Lover del Dragon: Here it is!
SuperHiperChit: Shut up Erin.

Most animal blood is poisonous to Mynee and those that aren't, don't have enough nutrients to keep her alive for long. Dumbledore really doesn't know what to do yet. You'll get an answer to the 'what they gonna do' question that's been floating around in the upcoming chapters. Part of it is settled in the end of this one.

Evig Sol, Chapter Eight
.
Care of Magical Creatures had started and the class was standing around Hagrid with the exception of Mynee who had
been pushed out of the tight semi-circle and forced to stand by herself. Her arms were wrapped around her belly and abdomen,
hugging herself tightly. Potter and Weasley were standing a few feet in front of her and she was staring darkly at the backs of
their heads. They were paying an obscene amount of attention to whatever creature Hagrid was spouting on about. They had
never paid that much attention to her when she had been on the verge of breaking the current riddle or mystery. A soft snort
came from her nose and she hugged herself tighter. They had never seen her as anything more then a homework pass and a
highway to steal all the glory. Her eyes grew unfocused, the cinnamon hues staring off into nowhere. She snapped out of her
momentary daze when she heard Hagrid say something important.
"...violent towards Vampires. They are particularly affectionate too..." He did not finish his sentence because a large animal
bowled through the small crowd. The pure black creature ran right at her, its front paws hitting her in the chest and knocking her
flat on her back. Mynee let out a shriek as the wind was knocked out of her. She looked up into the face of a shaggy animal that
strongly resembled a dog. It had the pointy, fluff tipped ears of a lynx and the massive, finely veined wings of a bat. The
doglike creature covered her face in slobbery kisses, its tail wagging like there was no tomorrow. She put her hands on its chest
to push it off and then froze when a voice that was not her own intruded upon the private confines of her mind.
'Hi, hi, hi, hi, hi!!!!' The voice sounded extremely happy and hyper, like it had just found a life long friend.
She nervously projected her thoughts toward the dog creature, wondering if it could understand her. 'Um, hi? I don't mean to
rude or anything, but why are you talking to me and what the hell are you?'
'I'm a thupalp! We can talk because I'm your...your...familiar!'
'Thupalp? Familiar? I thought only Vampires had familiars...My race is supposed to be completely alone...'
The thupalp did not have time to respond because Hagrid had come up and pulled it off of her. He did not offer a hand up to
her and simply pulled it away. Mynee pushed herself up onto her knees as she took in several deep breathes, her chest aching
slightly. She raised her eyes from the ground and stared at the thupalp, confusion simmering in her reddish hues. It stared right
back at her, a canine like smirk lifting up the corners of its mouth. Hagrid started talking about it again and she shut her eyes for
a moment, her insatiable hunger for knowledge getting the better of her as she started projecting her thoughts.
'What is a thupalp?'
'My kind was created many hundreds of years ago by a lonely Vampyre. I am a hybrid of a vampire bat and some big shaggy
dog.'
'Okay, why are you my familiar? Don't I have to create my familiar using some elaborate magic or something?'
'Mortals and Vampires do, but you do not.'
'Aren't I bloody special...? Umm...Do you have a name? A gender?"
'I have no name because I was alone. My master or mistress would give me a name...Gender?'
'Are you a boy or a girl?'
'Boy. Can we be best friends forever and ever and ever? What's your name?'
'Err...Hermione?'
'Hermayonaise?'
She heaved a loud mental sigh. 'No one ever gets my name right. Just call me Mynee and we'll leave it at that.'
'But I want to get your name right...'
Mynee did not reply and wrapped her arms around her abdomen again. The class was almost over and the thupalp was staring
at her longingly. She sighed quietly and ran a hand slowly through her hair. She wanted to get to the library so she could
research her kind. She did not know enough about the species she had entered and the feelings of being so ignorant left the
after taste of extreme anger on her tongue. Within moments the class was over and just as she was heading up to the castle, a
forlorn voice whispered softly in the archives of her mind.
'You'll come back and see me, won't you? It's awfully lonely living in the forest...'
