Chapter #5: Conspiracy
*~*~*Inside the Puzzle--Yami Bakura's POV*~*~*
"So, you have finally agreed?" Yami Marik smirked.
I didn't know what was going on in his sick, twisted mind....nor did I care. If I pretend to 'go along with this' maybe I can still acquire what I want, without this idiot giving me a thousand migraines. Why did I even bother trying to communicate with him?! "I guess I have no choice."
"Good."
"Well now, what is this 'plan'--that is so much better than mine--which you have in mind?" I ask, with sarcasm.
"Your plan with just finding the Pharaoh and killing him in his very mind is futile. There are an equal amount of stones as there are doors and millions of possible hiding spots where he could be hiding." Yami Marik started, his face getting more serious.
"Yes. Your point?" I ask bitterly. It was one thing for him to make me succumb to his powers.....it was another for him to ridicule my plan.
"My point is that your plan would have never worked. It would be difficult to locate the Pharaoh in his mind chamber let alone kill him." Yami Marik explained. "But why kill the Pharaoh when you can trap him."
"What's the difference?" I ask.
"So many questions....." Yami Marik said, laughing and shaking his head. "My plan is to use the Pharaoh's unknown memories against him."
He has been talking about this before; however, I was not paying close attention. "Yes. I know that part. My plan was to make him get lost in a memory then kill him while he's in there--for you information....don't ridicule my plan when you don't know the whole thing you idiot."
"Oh, I'm so sorry about that."
"Shut-up and get on with it." I grumble. He was practically just regurgitating my plan; getting the Pharaoh lost, then killing him. What the hell is wrong with him?
"When we trap the Pharaoh," he continued, "We lock him in there, so he can't fend for himself."
The bastard. He copied my ideas! "That was my plan almost exactly!"
"Where do you think it came from?"
"What the hell are you talking about?"
"Yami Bakura, so naïve....You honestly think that those little voices in your head were YOUR thoughts?" Yami Marik explained. "Fool. Can you guess where they came from?"
"Don't tell me. I like the element of surprise." I mutter. "You."
Nodding, he continued. "I was giving you little hints by talking into your head....You must of thought it was your actual thoughts."
"Shut up." I threaten
"I'm shaking."
Suddenly, I began to smile. "What will be so different if I carry out the plan? Don't you trust me?"
"No."
"I fail to see the point in this. There is still no difference between either of the plans. Both of them were to trap the Pharaoh in his mind, then kill him.....see? No difference." I explained, walking closer to him.
"The major difference is that not only will we be using the Pharaoh's memories to get him lost...." He said with a smirk, "....we'll use our own as well....."
*~*~*On the Road--Elaya's POV*~*~*
"Ha ha! Very funny Mai! I loved how you tricked me like that...." Joey mumbled from the back seat. After trying to unlock half of the blue cars in the parking lot, and one car alarm later, Mai finally gave up the gag, grabbed the keys from a flustered Joey and went to the parking meter across the street.
"I know. Wasn't it great?" Mai asked in a sweet voice.
"Joey, man, you got showed." Tristan muttered.
"Shut-up"
"No, you."
"No you--"
"Why don't you both shut-up?! I have a headache here!" I cry as I lie down further into the passenger's seat.
"Sorry." They both say, softly. But I can still hear them shoving one another. Jesus....Idiots will be idiots as they always say.
"Guys, come on, stop." Mai calls from the seat beside me. Joey and Tristan continued to punch and shove one another. "NOW!"
Still, they weren't stopping. "Mai, stop the car for a second." I said. She did, so I opened my door, and did the same to theirs. "Tristan, go into the front seat. I'm switching places with you."
"No way am I sitting next to a pissed off Mai!" He cried.
"Yes way." I grabbed the collar of his jacket and pulled him out of the back seat. He stumbled into the front seat. "Hey there Joey!" I say as brightly as my stuffed nose and sore throat could allow. "For being an idiot you get to sit beside a virus for the way home. Okay?"
