If you have the time, PLEASE REVIEW!
A/N: Yeah, this new editing system does not allow me to put the stars and the swirly lines whenever I have a POV change....So, unfortunately, I'll be using '---' instead...Boring, I know.... (unless..)...OH! And, I've figured out how to use bold and italics too!
If you have any ideas for memories, please leave them in the review!
Chapter #23: How It Came To Be
-----Yugi's POV----
"Yugi! Are you okay?!" Téa asks frantically.
"Yeah. Fine. You?" I whisper back, holding my head from the fall.
"Good."
"Okay. Now, where are we?" I ask, looking around. After falling for about an hour, we landed--roughly--on some stone block that overlooks a much- decorated room. However, everything was still shaking and many of the gold statues and artifacts have already fell down and crumbled.
Suddenly, Atemu barges into the room and shuts the door quickly. "Yugi! Look!" Téa cries and points to the familiar Pharaoh.
"I must seal the power of these games so this madness will never occur again!" Atemu searched around the room for things......Maybe a ritual!
Finally, he gathered some--almost one hundred of them--gold urns and placed them in a circle. He stood outside the circle and began to chant softly so the sounds of everything else in the room drowned him out. The Puzzle began to glow brightly and the Millennium Symbol appeared on my Yami's forehead.
"Yugi? Now what's happening?!" Téa asked, coming closer beside me.
I blink to see a new scene. One that shows someone with white hair--Yami Bakura!-- holding the Millennium Ring and screaming......another one shows the same thing only with Kaiba and the Millennium Rod......A man with the Millennium Eye--one that I can't identify--grabs it as he screams.
The next one shows Justi crying over someone who is buried under a stone pillar that fell. Her Millennium Scales also glow. After that one, someone that looks like Ishizu faints as her Necklace glows.....Shadi grabs her before they both fall!
"Yugi!" Téa calls from beside me just before the scene changes back to Atemu chanting. The golden urns have fallen over and their contents have spilled towards the Millennium Symbol in the floor......Is that blood?!
"My God, into your hands, I commend my spirit and those of the other Millennium Item holders to seal the Dark Games. Accept the sacrifice of the blood of ninety-nine to vanquish the evils that I have brought forth. Seal them inside my own Item to protect our future Earth from the darkness they contain!" Atemu sounds over the background.
He looks up to the ceiling, clenches his hands into fists and begins to scream as the Millennium Symbol appears on his forehead and as his Puzzle levitates and glows.....Brighter and brighter......
Everything goes white. Everything stops; no more screams, no more rumbles, no more crashes. Everything is quiet.
As the whiteness fades, I see Atemu lying face first in the center of the circles. In the blood.......
"Is he--? Is he d-dead?" I ask softly. Téa doesn't answer as we continue to stare at the fallen Pharaoh; the day when he saved the future by giving up his real body and the bodies of the other Item holders......
----Tristan's POV----
"Ms. Gardner, please, I like to know a little about my clients before I sign them up." John smiles. Again. Give him a knife and he could be one of those serial killers in the movies! Like the Joker from Batman.....except I don't think he'd look good in his costume...
Téa keeps her mouth in a tight line, unsure of what to say. Don't. Say. Anything.
"Okay....let me get the ball rolling. How many people are in your family?"
"I'm an only child, Mr. Matthews." Téa mutters. You go girl! Stay away from the one name basis!
"I see..." And what would you say if she WASN'T an only child, huh John? Sorry pal, you can't have a chance with her sister! Or brother if that's how your life turns....
"Is that your natural hair colour?" John asks suddenly, smirking. Wouldn't YOU like to find out, you jackass!
"Excuse me?" Téa's face dropped to the floor for a second.
"I don't like girls who are fake." He grins.
"Mr. Matthews, I'm not comfortable with this conversation." Téa states bluntly, back straight and her eyes focused on that sleaze ball. Now, slap him in the face for some dramatic effect!
John's face changes. From that 'Hi, I'm your friend!' face to 'Obey me or die!' then back to 'Hi, I'm your friend!' This dude's like the devil in disguise or something!
He starts to laugh--evilly....and that's not a good thing when the dude could be Batman's next Joker. "I'm afraid you don't have a choice in the matter." He stands up and walks around the table to where Téa was sitting.
Téa stands up quickly and moves behind the chair. "I beg your pardon?"
John walks closer to her until he's nose to nose. "If you want that contract......you'll have to do something for me."
"I'm--I'm sorry, Mr. Matthews, but--but I need to get--uh--going!" Téa stutters and heads towards the door. Now, make a beautiful exit by calling him an array of names; like bastard.....or you perverted son of a bitch!
Why isn't the door opening? It's locked?! It can't be locked! Why are we stuck in a room with that psychopath?!
