Promise Kiss
"I'm going to be late!" Tifa said to herself as she ran through the streets of Nibelheim. Cloud had said to meet at the well that night to tell her something. She was pretty surprised and he thought she wouldn't come. But she did.
"Cloud! Sorry I'm late." She said, smiling at him. "It's okay. Anyways, I'm leaving Nibelheim for Midgar. I'm going to join SOLDIER." Cloud told her. "Does that mean you'll be in the newspapers?" Tifa asked suddenly. "Only the best but I'll try." Cloud replied. "Make me a promise. If I'm ever in trouble, my hero, Cloud, will come rescue me." She said with shining eyes. Cloud hesitated at first. "I'm not sure." "Promise me." Tifa said, a little sadness in her voice. "I promise." Cloud said finally.
Once, Cloud agreed, Tifa stepped toward him and looked at him with loving eyes and a smile. She went up on her toes and put her lips to his, closing her eyes.
Cloud stiffened for a moment but relaxed and kissed her back. After what seemed like an eternity, Tifa pulled back and hugged him. "I'll miss you. Too bad you have to leave. We could've been best friends." She said, tears forming in her eyes. "Or more." Cloud said, wiping her tears away. Cloud lightly pulled back and looked at Tifa one more time. Tifa looked back with caring eyes.
Cloud turned his back to her and walked off to the end of town. Tifa looked at his figure until it disappeared completely from her view. She turned back to the well and whispered, "Our goodbye kiss happened here. No, our Promise Kiss."
