Murder, Chapter Sixteen .
.
Mynee absently fingered the crease of the letter in her pocket, letting her feet take her up to the Owlery while her mind wandered. The
first Team practice was in three days and she was loathe to admit it to herself, but she was actually rather afraid. She did not like meeting a
bunch of new people all in one go and she doubted she would ever trust any of them as much as they deserved. The tip of one of her scuffed
Mary Jane's caught the rough lip of a stair and she lurched forward. Only her extremely honed Vampyre sense of balance kept her from tumbling. If
anyone had seen her, her body would have seemed far too lithe to be human. It would have appeared to snap back and a mortal's spine would
have let out an audible crack at being forced into such an uncomfortable position and that was only if it could even get into the position. She
stopped for a moment and leaned on the copper railing, her inactive heart painfully thumping several times. She stood there for a moment, waiting
for that particular organ to regain its dormant behavior. When the pain in her chest ceased, she looked up at the steps and wondered again like
she had that night in the hospital wing. She knew a little more about her kind. Should she try transporting herself around with her mind again? It
seemed like that Jacobith character could...She closed her eyes and pictured the familiar setting of the Owlery. A very faint puff of wind caressed
her skin and she opened her lids slowly. She unconsciously drew in a gasp of air. She was standing on the pellet and dropping covered straw floor
of the Owlery. Confusion flooded her veins as she looked at the array of birds. She saw Potter's Hedwig and smiled warmly up to the bird. No
matter how much she hated the owner, she would never hate the animal.
"Hello luv," she crooned quietly. "Would you mind taking a letter for me?"
The owl, which held no grudge against her, flew down from her perch onto Mynee's shoulder. She smiled warmly and offered the bird the letter.
Hedwig plucked it from her fingers and looked expectantly at her.
"I don't know exactly where it is, but can go fly that to Drakula's Castle? It's somewhere in Scotland...I think."
The bird hooted quietly and flew out the window. She looked at the white creature until it disappeared into the dark night sky, dwindling down to a
speck the size of a distant snowflake. She let out that breath from earlier in a soft sigh and leaned against the window.
There was a feeling deep down inside of her, rooted right next to her still heart, crying out to be heard. She needed to get away from this castle,
this strange castle where she was alone. Run as hard and fast as she could to her home, to the place where all Vampyres were welcome, Drakula's
Castle. She rubbed a hand against her eyes, her belly grumbling softly for something more substantial then solid food. Her cinnamon hues scanned
the dark grounds before her, all light being drawn to her so she could see better then before. Mynee knew she needed to feed on human blood
soon, but another night living of Evi's blood would not hurt, would it? The tree line was bereft of any large, hulking black shape and she heaved
another, louder sigh. She would have to actually leave the castle to get a meal and that was something she really did not want to do.
'I'll just feed in the morning.' She thought to herself.
'You know that's not a good idea...' Nebel reminded her softly.
'Yes, listen to Nebel. You'll attack someone tonight. Go out of the castle and feed off Evi. It's for your own good." Nall murmured quietly, its timid
voice hardly audible.
'No, no...Just because you're my conscience doesn't mean you know better then me.' A line she would soon come to regret.
Half an hour later or so, Mynee was taking the scenic route back towards her dormitory. She was in the Entrance Hall, when she heard a soft noise
coming from a dark corner. She drew her wand from a pocket in her robes and quickly cast a light giving charm. The area was illuminated and what
she saw shocked her. Ginny Weasley and Colin Creevy were snogging like there was no tomorrow and she was pretty sure Ginny's skirt was rapidly
being hiked up her thighs.
"What is the meaning of this?? It is past curfew and you aren't even allowed to do this during the day! For the sake of the small children, if you
are going to shag in the middle of the night, please do so in an abandoned classroom! Twenty points from Gryffindor from both of you!"
Ginny drew away from Colin as his eyes widened and quickly scampered away, up in the direction of Gryffindor Tower.
"What the fuck, Bunny? Couldn't you see I was a little busy??"
"I could tell all right, one of the reasons I broke you two up. Honestly, I thought you were nutters over Potter."
The ginger haired girl snorted. "Like hell I am. Potter is a good shag, but he's a bit too emotionally attached to me. He's with me until I find
something better."
Mynee had no love for Potter in her heart, but when the little sister of his only best friend was cheating on him with Colin Creevy of all people, she
knew a little justice was in order. "You little bitch...With Creevy of all people? I could understand Dean or even Neville, but Creevy?"
"Don't call me a bitch, you bitch!"
"Aren't we eloquent?"
"What the fuck?"