Téa jiggles with the knob for about a minute or so before giving up. "Mr. Matthews. I'd like to leave."
"No, I can't do that.....I haven't signed the deal with you yet." He walks closer. GET AWAY!
Thank God Téa hasn't lost her legs! She etches backwards towards his desk. "I'm not interested anymore!"
"Come on now Téa. This is your dream, isn't it?" John walks closer, moving his arms while he speaks, "To have your name in lights....fame....Don't you want that? All you have to do is do something for me and I CAN make it happen, my lovely. Besides, I'm still interested in you....."
Stay back, or else I'll kung-fu your ass, 'John'....Oh crap. Is that a wall we've backed up on?! Oh crap. We're cornered! John has two hands at either side of her face!!
"GET AWAY FROM ME YOU CREEP!" Téa screams. A loud smack tells me she gave him what he deserved! "Open that stupid door or else I'll call the polic-- !" John just grabbed Téa by the throat!
"You stupid little slut! How dare you talk to me in that tone of voice! I can give you everything and this is what you do?!" John shouts.
"Let....me....go!!" Téa struggles to talk. She tries to pry the hand off her neck by pounding it with a fist. No luck.....I know for a fact that girls have little upper body strength compared to guys...However, they have A LOT more lower body strength....
Téa just read my mind! With a loud smack, her knee connects with his....err....it's best I don't mention that detail. All I gotta say is "OUCH!"
His grip loosens and Téa quickly runs to the door. "You perverted bastard! Don't EVER call me again!" She pounds on the door, hoping that chick in the suit will hear her and open the door. "OPEN THE DOOR NOW!"
Before 'John' can stand up, the lady at the front desk opens the door and actually asks us, "Is there something wrong?" Good old attitude-filled Téa pushes past her and turns to face 'John'. With a pointed finger, she shouts "This place is the WORST! Don't think I'm through with you, Mr. Matthews! You'll hear from the NYPD!"
Go Téa! It's you birthday! You show 'em! Oh no. It's getting dark again.....
----In a Church--Reader's POV-----
Shadi, Ishizu and Pegasus all watched the preparations of the wedding. Pegasus kept pointing things out to them that were significant to his wife's condition getting worse.....and kept cursing himself of why he didn't get help....
"Pegasus, there was nothing you could of done." Shadi mutters. "From death comes life."
The one-eyed man moans with grief. "But what if I could of?! I'll never know if I could of saved her!"
"Maxamillion Pegasus." Ishizu states calmly. "It was destiny that you failed to comprehend her sickness. If it wasn't for her death, Duel Monsters would of never been brought back......and the Pharaoh would of never received his afterlife."
"But look at all the suffering Duel Monsters has caused! I almost killed the Kaiba brothers......and your brother Marik endangered the lives of many! Duel Monsters should have never been brought back!" Pegasus answered. "The 'Pharaoh's' journey into the afterlife is what brought us here in this God- forsaken memory pit in the first place!"
"It may seem that way Pegasus....." Ishizu whispers. "But destiny is what it is. If time does not move in a certain order with certain events, unexplained things occur......Time may be hard for us to control, but destiny and fate are what do control it.
"Every action is controlled by destiny. Sometimes, it is already planned to happen. Other times, there may be a change in plans--something spontaneous will occur. When these 'spontaneous' things occur, no one knows.
"Perhaps Pegasus that you did not create Duel Monsters; all of our fates would be jumbled up as well. My mother may not have died giving birth to Marik. My brother may not have become as evil as you say he is. This may seem like the best way, but someone else could have taken their place. Destiny has an odd way of working to set its plan....Pegasus, once something happens there is not much we can do to stop it." [1]
"But why couldn't I just--?" Pegasus doesn't answer. [She's right. If I didn't make Duel Monsters....who would of? It could have been another man who lost his wife.......]
Wedding bells ring in the memory signaling the beginning of the mass. Pegasus stands and wipes the tears from his eyes. "No more crying. I need to accept this and move on. What happened could have been for the best of all of us."
Shadi glanced at Pegasus from his sudden change of heart. "If you were to change one thing in the past, it would affect the future for better.....or for worse."
"With this ring, Cecilia Kakashi, do you promise through richer or poorer, sickness and in health to love Maxamillion Pegasus, your husband to be?" The priest smiles as he gives Pegasus the ring.
Cecilia smiled happily. "I do. Of course I do!" With that, Pegasus placed the ring on her finger and she hugged him tightly. "I love you so much!"
"You may now kiss the bride." The couple did not need an order to do that as they embraced each other and kissed passionately.
Although Pegasus told himself he wouldn't cry, he could not seem to hold it in.