She sighed briefly. 'Of course I'll come and visit you, but first, you need a name.' She thought for a moment and that peculiar
language she somehow spoke fluently popped to mind.
'Evig, Sol how about Evig Sol?'
'What does it mean?'
'Eternal sun. I think it is a lovely name.'
'If you like it, I like it! When will you come see me?'
'Maybe later tonight Evi, I need to look some things in the library.'
'Who is Evi?'
'You are.'
'No, you said I was Evig Sol.'
'Evi is a nickname. Your full name is too much of a tongue full to say at one time. You don't mind, do you?'
'No, come soon!'
Evi's voice left her head and she shook it slowly to rid the feeling that something had been taken away from her. She shivered
visibly and started walking again. She did not know that Hagrid had watched her freeze suddenly for a few minutes then keep
walking. Could this thupalp be Hermione's familiar? He himself did not believe that it would be possible. In the few books he
had ever picked up in his life about Vampires, he had learnt that a Vampire had to go through an extensive summoning process.
He wrapped his beefy hand around the thupalp's neck and led it in the direction of the forest. There was a small enclosure for it
just beyond the tree line. Hagrid put the iron bands around its wings to keep it from flying away. He pushed it into the pen and
shut the gate behind it. Just as he was turning away, he could have sworn he heard a pitiful voice echoing in his head, asking
him to set something free. He shook his head and strode towards the castle, looking forward to dinner.
After dinner, Mynee bee lined for the library. She had homework, but what did it matter? She had done all of the exercises
in her books over the holiday so she could escape... She would only have to the essays assigned by Snape in Potions. She
adjusted the strap on her shoulder and yelped when somebody stepped suddenly right out in front of her, blocking her path.
She did not have time to stop and she ran right into the solid mass. She winced inwardly at the excruciating stab of pain that
laced up her back from her tailbone. Her bag flew off of her shoulder and her books spilled all across the hall. She lifted her
face from the feet and her now reddish hues were glaring angrily up into a pair of silvery eyes. Draco Dorian Malfoy looked
down at her with his customary smirk alight on his handsome face.
"You really should be more careful where you are going mudblood. You almost touched me; I would have had to burn these
clothes if that happened."
Mynee's angry look changed quickly to pure outrage as she pushed herself up onto her feet. She balled her hands up into fists
at her sides, her thick hair frizzing about her face like an uncontrollable halo.
How dare you tell me to be careful Malfoy when you intentionally stepped into my path?!" Her voice shook with barely
contained fury.
He laughed in her face and walked away, calling over his shoulder. "Hope you don't forget our prefect duties."
"Our? What the hell do you mean our?"
"I'm going to go to bed soon, so that means I'm not going to be doing my rounds. So you'll get the joy of doing them." And then
he had gone around a corner and his voice disappeared.
Her nails had pierced her flesh and drawn blood, the sluggish black liquid dripping down her hands. When it touched the floor,
the stone sizzled as her mildly acidic blood greedily ate at it.
Soon after Mynee's encounter with Malfoy, she was up in the library trying fruitlessly to find some kind of tome about her
kind. For the fifth time she took the same book off the shelf and flipped through it, looking in vain. Was there nothing about
Vampyres in the entire room of books? It seemed preposterous that that would be true, but what if only a small bit of information
was know about her race? Would not that be the reason for the sad lacking of books? She sighed quietly and put the volume
back onto its respectful place. There was no information in the Hogwarts library that would help her this time. She may never
know anything more then the few facts from the book in her trunk about her species. But, she decided, a few facts were better
then none. Mynee left the row of books and headed back to the table she had left her bag on. She knew she should probably
start doing her rounds now, but she thought it stupid now to patrol the halls when anyone lurking about knew that they were not
supposed to be out. It was completely pointless. She left the library and walked slowly through the school. At eight o'clock at
night, the hallways were pleasingly peaceful, bereft of the normal herds of screeching children. Mynee slipped out of the
massive front doors of Hogwarts and quietly ran across the large stretch of soft grass to the Forbidden Forest's edge. She did
not know why she felt the need to fulfill her promise the thupalp; she rarely ever did what she said she would. At least, she had
not since...since, well not in almost a year. Just as she was passing Hagrid's hut, his front door opened and he stuck his large
head out. She instantly froze, her eyes following his every move. Even though she was a prefect, she was not supposed to be
out of the castle after darkness had touched the earth. Hagrid's brow furrowed for a moment when he did not see anything and
then slowly withdrew back into his house. Mynee took a nonessential breath and let it out softly. She turned around and crept
into the tree line. Her eyes gleamed with an iridescent shine like a cat's in the dark as her pupils sought any light what so ever.
