The Biyomon Princess
Chapter 17- The Great Animal
-----------
Everyone cheered and applauded. At long last, Taichi and Sora were to be wed, and the two kingdoms would be united as one. Taichi, after all his searching, had found his one true love, Sora. Finally, they could live a peaceful and happy life. But their celebrations were short lived.
As Izzy was about to get the band to start playing, the candles that lit the room suddenly went out causing the hall to be covered in darkness. If it wasn't for the full moon, the hall would've been in complete darkness. There was a murmur of excitement and fear. The servants quickly ran to the kitchen, to get something that would relight the candles. But before they could re-light the candles, the locked windows suddenly blew open, causing a great gust of wind to enter the room. Everyone screamed. 'Sora' grabbed hold of Taichi, and in return, Taichi held 'Sora' to protect her. Then, all of a sudden, the doors flew open, and the wind stopped. Everyone went quiet.
Taichi looked up at the door. He could see a dark figure entering the hall. As he walked into the moonlight that poured into the room, Taichi felt the room turn cold. The man in front of him had messy blond hair, and dangerously blue eyes. He was wearing the strangest clothes Taichi had ever seen. He looked like he'd been living in the forest for the last few years. Taichi didn't trust him. He let go of 'Sora' and indicated for her to stay there, then he slowly walked up to the man.
"Who are you?" he demanded
"So you've pledged your love to another, have you?" said the man sarcastically
"What are you talking about? This is Sora!" said Taichi.
"No," said the man, "Sora is mine!"
Taichi then realised who this man was, and why he was here. He placed his hand on his hilt, ready to draw his sword.
"It's you! You're the one who kidnapped Sora!"
"Yes, that's me. I'm surprised you don't remember be Taichi. Maybe my name, Yamato, will ring a few bells?"
Taichi heard someone gasp as this man said his name. He looked out of the corner of his eye and saw his mother had gone ghostly white. Who was this man, and why did his mother know who he was?
"Leave now! You have no power here! I made a vow; a vow of everlasting love!"
"Oh you made a vow alright," said Yamato mockingly, "a vow of everlasting death!"
Yamato raised his hands and started to chant a spell. Taichi had no idea what he was doing, but he wasn't going to let him escape with Sora again. Then, before Taichi could do anything to stop him, blue rays shot out of Yamato's hands, and hit 'Sora'. She screamed and fell to the ground.
"No!"
Yamato watched (with a smirk on his face) as Taichi ran to Sora. He was about to pick her up, when she slowly started to get up herself. As she tried to get on her feet, Taichi felt that something was wrong.
As 'Sora' managed to get onto her feet and faced Taichi, his eyes widened. She was transforming. Her red hair grew past her shoulders, and turned brown. Her eyes changed too, as well her dress. She was no longer dressed a beautiful black gown, but in an old ragged dress. Once the transformation was completed, she looked up at Taichi. He could see tears falling down her cheeks.
"I'm so sorry Prince Taichi," she said
"Who are you?" asked Taichi
"My name is Mimi, and all my life I've had to be a slave to Yamato. I'm so sorry."
Mimi began to sob. She covered her face with her hands and turned away from Taichi. Taichi felt a fool. He had been trick by one of Yamato's spells. That meant that he had made the vow to the wrong girl! But if that was the case, where was the real Sora? And what would happen to her now?
"You should have left her to me," said Yamato, pointing out the window, "Now, Sora will die!"
Taichi looked out the window where Yamato was pointing, and saw something flying away. It looked like a small pink bird, and by the way it was flying, it looked pretty weak. Then Taichi realised who it was.
"Sora!"
-----------
Biyomon flew as best she could. She had to get back to the lake. That was the only solution to her problem. It was the only way to turn back into a human again, and be Princess Sora. But her strength was leaving her. Something had happened to her when Taichi made the vow to the wrong girl. She had felt a great pain in her heart, too painful for a broken heart. She knew that it was Yamato's doing. When he had cast the spell, he had said that if her true love made a vowel to someone else, she would die. She had to get back to the lake, she just had to! That's when she saw the castle on the horizon.
-----------
Taichi was racing after Sora. He had grabbed his horse and rushed out of the castle, and was riding through the forest where he had seen Biyomon. All round him he could hear Yamato's voice.
"She's fading fast little prince!" said Yamato
"No! Sora will live!"
-----------
Biyomon flew as best she could, but she knew she was getting weaker and slower. But the castle was so close, she had to make it!
