Chapter 1... It All Began…
….One year in the past…….
"LYDDIE MARIE GET YOUR LATE BEHIND OVER HERE NOW!!" sigh In trouble.. Again! This was not good. Why was I always being late recently! If I was late one more time, I swear that my mom was gonna kill me. It's not my fault that I had to chase away these kids from torturing the animals. What's gotten into them, I may never know. "LYDDIE!!!!" "I'M COMING!"
"You're in SO much trouble!" My sister just had to rub it in. The oldest and the favorite. It just wasn't fair!! "Oh shut-up! You just have to rub it in…" My sister smirked at this. That was Ella for you. Older and wiser, for she never seemed to be in trouble. Don't get me wrong.. I'm not a bad kid, but I just can't seem to be doing anything right lately. "Don't worry little sister, I'll take care of you while your grounded." 'Thanks for the encouragement,' I thought to myself as hurried to go find my mother.
"Why are you always late!" my mom was, needless to say, not in a very good mood. "I'm sorry mom, but you don't understand! These kids were throwing rocks at these cats and I was just trying to help and… I'm really late aren't I?" My mom just sighed at this. "Lyddie," she began to say the worst words I could ever imagine, "It's fair time you start learning to be on time. I think that going to your aunt's will do you some good!" "NNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I screamed! My aunt was crazy… she let her guests sleep out in a barn and lets her cats sleep in the guest rooms. But I knew I couldn't argue my way out of this on by looking at the expression on my mom's face. So, I would set of on an outrageous journey to the coast where my aunt lived, one that would challenge me to my greatest limits and push me beyond my wildest dreams. This was no 'Vacation.' This was a test of the very things that made me… Me……