In front of her she saw a small wooden pen with its occupants lying curled in a tight, but large, ball in the far corner of the
enclosure. She hurried forward and vaulted over the wooden planks. The moment her Doc. Marten clad feet touched the springy,
mossy ground, the animal's head lifted and a joyous voice echoed in her head.
'Mynee? Did you come back like you promised?'
'Oh course I did Evi, I promised you I would.'
'No one ever does as they promise...'
'That's horrible. Listen, if I make you a promise I won't break it.'
'Really? You promise?'
'I promise Evi.'
A pleased silence filled her mind and she walked forward towards Evi. Horror filled her when she saw the cruel metal bands
around his wings, clamping them shut.
'Who did this to you Evi? Who?'
'The big man with shaggy hair. He doesn't want me to fly away, but I don't like being caged like this...It frightens me.'
'I can't believe Hagrid would do that! He has always seemed so affectionate towards animals, especially the big ones like you.
I can't stand seeing you all penned up like a wild animal.'
'But I am a wild animal...'
'Shush, that's not the point.'
Mynee's fingers found the iron bands and quickly undid them, letting them fall with audible thunks to the ground. Evi stretched
his wings slowly, soft cracking audible in the small clearing as the bones stretched. She smiled kindly to him and reached out
to scratch his head. He came towards her much like a normal dog would and sniffed her hand before letting it continue on to
his head. Her smile changed to one of joy as her fingers touched the surprisingly silky warmth of his fur. He pulled his head
away and covered her hand with doggy kisses, a soft happily growl coming from his throat.
'I don't understand how Hagrid could say your kind could be violent, you're positively wonderful.' Mynee decided not to
acknowledge the part of her mind that was telling her she sounded like the simpering girls up at the school.
'We are only nice to Vampyres. We can't abide by anyone else, their blood or something.'
'Why weren't you attacking the humans then?'
'Because you were there.'
'What? Why would my presence have any affect on that?'
'Because I might have upset you and then you'd go away and I'd be all alone again and that'd be really, really bad because I'm
supposed to be your familiar and I don't want you to go away because you're really, really nice to me!'
'Calm down Evi, I'm not going to leave you.'
She smiled warmly to him and pulled away slowly. She pushed her bag off her shoulder and dropped to her knees then her bum.
Evi sprawled out beside her, his head resting on her lap.
'Mynee?'
'Yes Evi?'
'Are you my mistress?'
'Your mistress? What do you mean?'
'You gave me my name and you promised me you wouldn't break any promise...That makes you my mistress, right?'
Mynee did not answer him immediately and just scratched his chin. She was not sure if she wanted a familiar. She knew that if
she consented to his question she would always have a friend, no matter what happened, she would never be alone. But then,
she would have to worry about his well being and would cry her heart out if anything happened to him. She made her decision
in a heartbeat. The good comes with the bad.
'Of course that makes me your mistress Evi. You'll never be alone again.'
Several hours later when it drew close to ten thirty, Mynee knew it was time to depart her familiar's presence and return to
the formidable stone castle. With a final, affectionate caress to Evi's head, she stood up. The thupalp immediately started
protesting loudly in her head, begging her to stay with him.
'Please don't leave me Mistress! I don't want to be alone! The bad things come out when I'm alone.'
