Disclaimer: This is the LAST time I'm saying it! (yawn) Must I REALLY go through with this for the eighty-eighth time?! Don't you people get it yet? I have no ownership (big shock) of Yu-Gi-Oh! If I did, Kaiba, Joey and Atemu would be walking around shirtless for most of the episodes.....
If you have the time, PLEASE REVIEW!
Chapter #33: Peace
-----Elaya's Apartment-Elaya's POV------
Another limb being chain-sawed off. Another high-pitched scream coming from my macho male friends (i.e. Joey and Tristan). Another sigh from me.
"Joey, for the billionth time, it isn't real, so stop screaming!" Mai shouts at him. "You're supposed to be the strong one here!"
Like ALL of our great ideas, renting a movie with the title 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre' was from the mind of Joey. Apparently, he did not know what the movie was about. I thought the 'Chainsaw' and 'Massacre' would be a hint.....Another sigh.
"Look, is it MY problem that I feel a tad jumpy after seeing someone's leg twitch when it's not attached to their body?!" Joey shouts back.
"Guys, please, stop fighting." Bakura whines. He was the only one who never jumped when someone got decapitated or something. I have to admit, when the guy got his entire lower body sawed off, I flinched.....But Bakura? Oh no, didn't move at all. He looked kinda fascinated by it all actually.
I guess after today's events, it would be better off to slip into the world of fake blood and cheap Hollywood acting. Once again, another 'brilliant' idea from Joey sent everyone that we knew off to a Karaoke Bar called Mystical Music......
Well, actually, I deserve SOME of the credit for suggesting that we should all celebrate early or belated birthdays one day--you know, just a party to exchange gifts and such since we couldn't really get together during the school year.
So, after Mai insisted and persisted that I get into one of my old red plaid skirts and some knee--high leather boots-that make me look like a freakin' dominatrix--we were off. Wearing those articles of clothing along with some chains, black nail-polish, dark lipstick and bracelets, I wore a simple black T-shirt that had the Van Halen signature on the top right side......which Mai disapproved of.
Téa wore a blue skirt with a yellow tank top and Mai was wearing shiny purple pants with a white halter top. Even though I complained about not getting to wear pants, I was forced into the car with Joey, Tristan, Yugi, and Bakura--Téa got to ride up front. Lucky. Honestly, it was NON-STOP jokes about giving Kaiba a thrill when he's alone in his office. I really don't wanna explain THOSE jokes.....Younger ones might hear
Joey and Tristan were totally casual: faded shorts--past the knee in length--that were wrinkled beyond ironing with T-shirts like mine. Yugi looked a bit more spiffy, wearing close-fitting black jeans and a navy blue tank top. Bakura was wearing beige cargo pants which were rolled up at the knee with a green button up shirt.
Then, when we got there, Joey and Tristan started to order drinks. Not your standard virgin strawberry daiquiri [1] or anything, but like, actual shots of vodka. I tried ONE shot of this clear stuff and felt like I had to throw up. Never touched it again. Yugi and Téa didn't even try them while Bakura and Mai did it once, stopping there. Joey and Tristan had about three each before calling it quits by practically collapsing at our table. Mai hit both of them over the head. That was the best part.
Then-oh yeah, there's more-when the stage was free, Joey and Tristan went up there and started jumping up and down and lip-singing to Billy Talent's 'Try Honesty'. Téa took a picture in which Tristan promised he'd rip up.
I went up after them and sung one of my good old rock songs; Mai and Téa did back-up. A few claps and cat-calls followed afterwards. Joey and Tristan ALSO got a couple of cat-calls after their 'singing' and the people who made them--two forty-year-old women who wore too much make-up--came to our table and started to hit on them. WELL, that didn't go too good with Mai as both of the women were drunk. So, in the end, we got throw out of the club and got banned for about a week for 'reckless behaviour' as Mai got into a fight with one of the ladies.
Bakura was the one to suggest that we should all go back to someone's house to ride out the embarrassment of hanging around Joey and Tristan. Well, he didn't exactly say THAT, but I could so tell he wanted to. And thus, here we are, watching a movie that is scaring the pants off of the people who wanted to see it (i.e Joey and Tristan). All is right with the world.
"Wait, so this was based on a true story?" Yugi asked as the movie finished.
