Pacey walked slowly up a hill in the woods before plopping down on the ground to take a few breaths. He had been walking for two-hours on the 10 mile hike into the woods they had planned for the children. A boy walked up to pacey and kicked him in the shin.
"Get up."
"Make me." Pacey replied out of breath looking up at the aggrivated boy.
"Look if we don't hurry up we don't get to see the afternoon movie! We've been at this since 8:00, we should be done already!"
"Look kid, we're almost there anyway i just wanted to take a breather you know before i collapse."
"Whatever most of the kids haven't even gotten this far."
"Where are the rest of the kids?"
"A little further back." The boy says pointing behind him.
"Great just great." Pacey says under his breath.
"I'd go get them if i were you."
"Break's over." Pacey says getting up sweeping the dirt off of his clothes. **********************************
Joey walks up the hill triumphantly with all of the girls following not far behind. Abby walks up the hill breathing hard.
"My god, who's stupid idea was this anyway?" Abby asks not really expecting an answer, since she already knew who had suggested it. She was just upset she had to do anything with the kids.
"Camerons." Joey replies sullenly.
"Oh yeah, the uber skank."
"Well at least we made in time so that we can see the afternoon movie." Said the red head little girl that joey and abby had had the pleasure to meet in the girls bathroom.
"Yeah so its time to go back to our cabins girls."
The girls cheer as they begin going back down the hill.
"You're pretty good with kids joey."Abby says smiling at joey.
"Yeah i guess." Joey mumbles.
"That could come in handy, you know--just in case you get first timers bad luck and actually get preggers."
"Yeah right, i don't think god hates me that much."
"Who knows joey.... accidents happen." Abby says with a fake innocent expression on her face.
Joey just gives her a death stare--she gets the message and begins following behind the kids. Joey follows also. ********************************* Dawson and jack pull into the camp site finally.
"Well dawson we are finally here."
"It's about time."
They both get out of the car. Cameron takes notice of the car and the two boys getting out of it and begins walking towards them.
"Hello." She says simply looking them up and down.
"Hi." Dawson replies waving.
"Hi." Jack says digging his hands into his pockets.
"Well we're full." Cameron says assuming they're there to be counselors considering how young she thought they looked.
"Ok--but we're actually here to sort of visit some friends."Dawson says looking around.
"Oh...what are they're names?"
"Jennifer." Jack says finally piping up.
"Joey." Dawson says knowing there would only be one joey there.
"Ah the the blonde with the spunky cut, and the sassy girl with the boys name."
"I think thats them." Jack says smiling wildly at the thought he was about to see jen again it had been a almost a week since he even talked to her. And it couldn't hurt to see joey again either.
"Hey i think thats Pacey. Dawson says unsure pointing at a boy who was heading inside the main cabin.
Jack puts his hand over his eyes to block out the sun looking at the boy that had caught dawsons attention.
"That is him, who else would try to pull off the hawiian shirt with kahki cargos?"
"Pacey!!" Dawson yells almost giddy. He had been away from his best friend long enough.
Pacey swiftly turns around recognizing the voice. He starts running towards the blonde as if he's ready to hug him but goes for Jack.
"Long time no see man." Pacey says while giving him a quick pat-hug then pulls away.
"And me?" Dawson eyes him skeptically.
"Don't worry man, there's enough Pacey to go around." Pacey says laughing as he gives dawson a hug.
"So whats up pace, how's andie?"
"She's great i'll go get her if you want man."
"No thats ok, we're about to head in anyways." Dawson says grabbing a bag from the car.
"Hey whats that ladys name that was just here a miniute ago ?" Jack asks looking at cameron who was talking to one of the other male counselors.
"Cameron."
"Well could you ask cameron if she could make some room for me? I think i like this whole camp thing already. Jack says smiling wildly again as he sees Jen and Andie coming in their direction.
"No prob Bob." Pacey says walking over to cameron.
"What are you staring at?" Dawson asks looking at jack wondering whats making him smile so brightly.
"Andie!" Jack yells picking andie up and spinning her around.
"Hey Jack!!" Andie screams matching his tone.
"Dawson." Jen says lowering her voice.
"Jennifer." Dawson says looking her up and down.
She breaks and begins laughing. He hugs her longer than to be expected.
"I feel like i haven't seen you in a year." Dawsons says realeasing her.
"Well maybe you shouldn't have*lied* and actually came like you claimed you would.
"I know i feel bad."
