Disclaimer: I don't own Dawson's Creek. Live it, love it, breath that concept.

All of the kids and counselors met up outside far from the camp in this massive meadow full of flowers and weeds. It was so ideal it could've been on a post card. All of the kids sat on plastic chairs the counselors had put out for them to sit on. All of the counselors stood in a straight line beside Cameron who was at the end on the right. All of the little girls were huddled together giggling and whispering to each other looking at Joey, Jen, and Abby. Joey just looked on in confusion, Jen wasn't paying any attention she was too busy thinking about the night before. Abby rolled her eyes.

"Alright listen up guys." Cameron says grabbing they're attention. "Today, we are going to try what I like to call, bug in a jar."

Everyone just looks on in confusion.

"Ok let me explain, today I am going to give each of you a jar, then you're all going to search around this here *beautiful* meadow to find a bug. That's right *A* bug--of any sorts, all you have to do is successfully catch the bug in the jar that we give you and bring it back to the main cabin safe, sound, and alive so that we can study it. If you all succeed, instead of making you all help build the campfire for tonight you can all go home and get whatever you're going to wear to The Summer Dance earlier than planned ok?"

They all look pleased.

"Abby could you kindly go get the jars."

"What?" She asks suddenly looking up from filing her nails.

"Could you go get the jars so the children can start looking for the fucking bugs already?" She asks irritated.

Everyone looks shocked. Cameron just paints on a fake smile.

"I'm sorry guys Cammy didn't get enough sleep last night." She says apologetically to the kids.

"Let it out sister!" Abby says laughing that the pretty blonde had slipped up.

"Get the jars Abby." Pacey says not impressed.

"Shut up dickhead, nobody asked for your opinion."

"Screw it-- I'll get the goddamn jars." He says walking away."

"What the hell is his problem?" She asks rolling her eyes.

"I don't know and I don't care, all I know is that if it gets any hotter out here I'm gonna drop like a dead deer." Cameron says wiping the sweat from her fore head.

Chris walks over to Jen, he gets near her ear and whispers.

"We need to talk." He says looking at her sympathetically.

"About what?" She asks as if oblivious to what was said and done the night before.

"Look I'm sorry Jen, I really do like you ok? I mean--when Abby told me--

"What exactly *did* Abby tell you?" "She told me that you and the girls made a bet to lose your virginity before the summer's up. Hey i don't mind, I mean--personally I'm honored." He says leaning in closer to her ear.

"Look Chris." She says smiling.

"Hmm?"

"Mmm...yeah so look, this whole thing isn't going to work alright? I changed my mind, I'm telling Abby that the bet is off as of today."

"It is?"

"It is."

"You sure?"

"Positive."

"Alright your los--

"Yeah I know, my loss right?"

"That's right." He says walking away disenchanted.

Jen just sighs. Although she is a little glad that she was about to go ahead and call off the bet. She didn't really care anymore, she had been at the camp for almost two weeks. She was only going to be there for two more weeks, and she thought Chris was... interesting, but not first time material. But then again she doesn't really care right? Why don't I just go on ahead and get it over with. She thought to herself. But not with Chris...maybe...Jack? She thought to herself again. I would never take advantage like that. She thought again. But it's one hell of an option. She thought to herself again. Abby shook her thoughts when she tapped her shoulder.

"Jen...earth to Jen?"

"What?"

"Well....how did it go with Chris?"

"Not so good--how come you told him about the bet?"

"Well I thought that if I told him it would speed up the process a little."

"Whatever, look the bets off."

"What?!"

"It's off."

"Oh no it isn't."

"Oh yes it is. You don't tell me what to do alright?"

"Fine then. It's off I'll tell the rest of the girls."

Jen just looks on content.

"Its just a damn shame though."

"What is?" She asks in a Ok-I'll-bite tone.

"You're going to let that teletubbie win."

"How does she win."

"Because you're giving up dummy. God, all of that money going to that skank, well I hope you're happy." She says walking away. She turns back around. "You know what? I guess Joey was right, you couldn't even pull Chris"I'm too sexy" Wolfe. Let alone someone else."

"What did Joey say?"

"Just that the only way you were going to get some, was if you paid someone."

"She did not."

"Oh yes she did girl. Well happy camping.

"Wait Abby, you know what? Screw it, the bet's still on."

"Oh yeah?"

"Yeah."

"Ok." She turns back around." Hey what's the big deal...everybody's doing it."

"I get it peer pressure right?"

"Later Jen." Abby says smiling, she'd won. *******************

Joey walks over to Jack who is talking to Adam.

"Jack can I have a minute?"

"Sure what's up?"

"About last night--

"I don't like the sound of that." He says nervously.

"No--no It's ok, it was fun hanging out with you."

"And the kiss?"

They begin walking away from where everyone can see them.

"Well, the kiss was definitely a high light." She says grinning.

(chuckles)" Definitely." He quotes looking at his fingers, suddenly they became interesting.

They just stand there smiling at each other coyly as if they had magically retracted to the first grade. Jimmy, Lena, and Pacey make they're way back with jars in hand.

