called up, Taichi's heart began to sink.

'She's not coming,' he thought as the last princess was called up, 'but why? Why hasn't she turned up? Has something happened to her?'

As the last princess made her way back into the crowd, the music stopped. TK came to stand in front of the Queen and the Prince. He was about to say something to the large crowd, when there was a knock at the door. Everyone turned around to face the main entrance door. The Queen began to panic.

"TK," she said, "all that were invited are present, are they not?"

"Yes, yes they are your majesty," said TK as he checked his list. There was another knock at the door.

"Well then," continued the Queen coolly, "go and open the door."

"Yes your highness."

TK bowed to the Queen and Prince then made his way up the stairs, aware of everyone watching him. He soon reached the top of the staircase where the door was. Slowly, he opened it to see who was there. There was a loud gasp from the whole hall, as they saw who the guest was. Taichi looked up, and his heart missed a beat, as the extra guest started to make her way down the stairs, TK closing the door behind him, not taking his eyes off the guest.

She was wearing a long black gown with blood red trimming. It showed off her feminine figure, and just hid her beautiful black shoes. Her auburn hair was hanging loosely by her face, just brushing the tops of her shoulders. She was holding something in her hand. A gold necklace.

As she reached the bottom of the stairs and made her way towards Taichi, the Queen crept to Izzy's side to ask some questions.

"Izzy," she whispered, "who is it? Do you know her?"

"No, I don't," answered Izzy

"Are you sure?"

"Of course I am your highness."

"Come now Izzy! I know it confides in you!" said the Queen, becoming angry

"Honestly I've never seen her before! Although, she does look a great deal like…"

"But…but it couldn't be…could it?"

The girl had now stopped at Taichi, who was beaming. She looked up into his eyes, and he looked down into hers. He noticed something different about her, but she shook the thought off thinking that it was not important.

"I was worried! I thought you weren't coming," he said

"Nothing could keep me away," said Sora

Taichi clicked his fingers, and the band began to play. Taichi held up Sora's hand with his, and placed his other hand around her waist. Sora placed her spare hand on Taichi's shoulder. They began to dance.

Is this really Sora? How did she escape? Find out in the next chapter!
