Chapter 13: It is time....
*~*~*In the Egyptian Bazaar--Elaya's POV*~*~*
"Thanks." I say to the merchant as he takes my money. Hey! He didn't give me change! "Hey!" I call to him, loudly. However, he pretends to be busy with another customer. "I'm talking to you!"
Giving up after a minute or two--'I-don't-speak-English' my ass--I join up with the others, who have also bought stuff.
"What did ya get E?" Joey asked.
"A T-shirt for my mom." I said. It was one of those standard ones that had the message, 'My daughter went to Egypt and all I got was this crummy T- Shirt'....Hey, I thought it was funny. "You?"
"A bracelet for my sister." Joey takes it out of his pocket and shows me this black, red and white bracelet.
Tristan's eyes open wide. "Tris, what's wrong?"
"Uh, dude....I bought the same one....for Serenity..."
"GAH! YOU DID WHAT?! She's my sis, for crying out loud!" Joey shouts back at him. He must of forgot that Tristan and Serenity have been going out for the past year....Idiot....
"It appears that the mutt's bark is worse than his bite...." A familiar voice said from behind me.
Joey turns around and starts pointing fingers. "Hey! Stay outta this rich- boy!"
"Hey Kaiba." Yugi greets with a smile. Well, I guess he can't be hated by EVERYONE.......
I wave and Téa nods. "Buy anything?" I ask.
"You kiddin' me?" Joey interrupts. "This stuff is probably too low-class for someone of the likes of him!"
Glaring at the blonde, Seto says nothing. Mokuba, however, defends him, saying, "Joey! Keep your mouth shut! He got me a pair of sunglasses and a T- Shirt!"
"Come on guys, don't ruin the vacation!" Téa reasoned.
"Yeah! Can't you all just calm down and smell the sand for a bit?" I ask. Jeeze...Seto and Joey never stop arguing. And I thought that they made up last summer.....
It must have been all the sex jokes....
"Can we go now?" He asks, impatiently. Seto's eyes are locked on Yugi. "Well?"
"Uh...Yeah, sure...Let's just find Professor Hopkins and my Grandpa......." Yugi muttered. "Bakura? Hey, where did he go?"
That's odd....I thought I saw him earlier......
\\ Bakura! \\ A sharp voice repeated the name in my head.
// Justi! What's wrong?! // I ask frantically, but as always, no answer.
"Just hurry up. I wish we could just get this 'ritual' over and done with!" Seto says, walking ahead to where Yugi was currently walking in search of our three missing friends.
"Elaya?" Mokuba asked. "What's this ritual my big brother is talking about?"
Remembering how Seto didn't want to 'poison my little brother's mind' I decided to say, "It's nothing. Don't worry about it.....Come on! We'll fall behind at our turtle rate!" We caught up with the others in no time.....
But every time I turned a corner or passed a dark spot in the marketplace....I felt strange.....
"Grandpa!" Yugi shouted, waving, after we had been walking in the maze of a market for like hours.
"Yugi, my boy! Are you all done?" the elder Motou asked.
We all--with the exception of Seto of course--nodded and waited patiently for the next segment of our trip. Bakura had caught up to us some shops down, saying he got lost. Who could blame him?
"Well now," Professor Hopkins said, "since we are finished our souvenir shopping, shall we be going?"
"Going where old man?" Seto asked coldly. Whoa, someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning....Probably because I was on that side.....
Professor Hopkins seemed unfazed by Seto's rudeness. "Yugi's grandpa and I have planned a tour to go around the pyramids. Sound fun?"
"Cool!" Mokuba exclaimed.
"Is it a walking tour?" Joey asked, wincing.
"No..."
A loud high-five slap was heard. "Yes!"
"What time? Where to?" Yugi asked.
"In one hour. But by the time we get back to the hotel, we'll be right on time!" Arthur said, leading the way.
"So, which pyramids are they?" Téa asked. "Is it just a walking tour or something?"
"Glad you asked Téa. I'll explain it on our walk back." Solomon smiled, raising his index finger in an 'I-know-what-I'm-talking-about' manner. Joey and Tristan groaned loudly as they trudged their feet in the sand.
Pulling on my walkman, 'Here without you' by Three Doors Down, began to play. Such a depressing tune.....On the plus, I don't need to hear anything else!
A tap on my shoulder, almost made me jump. "Gah!"
"Don't worry, it's only me!" Bakura cried.
"Oh, don't scare me like that! Come on, we don't want to fall behind." I mutter, the tunes still playing.
"Oh yeah.....right....."
There was something funny about Bakura......Like he wasn't all there.....
*~*~*In the Bus--Yami Bakura's POV*~*~*
"Okay, let's go!" Elaya cries.
"We have to meet Ishizu and Mari k there too! We can't be late!" Another voice sounds. "Yeah, put the pedal to the metal!" Joey shouts. I'd wish they'd all just shut up. Yami Marik is not answering me......Fool.
[[[ YAMI MARIK!! ]]] I shout as loudly as I could through our open connection. Yugi was barely a foot in front of me, and that bastard still doesn't hear me.