"Yup. Appears so." Bakura said, sitting back in the armchair he was sitting in.
"And it was never closed. Oh-h-h-h-h.." Téa wailed like a ghost at the last part, trying to get an expression out of Joey and Tristan. It worked.
"Oh no! Dude! That means there could be a sequel! The Domino City Chainsaw Massacre!" Tristan cried. Oh no. Another 'brilliant' idea.
"Tristan, for the love of all that is holy, don't start." I moan. "Don't put another idea in his head. Joey," I pause, averting my eyes to the blonde, "the guy probably died already. If he didn't, he must have had a good laugh seeing himself on the big screen."
"Yeah! It's like, 'Hey Ma! Look at me! I'm on the T.V.' And then, his mom is actually her skeleton sitting in the armchair beside him...." Joey's voice trailed off, with his eyes landing on the chair Bakura was sitting in, making both boys uncomfortable.
"Come on Joey. Don't bring in 'Psycho'!" Téa smacked her forehead with her palm. "You're gonna scare yourself!"
But, he was already looking blankly at the wall in front of him. Mai hit him at the back of the head. "Just don't think about it."
"Fine. What ELSE should I think about?" Joey huffed. I had an answer to that....had something to do with his 'magazines'.....honestly though, I wouldn't want THAT happening in my T.V. room.
Téa clapped her hands together. "How about we play a game?!"
"Sure, sounds good." Yugi agreed, as the rest of us nodded. "What games you got, Elaya?"
"Uh," I stammered, trying to remember. "I think I have Sorry, Battleship.....One of those Monopoly games, not the original....."
"I got it!" Joey interrupted brightly. Oh no. Another idea. "How about Truth or Dare?"
"Jesus Joey, what are we? In sixth grade?" Mai asked bewildered. Hell, to me, it sounded fun!
"I'm in." I smiled. Yugi and Téa looked back at one another, reluctantly agreeing. Tristan nodded enthusiastically and Bakura shrugged a "Sure, whatever."
"Oh well Mai, it's everyone against you." Joey grinned, rubbing his hands together. "Truth or Dare it is! So, who wants to start?" Since no one volunteered, Joey shrugged and said he will. "Okay, Bakura, Truth or Dare?"
Bakura looked a bit startled when Joey called on his name. "Uh....Truth."
Joey thought for a bit. "This is probably the stupidest question ever, but I need to know. Bakura, are ya British?"
"No. Not at all." He answered.
"Then how come you talk with that accent?"
Bakura sighed. "My parents would constantly be on the move. Even though they are of Japanese decent, I was born in Britian because of my dad's work. We stayed there until I was about seven years old, so I picked up the accent."
"Huh. So that's how it works. Cool!" Joey smiled. "Okay, now, you pick someone."
"Alright then. Yugi, truth or dare?"
I didn't really hear his answer, I kinda blanked out. As my thoughts changed from those of chainsaws to Kaiba, I smiled. We hadn't really talked much after that meeting on the bridge. It always felt awkward. But, we are still technically girlfriend and boyfriend, just not as close as before. But, it'll get better. I know it!
And remember that cold? Well, after a dose of fever medication, I was back on track. The doctor—that Seto prescribed—told me that my cold escalated to a fever with the conditions in Egypt. But I'm fine now. I hope anyway.....I took a whole bottle of that medicine that tastes like shoe-polish before I knew I didn't just have a cold!
"Elaya?" Tristan's voice brought me back to reality. "Truth or Dare?" Whoa. It's been two turns already!
"Uh......Dare." I smirked. What? I was feeling dare-ish!
Tristan rested his head in one hand and thought. "Okay, I got it. I dare you to call Kaiba. But don't tell him that is you. Like, disguise your voice and be annoying. Be like one of those telemarketers..."
Crap. "Okay. Gimme a phone." Téa fished her cell-phone out of her purse and handed it to me.
"Put it on speaker!" Joey suggested. Rolling my eyes as I did so, I dialled and told everyone to shut up. After going through the secretary, he picked up. "Kaiba."
"Yes, hullo." I put on my best British accent. "I'm from the Department of....Account-Checking and wanted to see if your files were on the ball. Now, let's go through them, shall we? Starting with November 1999. You had expenses of $300 902 and--"
"--I don't have time for this." He cut me off.