"Pegasus?" Ishizu asked. [I hope he does not get into his depressed state again.]
"I'm fine. Just.....never mind." He muttered. Pegasus breathed deeply and brought a smile to his face. "It may have for a short time, but I cherish all my memories with her. She was always there, even when she was sick or when she passed on, to make me smile....."
Ishizu smiled at him. "I am glad you have come to realize that."
As the hugs and kisses continued between the new couple, it began to get dark again. "Pegasus, Ishizu!" Shadi cried as he grabbed on to both of them. "We must not get separated!"
"Goodbye my Cecilia." Pegasus whispered to the fading image of their marriage. "I'll meet you someday once more......"
-----Elaya's POV----
"Kaiba! Why did you hold me back! I could of grabbed him!" I shout at Seto. "Who knows where he is now!"
"I'm telling you. The mutt can always make it back to his master."
"Oh. And I suppose that would be you?" I ask, glaring. I don't care if this guy was the President of theUnited States, Joey isn't a mutt! I'm getting tired of his remarks!
He doesn't answer me. Good! Not that I'd want one anyway. I stuck my tongue out at him for kicks, but he gave me the usual scoff. "Now what?" He asks. Once again, we are surrounded in the darkness.
"Wanna make a campfire and sing, 'Cum-bai-ya' or something?" I smile as I remember that old song.....I start to hum it.
"Not funny and stop humming." He scolds.
"Jeeze, what has gotten into you these last couple of days?" Whoa. My voice did one of those puberty changes. Coughing a bit, my voice went back to normal. Damn. I hope that syrup will last me a couple more hours.....
"Nothing." He mutters. Okay. First rule of lying: Never say 'Nothing' because it obviously means 'something' is wrong. This time, I'll let it slide. It must be one of his 'moments' when he doesn't want anyone to bother him.
"Whatever." Grabbing my flashlight, I wave it around in the darkness hoping to find someone or some other memory to 'entertain' me. Hey! Who's that?! "Seto! Come on! I see someone!"
Running towards the figure clad in white, she turns towards the light and smiles. It's her! Holy crap! After a year that I've never talked to her, Justi is back! My Yami! I've found her! A sense of completeness washes over me as my other half smiles from her position in front of me.
((( Elaya! ))) She cries in thought. ((( How I've missed you! )))
Her body becomes almost see through as I continue to run towards it. Huh? I passed through her!
((( My light! I have taken refuge inside your mind. Remember that chamber that was once for me? I'm inside there for now. I am only a spirit. This time I have nothing to fill my chambers with. It is just me; nothing more. ))) She informs. I'm so glad to have her back.
(( Justi! I'm so glad I've found you! Man! It's been like, ages since I've used this thing! Testing....One, two, three.....Can you hear me? )) I joke.
((( Very well. ))) Justi responds. I've missed her so much. Now I can have those mental chats!
(( So....How have you been? )) I smile. (( What memories have YOU stumbled upon? ))
((( The days where I was becoming a solider in Atemu's army. I believe I witnessed my first try into getting in.....but was defeated. ))) She explained.
I gasped over-dramatically. (( By WHO? ))
((( Jounouchi. ))) She mutters somewhat on a sad note.
I did once of those double-takes and acted like a black rapper for a second. (( Say what? ))
((( Jou was battling me to get into the army to get away from his old job. I believe it has something to do with Priest Seth, but I'm not sure who he was trying to get away from. )))
Oh. I know what she's talking about. He was a slave and with the torture Seth was giving him, he needed to get away. The battle between them must of happened before Justi found out about his job. I see. I saw a memory of Jou's job. (( He was Seth's servant. )) I mumble as quickly as I could, not wanting to get into details.
((( Oh. ))) She whispered. I can see why he needed to get away. Soft, short chuckles echoed.
Speaking of Seth.... I turn around expecting to see Seto behind me. Darkness. Shit. Where is he? "Seto?!" I shout. "SETO?!" My cries get more frantic. I really don't wanna be alone again!
I run towards the place where I came from to find that he's gone. He vanished. Poof. Right out of thin air. Shit! I should have grabbed his hand when I was running towards Justi! This is the same way I lost Joey! Dammit....I was probably too busy talking to my Yami and seeing her for the first time to check if Seto was coming! Oh no....Oh no.....Now what?!
A bright light comes towards me. It beckons me to follow.
I run towards it and hope for the best.
The orphanage......

[1] Um...yeah....That just sounds like something Ishizu would go on about. I'm sleep deprived, what do you want from me?
Ta-da! Wow....this chappie is four days ahead of schedule. See how nice I am? Instead of cramming for my last exam, I threw my book outside and finished up this chapter. I hope you're all happy. La la la la la!
