Disclaimer: I don't own Dawson's Creek: therefore it doesn't belong to me
got it!
A/N: Well this is the thirteenth installment of Witchita Creek. It's been a while since my last update. (sighs) We're nearing the end party people, but hey they'll always be the memories. Thank you Kelc for the reminder, and all else for review. Now to put it simply--Read On.
A couple weeks had passed, and time was up for the creeksters and the rest of capesides youth to head home. But time wasn't quite up for Jen and Joey. Both had decided to stay for the last three weeks to try--and for the last time-- win the bet. Though both of them knew there was something strange about the other staying they both knew why. The bet was still very much alive and Jen nor Joey, had no desire to lose. Joey was still developing a relationship with Pacey that by the day seemed to take her mind off the whole thing. But only when he held her close to him, was she reminded of the deed that had yet to be done. Meanwhile Jen had her eye on her own prize. Jason Sr. was looking pretty good, and to Jen he seemed perfect. She fell for the adorable male specimen the first time she laid eyes on him. Both Jen and Joey were feeding into classic peer pressure, but they didn't seem to mind. Jen just bided her time, while Joey was waiting to wake up from the infuriating nightmare that had became her summer. Pacey had become her breath of fresh air. Everyday he found new ways for them to have fun and be together. Joey was admittedly having fun even through the circumstances. No one knew of their secret relationship but them. And that's the way they planned to keep it.
Jen was walking up to the main cabin to get more boards for the archery activity they'd planned for the day. She slowed down her trot up the steps when she spotted Jason standing by the door chatting it up with Cameron. When Andie tapped Cameron on the shoulder signaling her to come help with one of the kids who were acting out of order and Cameron followed, Jne saw a golden opportunity to approach the handsome gentleman.
"Hi." She said waving at him passively.
"Hey." He said flashing a charming smile.
"Whatcha up to?"
"Just waiting for the guys to get here so we can get going."
"Oh yeah? Where are you all heading today." Jen asked as if interested.
"We're going out to the lake to prepare for the swim test the second group of kids are going to be taking. You know, the ones that just got in yesterday?"
"Oh, yeah. So...not that it's any of my business or anything but how old are you?"
"Why how old do I look?" Jason asked pretending to be offended.
"No you don't look old or anything... as--as a matter a fact you seem pretty young. Which is why I asked." Jen managed to ramble out.
"I'm 24." He answered simply.
"Oh, you know you look it." She said shaking her head up and down like a bobble head. Jen felt herself becoming nervous. Which was something she hardly felt when it came to guys.
"You're cute Jen." He replied chuckling delightfully.
"So are you." She said blushing furiously.
"Jen." Cameron began, walking up to the blonde." Aren't you supposed to be helping get the archery boards put up?" Cameron asked slightly bitter.
"Oh right, I forgot... sorry. I'll just get to it." She replied walking into the cabin.
"What were you guys talking about?" Cameron asked Jason curiously.
"Nothin."
"Sure."
Jen walked back out of the cabin boards in hand.
"It was nice talking to you Jason." Jen said passing the two figures.
"It was nice talking to you to Jen." Jason responded happily as Jen disappeared from their presence. The day was hotter than usual. It had been raining again all week, and it cause some major heat backfire. Most of the archery boards had been set up as planned there were few left to prop up. Joey and Andie were the only ones left to work. Abby and Buffy were sitting under an oak tree talking after they'd finished their share of the work. Lena had fallen asleep under another tree, and Jen was till no where to be found.
"I'm really beginning to hate this job." Andie said agitated wiping sweat from her forehead.
"Tell me about it." Joey whispered.
"And where is Jen?" Andie asked looking around.
"I don't know." Joey replied exasperated.
Before Joey could roll her eyes Jen came running with board in hand. She immediately got to work.
"There she is." Joey said monotonously.
"And where were you?" Andie asked suspiciously.
"Nowhere." Jen answered matching Joey's previous tone.
Pacey ran up behind Joey and put his hands over her eyes.
"Guess who." He whispered sensually.
"I haven't a clue." She said imitating him. "Why don't you show me?"
Pacey smiled giddily. She was playing along.
"Come here." He said turning her around and wrapping his arms around her tightly.
"Well since you asked." She replies laughing and moving in for a kiss. But stopped suddenly when she realized her surroundings.
"Pacey..." She whispered looking at Andie.
"Right." He coughed.
Abby and Buffy looked on in awe, while Jen just looked confused. Andie didn't notice the event because her back was turned in a different direction. Pacey backed off hesitantly.
"I want to see you." He whipered to Joey backing away.
"When?"
"Tonight at the boathouse. I have something planned okay?"
"Okay." She shook her head finally ending their embrace.
"Bye."
"Bye."
And with that Pacey went back to where he came from, leaving Joey with some serious explaining to do.