"As you should. But hey you're here now--
Jen doesn't finish her sentence when she notices jack is staring at her.
"Oh my gosh Jack!" She runs over and hugs him tightly.
"I was wondering when you'd notice." He says backing away a little.
"Dawson...hey." Andie says lightly as she hugs him.
"Hey andie."They both pull away.
"I'm gone for 2 miniutes and you're already pushing up on my girl Leery, you better watch it."Pacey says jokingly wrapping his arms around andie.
"So what did Cameron say?"
"About what--oh yeah she said she only has room for one."
"One?"Jack asks dissapointed.
"Well thats ok, Jack if you want to counsil here its ok. I didn't really want to counsil anyway i just came to talk to Joey." Dawson says looking at pacey.
"What?" Pacey asks loosining his grip on Andie.
"Where is she?"
"I don't know man i haven't seen her all morning." Pacey says letting Andie go.
"Well you guys finish working this whole thing out, myself and Jen will be attending an afternoon movie with the munchkins." Andie says grabbing jens hand leading her towards the cabin. "Oh congradulations Jack, you'll love it here!" She yells walking into the cabin.
"Thanks...i'm gonna be a counselor."Jack says not really believing this is what he was going to be doing for most of the summer. Better than nothing. He thought to himself.
"Hey Mcphee right?" Cameron asks walking back over to jack.
"Yes."
"Any relation to Andie Mcphee?"
"Yeah i'm her brother."
"Ok let me show you where you'll be bunking."Camerons says picking up Jacks other bag as they walk away.
"So you haven't seen her huh?" Dawson asks Pacey looking at the ground.
"Nope, but i have the feeling she isn't to far away."
"Oh yeah?"
"Yep...if i were you i would go to the right side she's probably in one of the girls cabins. Or she's in the main cabin watching the afternoon movie with the rest of the kids and counselors."
"Where is the "main cabin" supposed to be exactly?" Dawson asks furrowing his eyebrows.
"Right over there Mister Scrunchy face."
"I'm just a little nervous about seeing her pace."
"Well don't be, you've known the girl almost your entire life, don't sweat it."
"Alright lets go."Dawson says, his confidence a little higher than when he came.
They begin walking towards the cabin. They walk up the steps and into the cabin where everyone in the camp is sitting at tables and on the floor watching E.T. Dawson and pacey search around the room to see if they see Joey.
"I don't see her." Dawson says still scanning the room.
"Thats because it's so stinkin dark in here." Pacey says out of whisper as he turns on the lights causing some people to stare.
"What are you doing?" Adam, one of the counselors asks looking at dawson.
"I didn't do it." Dawson says pointing to Pacey."He did".
"Oh i'm so sorry, did i interrupt the movie?"
"Yes" Almost everyone shouts.
"Oops my bad...Joey! Joey"Have you seen my man"Potter! Someone here is looking for you."Pacey yells keeping his hand on the light switch turning it off.
"I'm right here." Joey says bitterly standing up. She was sitting at one of the tables by the tv, next to the children."What is it?" She asks finally looking at Pacey who is standing next to Dawson. At first she doesn't notice until he turned the lights back on.
"Dawson?" She looks as if in shock.
"Hey." He says smiling. He couldn't help it, even though she had hurt him, seeing her again was a definite up for the summer.
"Hey." She replies almost smiling but still staring like a deer in headlights.
"So whats new?" His smile fades. As he begins playing over the things she said to him before she left in his head again.
"Great." She whispers under her breath."Just great." ***************************************** "Hey Jen." Chris says charmingly walking behind Jen who was sitting outside on the porch.
"Hey" She says flirtatiously.
"Never has that greeting sounded so good."
"So why are you out here?"
"Why are you out here?"
"I saw Dawson and Joey getting ready to begin another dramatic diatribe about they're relationship, and i just thought it would be good to turn off the tv for awhile--you know, stay away from the soaps." She says looking up at Chris who was standing over her. He sat down next to her.
"I know what you mean. So what are you doing tonight?"
"Why you wanna do something?" Jen asks flirting again.
"Hell yeah." He says smiling leaning in towards her face.
She stops him."Listen why don't you meet me tonight around 11:00? How's that sound."
"Like music to my ears. See you then." He says winking at her as he gets up and heads back into the cabin.
"See you then."She says calmly her expression changing from smiling to almost disgust."See you then." She says one last time as she draws her name in the dirt with her finger. ****************************************************