"Now now Mr. Kaiba, is that a way to talk to a lady?" I smirk as Joey's face turns a shade of pink from holding in laughter. "Your liabilities were also quite high, $420 938! Honestly, what are you buying? Something to quell those teenage hormones?"
"How dare you talk to me like that! I could have you fired!" He threatens.
"Well, Mr. Kaiba, you should know that their isn't such a thing as 'Account-Checking'! You should consider getting one though; these files are out of whack!"
"Is this some sort of a joke?" Kaiba snarls.
"Meh. Probably." And with that I hung up the phone. As soon as the speaker was off, everyone burst into laughter. "There? Happy?"
"Okay, okay..." Joey said, between gasps of air. "Your turn."
"Alright. I pick....." Looking once at Téa, she nodded. "Joey."
A bit shocked, but he grinned nonetheless. "I pick.....Truth. I don't trust you."
"Alrighty then, Mr. Wheeler, I have a truth for you. Since you talk big, are you still a virgin?" I smile from ear to ear. Me and Téa had planned this. If anyone would of suggested 'Truth or Dare' either me or Téa would ask Joey that question!
I saw him turn pink, then red. Then, he flipped. Joey started waving his hands in the air as he fell off the couch. "DARE! I pick Dare!"
I looked at Téa again. She nodded. "Okay then, I dare you to dress up like a girl."
"WHAT?! You got to be kiddin' me! I ain't doing that!" He shouts still on the floor.
Téa smiles. "Yeah! Time for a Punishment!"
Joey paled. He must of forgotten when you don't pick a Truth OR a Dare, you get a punishment that could last the entire day. "No! Wait! I'll do the Dare!" He cried.
"Too late." Téa smriked. "Tell him what he has to do, Elaya!"
"Your Punishment, MISTER Joey is that you have to kiss someone every time someone else says hello. The person who gets a kiss is the person who gets the greeting or the person who said it--if the greeting is said to you. Get it?" I explain.
"I take it back! I'll dress like a girl! I'll-" He started to say before Téa cut him off with a shake of her head.
"Sorry Joey, the Punishment stands." She smiled. We both high-fived.
"You two were in on this the entire time?!" Joey freaked. We both grinned and nodded. Joey sunk his head in defeat. "You two are sick! Who's idea was this anyways?!"
"Uh, YOURS smart-one." Mai said, poking his nose with her finger. "And that means that YOU'RE stuck with the Punishment. Okay Joey, you're turn again."
"My beautiful lady friend, Mai, Truth or Dare?" He smirked.
Mai raised an eyebrow. "Truth."
Joey whispered the question into her ear and everyone watched as Mai's face turned red and angry. Pushing him away, she shouted, "Joey! I am NOT telling you what my bra size is!!"
"Dare then?" Grinning like an idiot, Joey was holding in his laughter.
"Fine. Dare."
"I dare you to drink whatever I put in this cup." Joey held up the plastic cup that was on the table. Placing it back on the coffee table, he started to add all the soda-pop that I placed out for him. He's wasting all my precious carbonate drinks.....which Téa bought...
"I had to pay for those! Don't waste all of them!" She cried, standing up. "Joey! I'm talking to you! Hello? Anybody hom--!" Téa clamped her hands over her mouth. Shit. She just said 'Hello.' This is gonna be good.
"The Punisher gets it now!" Tristan laughed as Joey stood up, pretending to check his breath.
He waltzed over to her and smiled. "I've loved since I first laid eyes on you! Please, lemme kiss you!" He said in a fake, overly-dramatic voice. Yugi was cracking up as Joey gave Téa a peck on the cheek. She sighed out of defeat.
"Just don't mix all of them together! I paid for those!" Téa repeated, flushed. Finally, Joey stopped mixing the Sprite, Coca-Cola, Pepsi and Fruitopia and handed it to her. "Your beverage, madam."
Looking at the bubbling substance once, Mai shut her eyes and drank it down in a gulp. Everyone besides Joey and Tristan clapped. "Eck! Nasty!"
"Alright Mai, it's your turn now!" Yugi said.
"Then, I pick......Téa! I know that you've been through enough, but let's keep the ball rolling."
"Truth."
"How far have you and Yugi gone? You know, in that sense."
Téa blushed the deepest red and her eyes went wide. "Uh.....Mphm....Er-r....Well...."