"Aw...man..."
"Is it my fault that you and Tristan act like children on sugar highs? Or on crack?"
"Hey, I don't do that stuff!"
"Sure you don't." I mutter, rolling my eyes.
"Really I don't!" Moving as far as he could away from the virus--i.e. me-- he leaned back into the seat. "So, how's life been treating ya?"
Doing the same, I responded, "Okay I guess.....You?"
"Could be better."
"How was school for you?"
"Crap. You wouldn't believe all the losers from High School I spotted on our campus.....Greg was there."
Okay, now, I felt like I was going to puke. "Ew....Greg? In college?"
"Yup. He's a real ass-kisser." Tristan said, joining our conversation from the front.
"Yeah, I had to rough him up a bit to keep him quiet..." Joey said proudly, showing off his 'muscles'.
"My hero." Mai said, rolling her eyes.
Laughing, and coughing, I shut my eyes; to only be reawakened by a gentle nudge on my shoulder. "E?"
"Mmph?" I asked, opening one eye to see Joey leaning over me.
Smirking, he asked, "How's Kaiba?"
Now, wide awake and wide eyed, I sat up. "None of your business!"
"Come on, you're saying that in one year you two haven't done.....anything?"
"PERVERT!" I raised my hand to slap him, but the car jerked forward--making Joey, who wasn't wearing a seatbelt, crash forward into Mai's head rest.
"GAH!"
"We're here!" Mai cried, ginning.
*~*~*The Kaiba Mansion--Seto's POV*~*~*
And....done! Finally. Another stupid letter finished. God......I hate writing these things....
"Big Brother?" My office door opened slightly and the shadow of my brother spilled into the room. "Whatcha doing?"
He walked in and put both arms on my desk. Mokuba had grown taller now, but his hair was still the same length: long and black. He was wearing a simple green T-shirt with black pants. He also wore a big smile.
"Nothing. Is there something you want to ask me?"
"Elaya called." He said, still smiling.
"Yes. And?"
"She asked if you told me anything.....When I asked her what that 'anything' was, she laughed and changed the subject.......What is this 'anything' Seto?"
"Hm...." I was really trying to avoid this conversation with my brother all day. I have mentioned it once....and I know that he wouldn't object to a trip to Egypt......but the meaning behind it, for that ritual thing, unsettled me. "I don't know if I should tell you..." That's it....prolong the agony...
"Oh come on! If you're delaying that means this news gots to be big! What is it Seto?!" Mokuba asked, jumping up and down with the support of my desk.
Smiling, I sigh and simply state. "Elaya and the others are going on a trip to Egypt. She invited me to come. And they have an extra ticket."
My little brother's eyes lit up and were as round as saucers. "REALLY?! A trip to Egypt?! That's totally cool! Wow! I've never been there before! When are we going?!"
"Sometime this week I presume."
"Whoa! I gotta get packing! Did you pack yet Seto?!"
Shaking my head I mutter, "I have no time as of yet to pack. I'll get to it later."
"Well, I'm gonna go get started, okay?! Come on! We'll pack now and get it over with! Come with me big brother! Man, this is so cool! I'm so glad that this was the news!" Jumping up once more, Mokuba headed out the door. "Wow! I'm going to Egypt! This is so cool!" His quick footsteps were the last thing I heard as he raced up the stairs.
Grumbling, I stand up and make my way to my room. I can't believe I agreed to this. I'm going to Egypt to take part in a ritual to bring back the memories of a Pharaoh that I don't even know....well, sort of. All I know is that he is an excellent duellist....and that he 'lives inside' Yugi.......But still.....I do not even believe in that fact that I was part of that Pharaoh's demented past. 'Priest Seth' they called me.....I can't believe Elaya believes in that crap.