'You know you don't have to call me that. I'm sorry I can not take you with me, but if I try, someone will see you and then you
might be taken away from me. You'd be completely alone again if that happened.'
'No one can take me away from you Mistress, it is impossible.'
Mynee could not answer that question and simply looked at him with sad eyes. 'I do not want to leave you here, but there is no
other option.'
His eyes took on a saddened shine, but a faint glimmer of hope sparkled in his dark hues. 'You'll come visit me tomorrow? With
food?'
'Of course Evi, I'll visit you everyday until I can't take you far, far away from her. That I promise to you.'
He licked her hand tenderly for a moment then backed away, stretching his freed wings. 'I won't fly away either. I now have
something to keep me tethered to this place.'
'Thank you, having a friend makes my life seem less dull.'
With that, she stroked his head a final time then left the small enclosure, her heart thumping painfully. She had a slight idea that
this is what it felt like to abandon a child on a slightly less painful degree, for she would be coming back and was not forsaking
her familiar. Despite that, she still felt guilty at leaving Evi all alone in the Forbidden Forest, even if he was on the outskirts of
such a dark place. Mynee ran a hand absently through her russet tresses and took a step away from the miserably keening
animal behind her. Why did he have to make it so hard?
'Evi, I know you don't want to be alone and Goddess knows I don't want to leave you, but I have too!'
'I'm sorry Mistress...'
'Mynee!'
'S-Sorry...'
'You don't have to apologize, you just don't know better. I'll see you tomorrow, okay?'
'Okay...' His voice was lonely and forlorn as he curled up in a tight ball and apparently fell asleep.
She sighed softly and walked slowly towards the tree line. A figure was crouched in a massive oak above her, watching her
with unblinking luminescent eyes. It silently dropped from the tree and hunkered down the moment its feet touched the ground.
It crept towards her slowly moving form and just as a sharply clawed hand reached for her shoulder; she whipped around, a
glimmer of fear on her face. Mynee came face to face with a face so pale it was nearly translucent and the majority of the veins
in its cheeks were clearly visible. Black eyes bore into her cinnamon hues as its scratchy voice assaulted her.
"This is unacceptable! No scum like you should even consider having a familiar as loyal as the Harana Thupalp!"
One of her brows rose slowly, creeping up to her hairline. There was something strangely familiar about this creature's voice,
much like a thing one would hear in a dream.
'What? Never mind, I'm not going to even go there. Listen, what do you think you are that you can just march up onto my castle
and start calling me names?"
"Your castle? Since when did any Vampyre own a castle? For as long as I have known, your pitiful kind has only existed in
pitiful holes."
"Yeah it's my castle. Considering I'm the only Vampyre here, it's my castle which means you better get your ass of my land! And
who died and named you king of all creation? You're just a pale faced Vampire who has to stalk Vampyres on their own
territory."
The Vampire's face contorted with fury and he raised his hand to strike her. Mynee unconsciously cowered, her instincts from
being beaten kicking in. She raised her hands in a protective gesture, shielding her face from his oncoming blows. At least, the
blows that would have come if a menacing growl had not come from behind them. Evi had forsaken his pen and was standing a
few feet behind the Vampire, his long sharp canines glistening in a few rays of moonlight looking like rays of liquefied pearls as
it gleamed softly. The Vampire's face filled with fear at the snarling familiar and looked in terror between it and her. He shook
his head quickly, muttered something that sounded distinctly like "He can take care of his problems himself; I'm not doing this
anymore." And he simply blinked out like he had apparated, except the customary pop of air was gone. Mynee shook a little bit
and walked towards her thupalp. She dropped to her knees in front of him and wrapped her arms around his neck. It was
considerably higher then a full sized Great Dane and her fingers could not lace up at the back. She pressed her face into the
nearest part of his fur and shook slightly.
'Thank you Evi.'
'It is my job to protect you Mistress from any evil. I'll go back to my pen now...'
That was it. He could not be left alone. A slight smile came onto her lips and she got unstably onto her feet.
'No, you're not going back to your pen. You're coming up to the castle with me.'