Mai sighed. "Alright. Since you can't make any coherent sentences, just nod if I'm right. Okay?"
Téa nodded. Yugi was now also blushing. Very red too.
"Okay, open-mouth kissing?" She asked with a smirk.
Téa froze for a moment but then nodded, shutting her eyes tightly. "That's as far as we've gone!" She blurted quickly. Yugi and her continued to be red as tomatoes several minutes afterwards.
However, before Téa could muster up enough courage to ask anyone 'Truth or Dare' the doorbell rang.
"No one get up." I joked. "I'll get it." Trying to smooth out the wrinkles in my skirt, I opened the door.
"Hello Elaya." I know that voice....That's...Seto's...
"Uh...Hello to you too." I say almost on impulse. My mind was on more important matters....like, does he know that it was me that called him?! Oh no....
"Do I have to stand here all day or are you gonna let me in?" He smirked.
Stuttering, I managed to bring him inside. He sat next to me on the couch after a quick round of nods and 'hellos.' Everything was quiet.
Too quiet.
That's when Joey stood up and checked to see if his breath smelled. I guess it did as he popped a gum in his mouth and chewed on it for a few noisy seconds. What is he--? Oh no.
"Joey, don't!" Bakura shouted before I could. "He's gonna kill you!"
"First we live, then we die. It'll be fun." Joey grinned and walked towards Kaiba, swinging his hips like he had ants in his pants. Telling me to move with the flip of his hands, he motioned that he wanted to sit down beside Kaiba. "No. I'm not mov--OW!" He sat right on my lap! I don't care how skinny he looks, he's heavy!
"HELLO Kaiba..." Joey grinned leaning in real close to his face.
"What are you doing?" Kaiba was slowly leaning backwards. His eyes were wide with confusion. "Are you on some flea medication that has serious side-effects or something?"
"Aw, why must you ruin every moment we have together with those corny dog jokes Kaiba?" Joey asked in a hurt voice. "Only I know that they are REALLY expressions of your feelings for little ol' me." Batting his eyelashes Joey made a pouty face that made me want to die. This has gone TOO far....
"What the hell are you talking about?" Kaiba blinked a couple of times, realizing how close Joey's face was to his.
"Oh! You can't deny our feelings forever! Just shut up and kiss me you fool!" Joey cried in a high-pitched, over-dramatic voice--like he did with Téa. That's when he put his hand over Kaiba's mouth and kissed his own fingers.....creating the illusion of him lip-locking with MY boyfriend.
A 'click' noise told us that Téa had snapped yet another picture. Everyone was laughing when Kaiba practically threw Joey into the nearby wall, wiping his lips with the back of his shirt. "Great, now I'm gonna get rabies."
"Punishment OVER." I shout loudly.
"Damn, I was looking forward to kissing someone else." Joey said sarcastically, rubbing his hands on his pants. "For the record, Kaiba, I still truly hate you."
"Wouldn't want it any other way....Especially not that way. If you were that desperate and horny, I know of a great dating service going on in the pound." Kaiba retorted, still wiping his mouth. "Do you have any water?"
"In the kitchen. In the fridge." I reply, still giggling after seeing Kaiba's face when Joey fake-kissed him.
"So, Téa? Ask someone a Truth or Dare." Yugi reminded, still laughing.
"I pick Joey once more. Joey, Truth or Dare?" Téa smiled with an evil glint in her eyes.
Noticing the evil, Joey responded quickly, "Truth....no wait--!"
"--Truth? Perfect." Téa interrupted. Will Joey ever learn? Never pick Truth! "Did you enjoy that kiss with Kaiba? And you know where I'm going with this." That sent everyone into hysterical laughter, making Bakura almost lose his balance sitting in the chair. Ah yes, life is good.
Since Joey didn't want to answer that question, we all exchanged gifts with our respective person. A few weeks beforehand, everyone put their name in a hat and everyone got one person to buy a gift for. Téa told me that she got Yugi. I had Joey....Another sigh. For a gag gift, I got him a pair of boxers that had four leaf clovers on them with the words, 'Luck of the Irish' on the waistband. I also got him a dress shirt after bluntly asking him what size he takes--I don't think he caught on.