{{ What do you want? }}
[[[ About time. The others are going on a tour in the pyramids......For your information. ]]] I said. Apparently, since he still can't get out of the Puzzle, I have to be his personal news informer.
{{ Good. The Pharaoh is lost. }} He tells me.
[[[ Really? Did he get there all by himself? ]]] I mock.
{{ Silence. Now, listen carefully.....Most likely my light, Marik, and our sister, Ishizu are on their way as well. Once you get Marik alone, use your Shadow powers to get me out of here, understood? }}
[[[ Fine. Whatever. ]]] I mumble back. [[[ You are certain that the Pharaoh is lost? ]]]
{{ Positive. Now, wait this out a bit more Bakura. Once Shadi appears to them.....then we will strike. }} Yami Marik went silent after that, signaling that our conversation was over.
Sitting back in my seat, beside that annoying brat, Mokuba, I smirk. Everything was in order. Yami Marik better keep the Pharaoh lost......that way, he won't know what's going on out here......And when the time comes for the ritual to take place, he'll be in the dark with the many memories that I have stolen......along with his friends.
I think I'll have fun trapping my hikari and the Pharaoh in my memories.....so they can see what I went through......[1].......and little Joey and Elaya can go through their own pasts as well......Hmmm......I can't wait to see what unfolds.....
And while they are inside there, Yami Marik and I will dispose of them.....and take the Items for ourselves!
*~*~*Ishtar's Room--Reader's POV*~*~*
Placing the phone back on the hook, Ishizu calls out to her brother, "Marik.....We need to get going."
"Why?" He asks.
"Yugi and his friends are headed to a tour of the pyramids."
"So?" Marik asks, annoyed. "Why is it so important for us to be there with them?"
"Shadi has already visited Pegasus, so all of us should stay together. If the ritual is going to happen in a matter of less than two days, we should stick together when we can. For Shadi's call can occur at any given time." Ishizu explains calmly. [We must get moving in order to catch up to them...]
"Pegasus knows of this tour?"
Ishizu smiled. "He is the one who is running it."
"You're kidding me." Marik mutters, getting off the bed.
"Actually, in his spare time, Maxamillon shows tourists around the pyramids of Egypt. So, this will be the perfect time to find them." Ishizu informed diligently.
Grumbling, Marik grabbed his beige jacket by the door. "Well, where are they?" [Just when I was getting comfortable.....]
"I shall lead the way." Ishizu said, walking towards the door, not stopping for a jacket. She was wearing her off-white dress with the checked pattern along the sleeves and neck. Opening the door, she led her younger brother out. [Come quickly dear brother....so the evils may not catch you....] She thought solemnly.
*~*~*At the Pyramids--Reader's POV*~*~*
"Brother, stop pacing, they will arrive shortly." Ishizu said, trying to calm her brother down. [It appears that I have misjudged the amount of time it takes for them to get here....]
"Ishizu! You told me that we had to leave quickly, and now, they aren't even here!" Marik shouted angrily. He grumbled something Ishizu did not catch and continued to pace along the cobblestone walkway.
"Mr. and Mrs. Ishtar!" A voice sounded behind them.
Ishizu stood, instantly recognizing him. "Mr. Pegasus." She bowed.
Marik stopped pacing but did nothing. [It's about time SOMEONE came.....]
"So glad of you to stop by!" Maxamillion smiled, clasping his hands in front of his chest. He was wearing a typical archeologist suit; beige T- shirt, a hat and shorts of the same colour.
"Whatever." Marik mumbled, not wanting to put up with such 'happiness'.
"We are waiting for the Pharaoh to arrive.....along with his friends..." Ishizu explained. "In order to complete the ritual, we all need to stick together so no one needed will be lost."
"Pharaoh?....." Pegasus thought aloud. "OH! Yugi-boy! How could I forget! Well now, are you two coming in for the tour as well?"
"I'll have you know, I know all of these pyramids like the back of my hand..." Marik said.
"Marik." Ishizu stated sharply. "That is no way to talk to someone."
[I hate it when she scolds me.....] Marik thought, narrowing his eyes at his sister. "I can talk however I want to whomever I want!"
Pegasus looked up from the bickering siblings to see a white van coming up the road. "I think I see them!"
The two Ishtars turned to see the upcoming vehicle. It slowed to a stop just as the back doors opened again.
"Tris! Move!" A loud voice boomed from the back as a brown spike of hair appeared. Tristan was practically shoved out of the van and landed head first on the walkway. Joey stepped out next, stepping on Tristan.
"HEY! Watch it!"
After helping him up, Joey and Tristan waited for the others to get out of the van. "Thank you for the ride!" Arthur said cheerfully. Paying for it, the whole gang of them walked up the steps to see two familiar people and one whom they wished to forget.
"Pegasus...." Kaiba mumbled, narrowing his eyes. He held Mokuba's hand tighter as his younger brother hid behind him. [What's this guy doing here...?]
