"Zabuza-san?" a small voice squeaked through out Momochi Zabuza's house.

Zabuza awoke with a start. He turned over to his side and saw a small boy on the edge of his bed.

"Zabuza-san?" the boy asked again.

"What is it Haku?" Zabuza asked roughly.

"Zabuza-san... I got scared. I had a nightmare. Everyone hated me. Even Daddy. They wanted to kill me," Haku said trembling.

Zabuza sat up. "You are training to become a shinobi. To become my tool. What are nightmares to you now will soon become reality. You need to get used to those things and face them," he explained.

"But-but..."

Zabuza stayed quiet, waiting for the small boy to answer.

"They scare me."

"If you do not want to become my tool, I will be more than happy to put you back on the streets of your village," he replied sternly.

"But, Zabuza-san! I want to become a shinobi! I want to become your tool!" Haku said desperately, his eyes began to brim with salty tears. "I will try to become brave for you! Just don't..." Tears began to fall onto Zabuza's sheets. "Don't leave me alone. I don't wanna go back."

Zabuza nodded. "Fine. Go back to bed. You have more training to do tomorrow."

Haku slid off Zabuza's bed and stepped on the wooden floor. He began to scurry off into his room when he heard Zabuza's voice call him back. "Haku...you may sleep in my room tonight, but only this once."

Haku's face lit up as he ran up to Zabuza's bed and climbed in. Zabuza scooted over so that Haku could have his space.

Zabuza laid back and closed his eyes, before he felt something nudge the small of his back. His eyes snapped open. He looked behind him and saw Haku, fast asleep, huddled as closely as possible near Zabuza. Zabuza couldn't help but smile as he stared down at the boy. He seemed so innocent, so pure. Could he even become a full fledged shinobi even with his blood line?

Zabuza shrugged and not long after that, sleep surrounded him.
