Disclaimer: I don't own Dawson's Creek-and neither do you!

A/N: Thank you everyone for your reviews. There was some misspelling in some of the previous chapters (my bad) hopefully I'll avoid that same fate this time around. I know this is Pacemaker/Joey, but I've yet to figure out all of the loose ends so forgive me for my procrastination. Read on people.

Jack was unpacking all of his things, putting his clothes into the drawer and his toothbrush in the bathroom. He got startled when he heard the screen door open and close. He came out of the bathroom slowly.

"Who's there?" He asks cautiously, fully out of the bathroom now.

"Who's there Jack? You're a horror movies wet dream." Joey says walking into the cabin.

"HA HA what are you doing?" He asks folding a towel.

"Nothing, I was just remembering that I never got the chance to say hello-- I mean I didn't really know you were here.." She says tucking her hair behind her ear coming towards him." It's good to see you Jack." She hugs him holding on to him tightly.

"Is something wrong?"

"No...you loo really good Jack."

"Thank you--are you alright?"

"I'm fine." she pulls away.

"It's good to see you too Joey."

"Listen, do you want to go for a walk and talk or something."

"Sure." *********************

Andie is sound asleep, when a flashlight flickers through the window where Andie and Lena's bunk bead is near. She can barely open her eyes when she tries to look over to where the light is coming from.

"Andie!" A voice whispers." Andiee!! The voice whispers louder almost squealing.

"Huh?" She answers drowsily.

"Open the window--it's me Pacey."

"Pacey?" She asks warily walking over to the window. She opens it and sticks her head out of the window.

"Boo!!". He jumps in her face trying to scare her.

(lazily)"Ahhh--Pacey what are you doing here?" She asks helping him in.

"Well I figured we can pick up where we left off earlier."

"And where is that.?

"When you went off on me for no apparent reason, and not to mention the whole" Where do you see us in five years thing"--I mean what was that about anyway." He asks sitting on the bed picking up her teddy bear. She snatches it.

"Ouch Andie you scratched me."

"I'm sorry Pacey, but you can't be here." She grabs his arm leading him back towards the window.

"Oh no no no, I went through the trouble of disobeying camp laws to come over here and straighten things out between the two of us, and you just want me to leave?" he asks lifting his eyebrows.

"Yes!"

"Ok fine, but I'm not climbing through that window again lady."

"Here's the door." She says whispering.

"Mommy I don't want that one." Lena says obviously sleeptalking.

They both just look at each other sniffling laughter.

"Andie I didn't come over here to upset you, and I definitely didn't come over to get you into trouble or anything. I just wanted to know if you were just stressed out earlier--or you were just mad at me."

"You're right we do need to talk." She says guiding him outside.

"About earlier...or us in general?" He asks lowering his tone beginning to regret bringing it up.

"About us Pacey." She says looking away from him.

"What's wrong Andie?" He asks looking her directly in the eyes grabbing her attention.

"Pacey when I was dealing with--

"That kid."

"Yeah "that kid", I really didn't need you contradicting me."

"I wasn't contradicting you...

"Yes you were. I could have handled it on my own."

"You're absolutely right, from here on out whenever you are in the middle of taking out your anger on some kid I'll just stay out of it." He says teasingly.

Her expression is blank.

"It's called a joke."

"It's called making fun of me." She says angrily."He was wrong."

"Whoa whoa...ok I'm sorry. I get it."

"Do you?"

"Yep."

"So then what am I upset abou?"

"The perverted kid."

"No Pacey, I'm upset about the fact that you always think you have to play hero."

"I have the feeling this isn't just about the perverted kid." He says his voice cracking a little. He thinks he knows where this is going.

"Pacey I just don't see-- Where do you see us in five years?"

"Well, you'll be working at some pristine law firm, and i'll be sittin' at home with the kids."

"You can't be serious."

"I'm joking Andie."

"Thats the point pacey, you're always joking."

"Ok, what is that supposed to mean?"

"Pacey, when i looked at some of the boys--the counselors--not the kids. I was thinking "wow some of them are cute."

"Thats ok, people find themselves attracted to other people all the time." He says nervously.

"I know that pacey, but it made me think."

"Made you think *what* Andie?" He says aggitated, wanting her to get to the point.

"That maybe you and i need too take a break."

"Why?"

