I own
nothing… except for all the lovely little things I strategically placed in the
poppet.
Note: All right, here's the game… something new is in the poppet every week for
Cheever and Herrick to find! Let's
begin!
-------------
Cheever (lifts up the poppet's skirt, his eyes widen in shock, surprise and
horror): It is a GRAND PIANO! Herrick! Herrick! It is a grand piano!
Herrick (comes forward as Cheever pulls out piano): Aye, sir, that's a grand
piano, alright!
Proctor (storms over in anger and astonishment): How the bloody blazes did that
get there?
Cheever (hiding from proctor from behind piano): I had my doubts, Proctor, but
this is hard proof! (To Hale) You see
sir it is a grand piano!
Hale (shaking his head as he realizes he's the most sane person in the room):
So what proof is a grand piano?
Cheever (a bit confused on what to say): Don't know... but I am sure it is a
notorious sign of witchcraft!
Herrick: It would take a witch to put a big grand piano in a poppet!
Cheever: Aye, you see, we must put your wife under arrest for this good, solid
proof!
Proctor: What the blazes would I do with a grand piano, anyway?
Hale: Grand pianos are said to be the devil's instruments.
Elizabeth (thrusting her arms into to the air with anguish): I have not kept
any grand pianos since I were a girl!
Cheever: A likely story, but we all know a grand piano can keep a long time,
don't we, Herrick?
Hale: How can you be sure it was Elizabeth who put the grand piano in the
poppet?
Giles (standing up in a fit of anger): What are you saying, Hale? Do you call
John a witch?
Hale (who knows it is unwise to mess with Giles Corey): Why... why no, Giles, I
was only saying that...
Giles (picking up the grand piano ready to thrust it at Hale): You shall not accuse
John of witchcraft, nor his wife, nor mine!
Mary Warren (runs in): I go your way no more, you are the devil's man! (Giles
drops the piano on Frances Nurse in shock.)
Cheever: Well, at least we're arresting someone tonight! Sorry, John, nothing personal… come,
Herrick, get the chains!
Proctor: Have no fear, Elizabeth; I will fall like an ocean on- (but he is
pulled of the stage before he could finish.)
