Just a little something I wrote that is set after Kratos betrays Lloyd and Colette is without a soul.

Diclaimer- I don't own anything. Anything at all. No even my own soul...

"You bastard!"

Lloyd Irving drew back his fist, before smashing it into the old tree. Pulling it back, his knuckles bleeding and sore, he punched the tree once more, a yell of rage emitting from the young swordsman.

I've been betrayed. And now Colette is... he glanced back toward the camp. Everyone sat around the fire in silence. No one dared to speak. They all sat quietly trying to understand what had happened.

Raine sat with her hand under her chin, the usual posture she had when she was deep in thought. The beautiful elf sat next to the fire, it's flame casting odd shadows on her face. Lloyd had known Raine most of his life, after all, she was his teacher. But he had never really though that they had a real friendship until recently. This journey had certainly brought them much closer than teacher and student, they were now friends.

Close to Raine, sat Genis, her younger brother. The short young elf sat closer to her sister than usual. He seemed equally distressed by the betrayal. His usual bright eyes, seemed clouded. Genis was Lloyd's best friend. The smartest kid in probably all of Slyvarant, and what Genis lacked in height, he certainly made up for in brains. And magic.

Far from the fire, sitting deep within the shadows, sat Sheena. The young assassin sat with a frown on her face, her legs drawn up to her chest. Corrine sat near her, offering what comfort the young summon spirit could. She was sent to kill them, yet had become their friend and joined them on their journey to regenerate the world.

Lloyd felt his throat go dry as his gaze fell on Collete. Her usual bright smile was gone. Her face was like stone. She neither blinked nor drew a breath. Her eyes held no emotion whatsoever. She was like a statue. Lloyd felt his anger rise again. Because of him, because of the betrayal, she now was soulless. She didn't remember anything. She didn't respond to anything either. She was merely an empty shell. And it was all his fault. He had failed to protect her.

No! This is Kratos' fault. He's the one who betrayed us! He's the one who led us right into a trap. He was really working for the enemy, just leading them right into Cruxis' hands. Lloyd's hand clenched tightly, blood rushing to his face. He will pay for this. Kratos will pay.

Collete. I will save you. If it's the last thing I do, I will save you.
