Disclimer: Not J.K. Simple enough.
Claimer: I own the idea.
A Few Hours Too Late
I walked into the kitchen where Harry and Hermione were just making me a cup of tea. "And how is the happy couple?" I asked them.
"Harry, are we okay?" Hermione asked her fiancé jokingly. A running joke. I told them they were soon to be one person. That they shared a brain.
"I think we're okay. . ." Harry answered, winking at Hermione. He could have been winking at me. We could be joking about sharing a brain. But I guess I lost that chance.
"It's a shame you and Neville broke up," Hermione said absent-mindedly as she poured the milk.
"I guess he thought it just wasn't working out," I lied. She could never know that I'd broken up with Neville. I wanted to tell her, I really did. I guess she could never know. . . but it would make such a great conversation:
"Oh, by the way Hermione, I broke up with Neville. Not the other way round."
"Oh, why?"
"Because I love your fiancé, Harry."
No. It's better to keep these feelings to myself. Harry gave Hermione a wide smile as she sat down opposite me at the small round table. He placed his hands at the back of his chair. That smile could have been mine once. . .
"So, are you two going shopping today then?" he asked, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"We're wedding dress bound!" I exclaimed happily. "Oh, and bridesmaid dresses." Hermione nodded.
"I'm not sure what colour we're going for yet. . . but we'll work it out later," she told me. I was the one to nod this time. They're wedding would be perfect. They had put so much time into planning it, I didn't think they had much time for being together. But it made no difference. Wherever they were, how ever far apart, they were always together.
"Who's your best man Harry?" I asked him, looking straight into those green eyes. I would have stared into those emerald eyes daily given the chance. I hoped Hermione didn't waste the privilege.
"Ron," he told me. "Your brother didn't tell you?"
"He's been busy at the Ministry. I think your wedding's going to be his first day off in weeks."
"Yeah. . . but he has a lot to prove, being the new Minister of Magic. . . he's doing a good job." I nodded in agreement. "And by the way Ginny, could you give these invites to Bill and Charlie for me? I would have sent them myself, but Hermione's parents are somewhere in the world." He laughed. I loved that laugh.
"The owl has a long way to travel."
"Sure," I replied as he handed the invitations to me.
"Well Gin, ready to go?" Hermione asked.
"Yup!"
Yes. This was how it was going to be. Harry and Hermione. Hermione and Harry. I wouldn't try and break them up. They were perfect. I suppose I was just a few hours too late. Things could have been different. . . but I'm better off not knowing. It's right about time to move on. I just hope Neville could forgive me. . .