'But you said...'
'I know what I said and I'm willing to take the risk. I'll cast an invisibility spell on you or something. You'll have to wait in my
room while I do my rounds...'
Mynee knew she really should not be doing this, but he had just saved her life. Was she cold hearted enough to send him back
to his pen? Her heart, however still and dead it was, made the decision for her. She took her wand out of her robes and cast a
quick charm over her big dog thing. He disappeared and for a brief moment she thought she had done something wrong until
he bumped his head against her belly, stooping some so he could do this. She let out a breath she did not know she had taken
and latched her hand onto some of his shaggy fur.
'You're going to have to stick close to me, okay? If anyone gets to close, you need to get away. Okay?'
'Yes Mistress.'
She shook her head slowly and with her hand in his soft pelt, she led them out of the forest.
After Mynee had dropped Evi off in her room, narrowly avoiding a run in with Hannah who was not so discreetly leaving
Malfoy's rooms. She had very simply insulted the Head Girl with a crack towards her name and the blond haired bint ran out of
the common room, tears streaming down her face. Evi had been extremely confused by this, but had shut up at the tone his
mistress answered his question in. After she had dropped her familiar off, she started walking aimlessly through the halls. Once
again the thought that there really was not point in doing this struck her and she was horribly tempted to go right back up to her
room. Though what she would do in her room was another question entirely. Blood lust was beginning to thrum in her veins
again, but she did not want to attack any unknowing person wandering the halls like she was. She had already fed once, and
knew that once was enough for one day. She only hoped she would not kill her victim the next day...A thundering barrage of
noise assaulted her ears as she ran into a suit of armor. The metal pieces fell around her, slicing and bruising her skin. A hiss of
pain slipped from her lips as several small rivulets of sluggish black blood escaped her cuts. That just made her day even more
perfect. She shoved herself up and found herself face to face with somebody's wand point. She slowly raised her eyes and
stiffened. An irate Severus Snape was glaring at her, his wand trembling slightly in anger.
"Still clumsy are we? I would have thought all the detentions you received in your Fifth year would have cured you of your
habits. I suppose not... Fifty points from Gryffindor for disturbing the peace and a detention tomorrow with me." He smirked
nastily to her, for a moment revealing his yellowish teeth. He turned on his heel and in his own special, bat like way that
reminded her slightly of the way Evi walked, he stalked down the hall.
Once he was gone, Mynee let the shudders that she had bottled up within her chest out and started convulsing. When the
quivers passed she looked down at the mess she had made. Filch would deal with it later...And he would be pissed. A smirk
crossed her lips as she resumed her patrol. Who knows, maybe if she was lucky Filch would give her the detention. Would not
that be a splendid treat...A few more minutes of walking the halls later she returned to her room, eyes bleary. She had only done
half of her patrol, but then again she had missed the beginning half. Malfoy had the later shift and she be damned (again) if she
was going to do his work for him. Mynee slipped into the common room and paused for a moment when she heard a
considerable noise coming from the direction of her room. She walked quickly up and anger fizzed through her when she
noticed her door was opened a little. She shoved it open the rest of the way and let out a pissed off hiss. Malfoy was in her
room, cornered by a very visible Evi. Her familiar had his mouth open and was about to tear a chunk out of her mortal enemy's
face when she screamed loudly into both Malfoy and Evi's mind.
'Evig Sol stop right where you are!'
The thupalp froze and turned glowing coal eyes up at his mistress. He took a single step backwards and returned his now
glaring hues at the cowering Malfoy. Mynee strode forward, shooting an admonishing look at her familiar then turned to the
golden haired boy.
"Glemm hva De så. Glemm det til De vet det."
Malfoy's hard steel eyes relaxed, as did the crease in his brow. He slowly stood and wandered like a sleepwalker out of her
room towards his own. She shook her head slowly and turned her accusing eyes on Evi.
'Why in the Mother's name did you do that? You would have killed him!'
'He came into your room with your permission...'
'I don't care! You shouldn't have...He what??'
