I definitely do NOT own Yuyu Hakusho. Also, just so's ya all know, this is a one-shot, sugarcoated, Yusuke/Keiko fic. So if you don't like those... I guess... just don't read it. Thanks! Yay! Oh, and this is also my very firstest story, so bear with me... Okay, guess that covers it! Enjoy! Final Wish

The Dark Tournament is over at last. Miraculously, Team Urameshi is the victor. Yusuke, fresh from his grueling fight, stumbles from the battlefield. He is badly wounded, but he makes it back to his teammates without falling. An unidentifiable voice comes over the loudspeakers:

"Team Urameshi is the winner. Yusuke Urameshi, please state your wish." Yusuke coughs, and then utters his words in a whisper. Not a soul in the stadium hears, but apparently, that is irrelevant. A blinding flash of light follows his sentence, and when the spots fade from the spectators' eyes, they see the boy tightly closing his fist around... something. The something he had wished for, the something it had taken so very long to get, the something he valued as much as his life. That something could fit into the palm of his hand.

Another coughing fit brings him to his knees, and he spits blood onto the grass before taking a deep, shuddering breath. His friends bend down to help him, but he waves them away, speaking one soft word - "Keiko..."

Up in the stands, Keiko watches in awe, then fright, as Yusuke first defeats his adversary, then collapses. She cannot hear him ask for her. The situation is soon remedied by their rather... loud friend, Kuwabara.

"Ukimura! Urameshi's askin' for you!" Keiko, hearing his yell, fairly flies down what's left of the stadium staircase, and rushes straight to Yusuke's side.

The boy gives her a weak grin, and goes to stand up, but falls back down, catching himself on one knee. Keiko stops herself from offering help, knowing he would only turn it down. Instead, she leans forward to hear his rasping whisper.

"Kieko...I...I know I've been...really stupid...but for the past f...few months, I've hardly g...gone a day without...worrying about...you. I've...I've really thought...I might lose y...you. I never want...to lose you." Yusuke looks up at the girl, and opens his hand, revealing his wish - a sparkling, iridescent diamond ring. "Keiko Yukimura...will you...marry me?"

Stunned, she stares at him for almost half a minute of complete silence. Then, pulling him upright beside her, and hugging him for all she's worth, she bursts into joyous sobs, broken by her response. "Yes! Oh, yes, Yusuke, yes!" When she finally lets go of him, he looks at her with the cocky smile she knows so well.

"What? I propose and I don't even get a proper kiss?" So, laughing, out in the middle of the arena, she kisses him. And the entire stadium, demon or not, erupts into cheers.
