Its kind of angsty-fluff, because I enjoy confsuing you so.

Thunder

Remus looked out the castle's windows and saw a flash of light. He slowly counted out 3 seconds until he heard the clap of thunder. Far off in the distance he could hear a muffled cry and he turned from the window, the sound of his movement covered by the pouring rain outside the castle's walls.

A storm had started up an hour after curfew and many of the first and second years had started waking up frightened by the noise. The professors had each been instructed to go around the dorms and calm the students so that they and their roommates could get some sleep.

Neither the noise nor the light bothered the werewolf. He found he rather enjoyed nature's beauty, as long as it wasn't taking the form of a full moon.

Handling the student's fears was fine at first, but as the storm passed into its third hour the Defense Professor was finding himself quite annoyed and tired because of the students. Seeing the children upset was also beginning to remind him too much of his own time as a student and he simply wanted to go back to bed before more memories came back to him.

One of the memories was of his 1st year, so many students had been wakened by a storm one night that Dumbledore had asked the prefects along with the teachers to calm the students in their dorms because their were so many.

Remus himself could sleep through the storm but he heard muffled crying from across the room. He moved the curtains aside to see Sirius tossing and turning. Remus tried to calm the taller boy but was failing. Finally he gave up and climbed into the other boy's bed to grab a hold of his friend to still him. Sirius instantly calmed at the contact with the smaller boy so Remus stayed the night in his friends bed.

In the morning Remus had snuck out of the bed before Sirius woke but after that night the werewolf found he was the only one who could calm the taller boy during nightmares or storms.

The professor shook his head at the memory and blinked back a tear. Hearing no more students he climbed the stairs to his own room and crawled into bed.

He let out a strangled cry and softly wished for his friend.

"Sirius....."