'He came into your room without your permission. He was talking to himself about how he needed to find something...'
'Did he take anything?'
'He was rummaging through that,' He pointed to her opened armoire. 'When I realized he shouldn't be here. You aren't angry
with me, are you?'
Mynee strode over and noticed that the drawer that contained her socks and knickers was opened. A growl erupted from her
throat and she whipped around.
"That disgusting little fuck was rummaging through my knickers! That's fucking revolting! I'm gonna have to wash everything in
there to get his ferrety fingerprints off them! This is just bloody BRILLIANT!" She shrieked this out loud, her voice echoing in the
small room. Due to the numerous spells she had put up around her room to block all in coming and out going noise, no one
heard her yell.
She yanked the drawer out of the armoire and overturned it over her bed. She threw the wooden container onto the floor and
grabbed her wand out of her robes. She sent every cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitizing spell she knew at her assortment of
knickers and socks, shuddering horribly whenever she thought he had been going through them. Evi watched in fascination until
he decided that his mistress had been going on her cleaning escapade long enough. He pushed her with his massive head, his
nose hitting a set of nerves causing her wand to drop out of her hand.
'Mynee, I think they're clean now...'
'How can they ever be clean now that he has befouled them with his touch?'
'I still say they're clean. They don't have his smell on them anymore.'
She looked at her pile of undergarments with a dubious stare for a moment then collected the wooden drawer. She returned her
knickers to it then popped it back into her armoire. She then sat on the edge of her bed and looked about her room. Evi
sprawled on top of her, a small portion of his belly resting on her lap, the rest of him on the bed and hanging off it. Mynee
absently stroked his soft fur as she left her thoughts drift and merge. There was something deep down inside of her that was
over the moon that Malfoy had been in her room of his own accord and had actually been through her KNICKERS. That was a
very, very small part of her and the larger part of her was horribly disgusted at that bit of her and quashed it in a single move.
She shuddered slightly and leaned back until her back hit her bed. She knew she should probably go to sleep, but she was just
so hungry....
'Mistress? Mistress you need to stop fighting your hunger. I should have probably told you when you accepted me as your
familiar that you can take my blood...'
'How can I stop fighting my hunger? I'm hungry and I want it to go away...'
'Then take my blood, it regenerates almost immediately. My health and life force plays off of yours...Except when you are on the
verge of death and I get a burst of energy to try and protect you for the last time...'
Mynee did not hear anything else her familiar had said. She swooped her head down upon his neck, her elongated canines
somehow finding the nearest artery and plunging into it. For several blissful moments she filled her belly with the peculiar taste
of blood that was not blood. Was not she supposed to be horridly allergic to dogs? Were not they supposed to hate her kind
with every fiber of their beings? Her questions were banished when the beginning pains of charley horses disappeared and a
euphoric flying sensation over took her. Her eyes were closed and the movie playing on her eyelids was that of a bird flying
high in the sky, floating on gusts of wind and dropping to the earth like a stone, only to be caught on the breeze and born back
up to the sky. Evi stirred slightly beneath her and Mynee slowly drew away. Two rivulets of blood streamed down her chin,
plinking onto his fur. She slowly wiped it away with the back of her hand, looking down at her familiar.
"That was damn weird..."
'It was different Mistress.'
"So I can feed off of you anytime I need it?"
'Yes Mynee, but you will occasionally need to feed off of a mortal or you will die. My blood does not contain all of the needed
nutrients your body needs.'
She squiggled out from underneath her familiar and seeped up to where the covers ended. She crawled beneath them and
rested her head on her pillow. Pleasant warmth suffused her body as sleep started to creep its fuzzy tendrils around her brain.
Just before she dropped into a deep sleep she felt Evi crawl up beside her and rest his head on her chest. A soft sigh escaped
her lips as an unneeded breath slipped from her lips. Her final thought before sleep claimed her in its loving embrace was: See,
life isn't all that bad...Something that would be tested over and over again in the next year to come.

bowled through the small crowd.