"I know what I can give you for your birthday...a dictionary! It'll do wonders to improve your speech."
Ginny let out an angry hiss and lunged at Mynee, her hands outstretched. Her catlike nails scrapped across Mynee's throat, causing her black
blood rise to the surface and dribble onto her robes. Ginny faltered at the sight of the obsidian liquid, stumbling backwards.
"What the hell?!?"
Mynee, who barely felt the pain, let the anger that was boiling up inside of her take over. Her eyes flooded red and her canines elongated, the
sharp points glistening in the flickering torchlight. "I think you know exactly what the hell is going on Weasley. I don't think I need to explain at
all."
It dawned suddenly upon the other girl, Hermione Granger was the murderess who had killed those three men down in Hogsmeade...And she was a
Vampire?
"H-How...I don't understand..."
"You don't understand a lot of things my pet, but they will all be revealed to you if you just look into my eyes...Don't be afraid pet, nothing will
happen to you if you just look into my eyes." Her voice was thick with the alien magic her kind possessed, silently forcing the other girl to look into
her fiery hues.
Ginny raised her eyes from the black blood seeping from the cuts and met Mynee's gaze, her body immediately loosening and stilling, much like she
was asleep.
"Good girl, you did wonderfully. Now just come to me and I'll whisper the answers to the universe into your ear."
Ginny walked over to her like a sleep walker, obediently going into Mynee's arms like a dog. "Well done pet..."
Mynee's face took on the look of a hunter as she lowered her mouth to Ginny's neck and plunged her fang's into the girl's pulsating artery. Hot,
sweet, salty liquid flooded her mouth as she hungrily fed; lost in the rush of sensations and memories she was received. Ginny began to struggle
almost immediately, the magic wearing off quickly. She emitted several quick cries of pain, loud enough to alert anyone relatively close, then she
quieted down, probably for good. All too soon the steady stream began to dwindle and she knew she had to pull away before the last drop was
taken or her soul would be dragged along with the parting one. She dropped the rapidly stiffening body and grabbed her wand off of the floor. She
knew Ginny's screams had alerted someone and she had to make it look like she was a murder victim. She transfigured the tip of her wand into a
razor and slit the dead girl's throat, nearly decapitating her in the process. She looked at the thin blade for a moment the quickly swiped it across
part of her own, cutting it enough to make it look like she had almost been a victim. Before she let herself fall to the floor, she cast a charm to
make her black blood red and them crumpled to the stone with a fake shriek of pain and terror. Her now regular wand rolling away from her finger
tips into shadows. She did not catch much after hearing someone run up to where she and Ginny were and screaming for help.
.
"Will she be all right Professor?" A concerned student with a very familiar voice asked urgently
"I'm not sure Mr. Malfoy, I truly hope so." That was definitely Dumbledore's voice...
.
"Albus, do you really think it was that murderer from the village? That killed Miss Weasley and tried to kill Miss Granger?"
"I do not know Poppy...I do not know..."
.
"Hermione, please wake up...Please..." It was that familiar student again, who was it? Definitely a male...
.
Mynee groaned quietly and cracked open a lid. An obscene amount of light attacked her eye accustomed to darkness. A cry of pain burst
from her.
"Bloody fucking hell!" She screeched loudly, her hands flying up to cover her eyes.
Somebody chuckled close to her and the light dimmed considerably. She brought her hands away from her face, her eyes scrunched up just in
case. She saw the twinkling blue hues of Dumbledore's eyes and let out a groan.
"Merlin, what do you want?"
"Good morning to you too Miss Granger. You just so happen to be in the Hospital Wing, recovering from a murder attempt." His eyes actually
started twinkling more.
"A what attempt??"
"A murder attempt, Miss Granger. You were in the Entrance Hall with Miss Weasley when you were both attacked. She was not as lucky as you
are."
She faked horror and clapped a hand to her mouth. "Ginny's dead? As in deceased, pushing up the daises, bit the dust, and joined the choir
invisible?"
"Yes Miss Granger, that's exactly what I mean." He said kindly.
A small, ever so slightly pink tear welled up in the corner of her eye and dribbled down her cheek. "That's horrible...It should have been me...I'm
older..."
Dumbledore leaned forward and gently patted her shoulder, a kind expression on his old face. "Now don't you think that Hermione. Neither of you
should have died two days ago."
Her eyes widened slightly. The first Quidditch practice was that night! She pushed herself into a sitting position, a frantic look on her face.
"What? I've been out of it for two days?" She squawked.
"Yes, I do not see why it is so important, but it is three o'clock on Thursday afternoon."