Opening my bedroom doors, I look for my suitcase in the closet. Throwing it on the bed, I grab the necessary amount of clothes for a weekend trip. I'm stuck--for a weekend--with Yugi and his gang of friends; especially that stupid mutt, Wheeler......I highly doubt that either the mutt, Tristan or Téa have any significance in the past, but wherever Yugi goes, they are sure to follow.....
Hmph. Hopefully that stupid ritual won't take so long.....so I don't need to worry about Mokuba.....And I hope that nothing goes wrong.....
Like what usually happens...
*~*~*In the Air--Yugi's POV*~*~*
"Excuse me, m'am? Is it okay if I use my cell phone now? Since we are in the air?" I ask politely. I forgot to ask Ishizu something!
"No, I'm sorry sir...." She left without saying another word.
Shoot! What was I supposed to do now?! She said that everyone who had an Item in possession--either from the past or future--had to be there.......Pegasus HAD the Eye, but now Bakura has it! Does Pegasus have to come too since he had the Eye in the first place? Oh man.....he's probably clueless to this whole thing....What am I gonna do now?
\ Can not you notify Ishizu or Pegasus once we are back in Domino Yugi? \ Atem asked.
/ Well, we are leaving for Saturday, and today is Friday......by the time I get home, it'll be around 4-5 o'clock in the afternoon......I'll take about an hour to pack and find stuff.....which leaves me less then two hours before the Domino Museum closes......Oh man..... / I said, shaking my head.
"Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. Our flight to Domino City is right on schedule, so we should be arriving at the airport in less then half an hour.....Hope you had a good flight up until now....That is all." The monotone voice of the captain boomed above us from the intercom.
Wow...in half an hour? So, it's three-thirty now.....so, I'll be home around four o'clock...Oh please let me be able to catch Ishizu at the Museum!
\ I'm sure you will Yugi. \
/ Me too! Man, who knew planning a trip could be so stressful! / I joke through the mind-link.
Atem merely sighed. I could feel his anxiety through our link, and it was kinda depressing.....Poor guy, must be going through a lot.....
Wait....where did he go? I can't feel him......He shut our mind-link really quickly.....What if something's wrong?!
*~*~*Atem's Mind Chamber--Reader's POV*~*~*
The Pharaoh raced up an unknown amount of stone steps. [Something is in here! I know it! But why can't I identify it?]
"Come out! I know you're here!" Atem shouted, stopping on a plateau. Gasping for breath, he paused, looking around. [Darkness....and stones.....that is all I see.....] "Who is there?! I demand you to come out now!" He called out again, to only hear his echo.
Lying just below him, behind a door frame, crouched Yami Bakura and the translucent figure of Yami Marik. Both of their chests were heaving quickly. Yami Marik turned to his 'partner' and gave him the strongest mental slap he could manage. Thinking to himself, he muttered, [THAT IDIOT! We were almost caught!!! If he shut up, the Pharaoh would never have been suspicious!]
Yami Bakura heard this in his head--and felt the sting of the slap--and glared at the purple-eyed spirit. [How dare he call me that.....] Lips closed in a thin line; he stayed silent until he heard the Pharaoh's footsteps pick up again. Slowly standing, the two spirits walked farther into the darkness away from Atem's suspicious eyes.
[There is something in here that I do not want.....] Atem thought. "Where are you?!" He shouted as loud as he could. Climbing more steps, he looked down into his complex and mysterious mind. [All I see are stones and darkness........and millions of hiding places......]
And then, another thought occurred to him. [What if they are searching for me?]
*~*
I TOLD YOU I'D HAVE IT DONE! (Hooray!)
Anyway, for you who are confused with the whole 'plan' with Y.Bakura and Y.Marik....for starters, Y.Marik just wanted to be in control of the whole situation.....so he used his Shadow powers to make Y.Bakura do so.......And can any of you guess how Y.Bakura could hear Y.Marik's private thought about him and their 'almost-found-out' situation? More of that, next chappie!