-----------
Taichi was getting nearer and nearer to the castle. He could just see Biyomon flying over the trees in front of him, but Taichi couldn't go any further. His horse had stopped since the forest was too dense. Taichi jumped off his horse and drew out his sword. He began to cut his way through. Yamato's evil laugh was ringing through the forest.
"If you hurry little prince, I'll let you see her one last time!" said Yamato's evil voice.
-----------
Meanwhile, in the dungeon, Joe was still hanging on to the chain on the wall. He had decided what he should do. He knew that his best friend Taichi was in trouble, and he had to help him, even if he was a coward. So, after taking a big breath, he dived underwater, and found the hole Biyomon had escaped through.
-----------
Frogmon, Hawkmon and Gomamon were waiting by the lake. They could hear Yamato's evil laugh and knew that something must have gone wrong. They were desperately keeping an eye out for Biyomon. Gomamon looked up to the moon and saw a silhouette in front of it. As he looked closer, he saw that it was a bird type digimon.
"Look guys, there she is!" he shouted to the others. The two other digimon looked up and saw their friend. But they didn't smile and cheer. They watched the weakened Biyomon flying towards the lake, stumbling here and there.
As she came lower and lower, she tried to land on the water. But she was so weak; she missed the water of the lake, and disappeared behind a bush. The three digimon ran to the bush and looked behind. They saw Biyomon, unconscious on the ground. Then, a soft glow appeared around her, and she changed back into Princess Sora.
-----------
Taichi ran through the trees. He could see the lake through them. 'Please don't let me be late! Please let her live!'
Taichi reached the lake, but he didn't see Biyomon or Sora anywhere. Then he noticed a group of three digimon behind a bush. The digimon looked familiar, especially the bird type one, Hawkmon. He slowly walked to where the digimon were gathered, his heart beating fast. As he reached the bush, he saw what they were looking at, and rushed forward.
He ran to the unconscious Sora and held her in his arms. Her breathing was slow, and she already felt cold. Taichi felt the tears forming in his eyes. He rested her head on his shoulders.
"What have I done to you? Forgive me Sora, please forgive me!"
As a tear fell down Taichi's cheek, he felt something move. He looked down at Sora and saw her eyes half open. She smiled weakly at Taichi.
"Taichi?" she said in a whisper
"Yes Sora, I'm here."
"Taichi, I feel so weak. I think…I'm…"
"No! You'll live Sora. The vow I made was for you."
"I know, Taichi, I know."
Slowly, Sora lifted her hand up and placed it on Taichi's cheek. A tear landed on her hand. But as the last of her strength left her, her hand slipped away.
"I love you Taichi."
Sora's eyes closed, and her body became limp. Taichi couldn't hear her breath, and her skin was cold and pale. Taichi called out to her, but she did not wake. Slowly, he placed her body on the ground, and let his tears fall down his cheeks.
The digimon at the side had seen what had happened, and they too began to cry.
Soon, Taichi stopped crying, and his grief turned into anger. He called out to Yamato, for he knew that he was close, and he was watching them.
"I made the vow for her, Yamato. Do your hear me? THE VOW I MADE WAS FOR HER!"
"No need to shout," said a voice mockingly, form behind Taichi.
Taichi turned around, and saw a very smug looking Yamato leaning on a tree. Taichi's anger turned into rage. He stood up and marched up to Yamato.
"Don't let her die!"
"Is that a threat?"
Taichi grabbed hold of Yamato by his cloths and began to shake him.
"Don't you dare let her die!"
"Oh, it is a threat," said Yamato sarcastically.
"You're the only one with the power, now do it!"
Yamato grabbed hold of Taichi, and pushed him back. Now Taichi had done it. He had done the worst thing possible. He had made Yamato angry.
"I'll save her, but only if you can defeat…me!"
Yamato's eyes went blank, and blue flames covered his bare hands, but he did not feel the burns. He chanted a spell under his breath. Then, he threw the blue flames onto the ground by his feet. The flames rose quickly and covered his body, hiding him from Taichi. Then Taichi heard a bloody curtailing scream. A scream that did not sound human. As the flames died away, Taichi saw that Yamato was no longer standing in front of him. Instead, a large, werewolf type digimon was there, his claws ready to attack, and his teeth ready to bite into his flesh. Taichi took a step back from the monster. All the time he spent in the library, researching who or what he thought had kidnapped Sora, he had never once seen a picture of the monster. But now, Taichi was face to face with it.
"The Great Animal, Weregarurumon!"