She had little over three hours. She turned her face up to Dumbledore, a plaintively begging look in her eyes. "Professor?"
"Yes Hermione?"
"I have Quidditch practice today..."
"I don't think you'll be able to go. You are supposed to be recovering from a near death experience."
"But I'm a fast healer! Look, I bet there's not even a scar on my neck..."
(AN: I know Mynee probably wouldn't argue with Dumbledore, but think about the situation. She just woke up from being unconscious for two days
and it's the very first Quidditch practice. She really, really, really wants to go. I bet you'd argue with your Head...Especially if he/she/it was as nice
as Dumbledore...) The elderly man looked at the girl in front of him. He knew he should probably make her stay in bed, but then again she was not a
human and her kind did heal much faster then his. There were plenty of excuses he could come up with that would make it seem like Poppy had
healed her extra quickly so she could get to that practice. He let out a sigh, his blue eyes still twinkling slightly.
"All right Ms Granger, you may go. But first, I have to add a little something to your school robes. Now that you are technically a member of the
Hufflepuff house, below your Gryffindor crest a smaller Hufflepuff one will be added." He moved his wand, which had miraculously appeared in his
hand, in a complex gesture.
The robes that had been folded up on the table beside her bed, Gryffindor crest facing upwards, sudden were graced with a small, additional crest.
Mynee looked at them dubiously for a moment then back up at Dumbledore who seemed to be about to say something.
"You also have a pair of canary yellow robes for when you compete, those should be hanging up in your room somewhere. If anyone asks you,
which they're bound to do, about what this person who attacked you look like, do not tell them. Though I have a feeling you wouldn't anyway."
She looked at him for a moment, her brain taking its time to comprehend what he said. Her eyes widened slightly and the man smiled slightly too
her as if he did not look down on the fact that he knew she had murdered four people. He got up from the chair beside her bed. Just as he was
about to leave her little enclosed area, he spoke to her.
"Draco Malfoy has been hovering around you ever since he found you covered in your own blood. I suspect he's out there now. Would you like to
see him?"
She barely had to think about that. She nodded quickly and moments later a tired, but worried Draco burst into the small space. It seemed strange
to a distant part of her that she had hated the blond Slytherin so fiercely but a week ago, and now his very presence in her life made her happier
then she had been in a long, long time.
"Draco." She croaked quietly, holding her arms out to him to be hugged.
He strode over to her and pulled her tightly into his embrace, her face burying in his shoulder. "I thought I'd lost you...Don't you ever do that again
Hermione Granger."
A slight laugh made her for tremble as she shook her head. "I don't think I ever want to do that again Draco, it hurt..."
"What did he look like? I'm going to rip his fucking head off..."
Mynee forced herself to let out a quiet whimper as if it pained her to remember the face of her attacker. "I don't remember...It was so dark I
couldn't see anything."
He sighed softly and held her closely to him, rocking them slowly. He kissed the top of her head lightly, covering her hair in butterfly kisses. "Never
mind then, I'll get him later when you remember. You just sleep now."
"I'm not going back to sleep Draco, I'm all healed up..."
"What?" He squawked, sounding much like she had not moments before.
"I'm a fast healer. Combine that with Pomfrey's medicine, I'm all better now."
"All better?" He repeated blankly.
"Yes, better enough that I can go to Quidditch practice after dinner."
"Quidditch practice?" He nearly shouted. She should not be hurtling after a tiny golden ball two days after she was nearly killed, no matter how
fast she healed! "Hermione no! You'll hurt yourself again! I won't let you go! I forbid it!"
She froze in his arms for a moment, and then jerked herself away from him. They had been together, for what? Three days and he was already
lording over her. The anger that had afflicted her two days ago came back when he acted like he owned her.
"Excuse me? You forbid me to go? Since when did you become my keeper? I can do whatever the hell I want and no one, not even you, can stand
in my way." She grabbed her robes off the table and slipped out of the bed, wobbling momentarily.
She threw the garments over her shoulders and strode angrily out of the Hospital Wing, an amazing feat for a mortal; something a Vampyre would
consider an everyday task. Draco was left half kneeling by her empty bed, forced to think about another idiotic thing he had done on the behalf of
Hermione.

Well then, short but Mynee's first murder of someone she once cared about. How many more will come? Who knows...Except for me...Remember, the more reviews I get, the faster I post! Oh yeah, I made a mistake on the previous episode. I said that my new fic, Eldritch High, was a DM/HG fic. It's not! It's an eventual DM/OC one...That doesn't mean it's not good!

as Dumbledore...) The elderly man looked at the girl in front of him.