"I found out that there were too many jars for one person to carry." Pacey says sitting the jars down on a table that had a lot of supplies on it.

"It's fine, just start handing them out so that we can get this party started." Cameron says alleviating a little.

All of the counselors begin handing out the jars randomly. Joey and Jack Picks up the last two jars and hands them out.

"Pssst...Joey." Someone Whispers. Joey doesn't hear. "Joeyyy." The small voice whispers again. This time Joey turns around to see who's calling her. It's none other than the red head girl Christy.

"Christy right?" She questions walking over to the girl.

"Right, that's so sweet you remembered."

"What do you want?"

"I *want* my money."

"What, money?"

"The money that I shelled out for that bet you guys made."

Joey tilts her head searching her mind for the memory.* Oh yeah* She thinks to herself.

"How much did you put in?"

"20 dollars."

"Well--

"Who won?"

"No one, not yet."

"Well my money is still on Jen."

Joey just narrowed her eyes and walked away. ***************************

All of the kids ran all over the meadow searching for bugs. They are all laughing and really having fun just running around so freely. Andie has at least four kids with her. She looks behind her and sees Pacey not far behind her, she starts guiding the kids toward a completely different direction. Pacey doesn't miss the snub. He rolls his eyes and keeps helping the kids find they're bugs. One is on his back, he lets him down to get catch a bee off a flower. He takes the jar from him and catches it himself. The boy smiles and takes the jar back.

"I gotta get back to the cabin so that they can study my bug!" He exclaims running back to the camp.

"Catch me one Pacey!". One of the younger boys holler out.

"Wait a minute, let Uncle Pacey take a little break ok." He says heading over toward a tree where Joey is sitting with at least five girls sitting around her playing in her hair.

"You guys should really be trying to find those bugs." Joey says removing Christy's hand from her hair.

"Yeah right, if I wanted to catch bugs I would've asked one of these morons to the summer dance." Christy says laughing.

"And besides, we're having fun here with you." One of the other girls says braiding Joey's hair into one.

"Well fun is over, I want you all to be able to get ready for that dance instead of slaving over building some wood pile. So get going I'll be over with you all in a minute ok?"

"Fine." Christy says gradually. "Lets rock and roll girls." She says grabbing one of the girls' hands. They all get up and starts looking for the bugs.

"Nicely done Potter." Pacey says sitting beside her.

"I try."

A silence passes through, but it isn't because they have nothing to say, they're just waiting for the other to pipe up. Pacey smiles and looks at Joey.

"Long time no see."

"Not really I just saw you yesterday evening." She says dully unbraiding her hair.

"Oh yeah." He laughs looking at the ground.

"Is something wrong?" She asks flipping her hair.

"How'd you guess?"

"I can tell happy-go-lucky Pacey, from depressed Pacey. Kind of goes with the more fortunate side of kind of knowing you. "

He just holds his head down.

"Pacey? What is it."

"Andie broke up with me."

"Why?" She asks slowly, wincing at the pain she sees on his face.

"I think she wants to see other people."

*bitch* She thinks to herself but doesn't say a word. She knows right now there is probably nothing she can say to make him feel better. She pauses for a minute and them peps up.

"Come on."

"Come on where?"

"Somewhere. Just get up." She says holding her hand out to him. He accepts and gets up, she holds on to his hand and begins running. *************************

Jen walks up to Jack who is by himself standing at the supplies table eating a hot dog.

"Jack?"

"Hey." He says smiling from ear to ear.

"I see you brushed this morning." She says referring to his bright smile. *and what a beautiful smile it was* she thought. "Yep." He says finishing off his hot dog.

"Can we talk?"

"Of course." He motions fro them to start walking.

"Jack, I did something really...pointless, and stupid."

"Not words that usually pop up in your vocabulary. What happened?"

"Me and the other girl counselors--with an exception of a 12 year old little girl, made a bet."

"What kind of bet?"

"A bet to see who loses they're virginity first."

"What kind of bet is that?"

"The kind where I have to lose it before the summer vacation is up."

"Why would you even participate in something like that?"

"I don't know, I guess I did...I don't know why I agreed but I did."

"So now what?"

"Well Chris--

"Oh yeah that would explain the whole you and Chris trying to (coughs) in the woods last night."

"Yeah."

"So...are you really going to go through with it?"

"I guess I am. I would gladly appreciate the money though."

"Hmm...boy I can't even begin to explain the shock on our face when we saw you guys."

"Our?"

"Joey. The poor girls probably scarred for life now." He says laughing.

"Joey's in on it to you know."

"How do you mean?"

"Well, she's my component."

"Are you serious?"

"Very."

Jack just looks down at the ground feeling a little hurt and confused. *Is this why she's been hanging out with me...to win some stupid bet?* He asked himself. "What.... what is it? She asks noticing his sudden sadness.

"Nothing....Chris Wolfe?" He asks changing the subject.

(laughs)" Yeah I know right? I guess I'd better go help the midgets on they're quest for a better night." She says already walking away.

"It's good seeing you Lindley."

"Isn't it always?" She says grinning.

Jack just stands there, beginning to feel the dire anticipation to talk to Joey and get some answers. ************************************************************