In the end, Joey got Mai a gold necklace with a purple stone for a pendant and he liked my gift very much; especially the boxers. Tristan gave Bakura a gift certificate at a local music shop along with some key-chains and a lollipop. Yugi gave Tristan a wallet with another gift certificate--for a clothing shop--and got some shirts and a new CD from Téa. Mai gave Téa a whole lot of make-up and a purse. Bakura got me some new 'rocker-type' bracelets with a tank top.
After rounds and rounds of 'thank-you's' it was time to go. Everyone left, promising to stop by tomorrow to see a movie or whatever.
"We better be doing something! I don't want this summer to end off on a boring note!" Joey said before making a triumphant exit by tripping over the first step at my door. Yugi, Bakura and Téa were the last to leave since the two previous Item holders talked to me about how if I feel lonely and stuff since Justi left, that they're going through the same thing and would be happy to hear me talk about it over the phone or in person.
"I know it feels weird and all, but we're all in this together." Yugi smiled.
"The memories that you two shared with your Yami's will be in your mind forever, no matter how long the separation may be." Bakura added in before leaving. "Don't worry, they'll be with you two, guiding and helping, even if you can't talk to them. They hear you.....I'll see you guys around."
I waved from my front porch as Téa, Yugi and Bakura walked away, as Tristan sped down the street on his motorcycle, and as Joey and Mai left in her car. As I re-entered my house, I noticed that Seto was still there. He had been sitting on the couch the entire time, watching the gifts being opened and listening to the pointless babble between us.
Now, he was just staring into the blank television screen.
"Seto?" I ask, jumping back a little when he was startled by my voice. "Want something to drink?"
"Huh? Oh--Yeah, uh, sure. Water please." He responded quickly. I nodded and was turning to go into the kitchen when he caused me to stop. "Elaya, I need to talk--No, never mind." He shut himself up, and continued to look at the television screen.
"What? You need to talk? Alright, talk." I said, walking back towards him.
"No, it's....never mind. Forget I said it."
"Now I'm curious. What do you need to talk about?" I ask. "If it's about that call made to your office, I swear, it was a Dare that Tristan told me to do!"
"No no...Not that....Besides I knew it was you. Téa's cell-phone number was saved onto my phone by you and I read it off of the screen after the call was over.....Just forget about it."
This guy doesn't get it. I'm gonna keep annoying him until he tells me! "Seto! Come on!" He didn't answer me. "Fine." I closed the distance between us and sat on his lap. "I'm not moving until you tell me what you wanted to talk about."
"No, Elaya--"
"--Nope. I'm not moving. So you better tell me." I know this is like, first grade, but he provoked me. Now I need to know.
He growled deep in his throat and tried to push me off his legs. I put a death grip on his knee-caps so I wouldn't move. Much. "Elaya!"
Laughing at his struggles, I managed to shout a "No way! Tell me!"
I felt his hands close in on mine as he pried mine apart from his knee-caps. After some twisting and turning, I ended up facing him, one leg on the cushion beside him and one leg on him. That's when everything stopped. The house was quiet and so were we. I felt some blush come to my cheeks knowing what an awkward position we were in with my skirt and dominatrix boots and all......Oh, just great.
He looked at me for the longest time with only his breathing as the sounds I heard. Whatever he has to say, it has to be pretty big!
"Elaya?" He asked, after a LONG silence.
"Yeah?" I ask shakily.
"You're the only person who I have been able to open up to. And I....I...." He stopped.
"What?"
"I've been thinking about things...and....I...." Why does he keep stopping?
"Seto, please, what are you saying?" I ask again.
"Elaya, you're really special to me. You mean the world to me....When I saw you on the bridge, I thought that I would lose you forever.....I never want that to happen again. I want to be with you.....I think.....I think I'm falling in love with you."
I look at him, eyes wide. Did he just say he was falling......in love with me? Oh my God....
"No, Elaya, scratch that." Seto looked down, adverting my eyes. "I am in love with you." He paused for a second before meeting my eyes again. "I love you, Elaya. There's something about you.....I don't know how to describe it. It's just there and it makes me feel like a whole new person every time I see you. I love you."
Oh my God....He—He—He loves me? HE LOVES ME! A smile creeps over my open mouth as I start to whimper a bit. "Oh God....." I mumble out. "Seto....I realized on the bridge that I loved you, but I thought that you didn't feel the same, so I didn't say anything. Oh my God!"