"I don't wanna break up with you. I think that since it's summer, we should be having fun." She says sitting down.

"With other people." He tries to finish her sentence.

"I don't know Pacey. I just think that we need a little break."

Pacey's world crumbles once he hears those words, he knows those words never follow through they're meaning. There was a big chance that once they took a BREAK, that they wouldn't get back together because things would be different. He just nodded and hugged her.

"Maybe you're right." He says with a false smile and nods again.

"Alright....goodnight."

"'Night."

She gets up gradually and walks back into the cabin, leaving Pacey sitting on the porch with his head in his hands. **************************

Jack and Joey walk down a trail by Lake Witchita. Joey slowly touches and then grabs Jack's hand. Jack just laughs nervously. He *did* like Joey, but he couldn't help but wonder what she was doing holding his hand.

"So what are you doing here Jack?" Joey asks biting her lip.

"I--I was just going to bring Dawson up here, but once I saw everyone I just couldn't help it. Plus I love kids, the pay isn't much but getting paid to basically baby-sit for the ending half of the summer didn't sound so bad."

"Not to mention you didn't have anything better to do." She says smiling.

"Yeah." They both laugh but it subsides when Jack notices how deep Joey is staring at him. She bashfully looks downward at her feet. "Yeah." She sighs.

"So...Bessie let you--

"Bessie didn't *let* me do anything, it was my choice."

"Right."

"She said I could go, because she figured she could live with out me for four weeks. I warned her she couldn't." She says joking.

"And is she?"

"Yeah she's holding up pretty well, I called her yesterday."

"That's good. I really hope that everything starts looking up for the Potter sisters, especially since The Ice House is no longer with us." Joey just looks away at the lake as if she didn't even hear what he said. The thought of all the problems that were going to come with the icehouse burning down made her cringe. "The insurance for one thing "She thought to herself, but her thoughts were interrupted by Jack.

"So you and Dawson all squared away?" He asks following her gaze.

"Huh? Oh yeah, everything's cool now."

"Well that's good." He says almost robotically.

"Mmm mmm." They both are looking everywhere but each other.

"Yep."

"Why is it so chilly in the summer?" She asks hugging herself.

"Maybe you should pull your hat down a tad more." He says referring to the hat she was wearing. He reaches over to adjust her hat and snatches it off, he starts running.

"Jack!"

"Come and get it!" He yells laughing.

She runs after him until she finally catches up to him. She knocks him down onto the ground, and climbs on top of him and snatches the hat back. They continue laughing so loud that Joey covers his mouth with her hand.

"Shh...people are trying to sleep, have some respect." He just continues laughing at her sarcasm.

He gently pushes her hand away from his mouth. He cups her chin in his hand, pulling her to him and finally kissing her. She pulls away when she hears some giggling.

"What, what is it?" He asks out of breath.

"Do you hear that?"

"Hear what?"

She ignores his question and gets up. She Begins walking further down the trail, there are some trees in the way, she just moves past them and stops. Jack follows her gaze again, this time it's on Jen who is laying on the ground with her dress unbuttoned and Chris between her legs.

"Oh my god." She whispers to herself. Jack coughs purposely.

"What--what who was that?" Jen asks sitting up.

"What was who?" Chris asks still kissing her neck.

Jen scans around until she sees Joey and Jack standing there stunned.

"Them." She points.

Chris stops and looks over to where Jen is looking, he just rolls his eyes.

"Great. You perverts wanna join or something?" He asks irritated.

"No thank you." Joey says acrimoniously walking away. Jack rolls his eyes and follows.

"Let me guess...

"Yeah." she finishes getting up buttoning up her clothes.

"You're going to let them ruin the mood."

"I'd say them staring for god knows how long officially killed the mood."

"You're right. But we should hurry up and get this over with I mean--Abby said--

"What did Abby say?" She asks angered.

"I know about the little bet ok. Why don't we just get this over with so that you can win, and I well I can sew some oats."

"Abby."

"Abby." He repeats mockingly.

"You know what I'm sorry Chris, but I don't think this going to work."

"Are you serious?" He asks upset he isn't getting any, picking up his shirt.

"Like you wouldn't believe." She says puffing up.

"Alright then...your loss."

She just looks defeated and walks away.

"Bye." He whispers feeling guilty. Closing his eyes tightly, wishing he hadn't said anything. **************************