Joey too was a bit suspicious of the silver haired man--after all, he stole Solomon's, Mokuba's AND Kaiba's soul. Yugi was too, but he wasn't as surprised as the others.
Yugi's grandpa, however, did not like the idea of having HIM there.....
"Kaiba-boy, Yugi, and Joseph.....what a pleasant surprise!" He said. "Don't worry, I'm not here for any more duels." Smirking, he looked over the group, noticing a new face and the one who stole his Millennium Eye.
Elaya, unlike the others, had no idea who that silver haired man with the eye patch was. [Uh, why is everyone so tensed up? And why is the silver haired dude staring at Bakura for?] She knew that she'd seen this guy before but couldn't pinpoint when.
Looking from person to person to the silver-haired man that Seto called, 'Pegasus', she decided to break the silence by stepping up past the others to the higher platform where the unknown man was standing.
"Hey! Nice to meet you! I'm Elaya!" She put on a happy smile and reached out to shake his hand. "I have no idea who you are...so...."
"Well my dear Elaya, I'm Maxamillion Pegasus and pleased to meet you too." Just as Pegasus was about to shake her hand, Kaiba spoke loudly, "Get your grimy palms away from her if you know what's good for you."
Elaya, somewhat shocked by the whole outburst of protectiveness from Seto, looked back and forth between the two guys. [Wait....so Peggy and Seto are not in each other's good books?]
Seto's gaze was narrowed and was locked on Pegasus. "It appears you haven't changed a bit, Kaiba-boy."
Elaya withdrew her hand quickly and placed it in the pocket of her trench coat. Still somewhat confused, she waited until the rest of the gang-- including Ishizu and Marik--walked up to where she was before asking Yugi exactly who was that guy.
"That's Pegasus...He had the Eye--but Bakura has it now."
"How did he--?"
"--Well, the spirit inside the Ring, which is gone now, took it from him." Yugi interrupted with more facts.
"Oh. Okay...." Elaya paused in mid-thought. "Then, those two must be Ishizu and Marik, right? The Necklace and the Rod?"
Nodding, Yugi continued to walk in step with her, slightly behind the rest. "Why does Seto dislike that Pegasus guy?"
"Uh....I'll tell you later, okay? It's a long story...." He said.
"Okay. Sure." Somewhat disappointed, Elaya pulled Yugi towards the rest of the group that Pegasus was leading.
[Man, I hope Seto doesn't get freaky on this guy and start a street brawl or something.....] She thought, smiling at the mental picture of Kaiba breaking a bottle and crashing it on someone's head.
"Yugi?" Ishizu asked softly.
"Yes Ishizu?" Yugi said, looking at the former possessor of the Necklace.
"Do you have the other Items here with you?"
"No...." He responds. [Oh no! Was I supposed to have them?! Shit!]
"Good."
Surprised, Yugi looks back at her. "Good?" He asks. "What if Shadi comes-- ?"
"He won't. Not now. Maybe later on......From this moment onwards, we all need to be in a group. Shadi will not make two trips nor will he wait." Ishizu said. "When you return to your room, so shall Marik, Pegasus and I. Understood?"
"Uh, yeah, sure." Yugi nodded, not to sure of himself.
/ Hey, Atem, did you hear? Shadi's coming later on! The ritual's gonna start soon! / Yugi smiled into his mind-link. Getting no response, Yugi frowned. / Atem? You there? / [He must be off in his little world or something. Poor guy......he has a big day ahead of him......]
*~*~*Inside the Puzzle--Atem's POV*~*~*
"Yugi!" I cry out, knowing that he won't hear me. Dammit......where am I?!
"A long way from home Pharaoh."
"Yami Marik! Show yourself!" I race towards the voice that I heard at lightning speeds.
"No. Why would I do that?" His voice, sick and twisted, is getting louder. Turning a dark corner to where it is the loudest, I mentally cry a loud, 'Found you!'
But instead, find nothing. "Huh?"
I could of sworn that the voice was coming from here.....
"Fool." The voice says. It was coming from right in front of me! But, how?! "You've fallen right where we want you too."
"We?! Who's your sick partner, Yami Marik?!" I ask 'Yami Marik'--who's voice was in front of me.
Snorting a chuckle, a cold breeze passes me. "Something I have already defeated...."
The last bit of light that came from the corridor behind me is gone.
And I am left in the dark......with Yami Marik.
Or whatever is left of him.
*~*
[1] Yami Bakura's past is like, 'twisted', and I'll explain more of it when the gang is actually inside his memories.....It's actually quite sad.....I read it off of this site, but don't sue if some of the info is wrong! Remember, I write what I think happened--but most of this stuff is based on fact (like Yami's name is really Atem!)
DUN-DUN-DUN! Suspense!
Sorry for the filler chappie! I seriously meant it to be an actual plot starting chappie, but one thing lead to another....and....well, yeah. Sorry, too, for the long update!
Nothing more to say but another sorry: Sorry for all grammar and spelling errors! (LOL p_girl!) And I HOPE to update sooner!

PLEASE REVIEW!