"Do you still love me? Even after what I did?" He asked slowly.
I nod quickly, still smiling. "Seto, I'll love you for a million tomorrows!"
A genuine smile came on his face. "Good." Right after he finished talking, he captured my lips in a kiss. Then another one. Then another one after that.
When we broke apart for the third time, the kiss that came after that was slower to start. We both started leaning in at the same time and finally, after forever, I reached his lips. He put hands at the back of my neck to deepen it, but I didn't mind. It felt nice. It was also nice when I felt his tongue glide over my lips and slip past them, hitting my teeth. Parting them, I moved my tongue to meet his and they touched for a long couple of seconds. This is the greatest kiss I've ever had. Well, the only open-mouth kiss that I've ever had, but it is the greatest one yet!
I don't want this feeling to end! Every time our tongues touched it was magic....It felt so cool! I don't want this kiss to end! I don't care if I lose out on oxygen and go into a coma because of it, I don't want this kiss to end! I can live without oxygen! But I can't live without Seto......I just don't want this moment to--!
Someone coughed from beside us, breaking my thoughts and our kiss. Pulling apart quickly, we notice that it's Joey and my mother....Oh God....
"I, uh, forgot my jacket.....I'll be going..." Joey was trying not to laugh. "Oh, and get a room you two!" He said in that high-pitched voice as he ran out the front door. He finally let loose his laugh as he exited.
My mom was still standing there, hands folded in front of her chest, smiling. "I'm probably gonna get fired for this, but...." She paused once more, looking at us—or me, since I was practically sitting on Seto—before saying, "....not until you two are married and never in my T.V. room." And with that, she turned swiftly and waltzed into the kitchen, laughing softly.
Okay, maybe I do want this moment to end. What a summer.....Of all my adventures: going to Egypt, getting lost in Atemu's mind....losing my Yami--I hope she's having a good time with Atemu.....But I think this one ends on a much better note.
And I gotta say, this 'adventure' will be tough to beat.
THE END
-------
Well,I hope you all liked the conclusion to The Millennium Scales III: Quest for the Items. Write comments in your review :)
I decided for a partially open ending because it flowed properly....I'm not one of those people who write 'And then Elaya and Seto lived happily ever after'. I'll let your imaginations run wild with that ending. But I thought it was sweet and nice...I very big change from the previous two. I really hoped you enjoyed the ending.
As for me returning with a new story? I'm already writing one with my friend, pirategirl15 (there's an underscore between 'pirate' and 'gurl'....stupid editing system won't allow it to show) called "POWER: An Insane Crossover Story" And believe me, it IS insane. In our story we have:
1) Yu-Gi-Oh!
2) Card Captors
3) Yu Yu Hakusho (takes breath)
4) Harry Potter
5) Inu-Yasha
6) Cowboy BeBop
7) Naruto
8) Dragon Ball Z
It's basically about Voldermort getting all the power from different animés from Japan (Millennium Items, Jewel of Four Souls etc) and everyone is after him (OR trying to get power too!). Read it when you have the chance, it's REALLY funny and hilarious!
And my mom, instead of being PROUD of her daughter who has found a creative outlet for writing, scolds me and tells me to stop writing because "It'll....It'll hurt your eyes, staying in front of that computer! And plus, you and that animé garbage....Will you ever stop?" So, yeah..... No worries though, I will be writing....Just not as much :)
As for a sequel? Probably not....As much as I love the characters that I got going on here, adding to a trilogy....I don't know....I might drag out the story too much....Kinda like 'Scream' (scary movie with Neve Cambell) after the first one, it all went downhill....Hey, you never know! You might be seeing a TMS IV! (believe me, I'm ALL out of ideas!)
I'd like to thank EVERYONE who has helped me out here! Reviewers especially! :) Thanks for the memories and "You rock!" comments that made me continue!
SPECIAL THANKS TO: Jemmie, who gave me the whole idea for the Kaiba/Elaya break up scene.
Pirate(underscore)gurl15, who gave me some good ideas for funny parts!
All you readers too, because you all rock
You haven't seen the last of Evil StormSister! I hope you'll review honestly! Unfortunately, this is (for the third time)
OFFICIALLY, THE END.
See you around.
