Summary: "It all blurs together until Dawn is Buffy because Dawn is blonde now after all"
Dawn is dangerous. Her hair is blonde and sweeps around her shoulders, matching her painted on smile. She tells him that she eats boys like him for dinner and means it. He takes her to dinner and he laughs nervously. Dawn thinks it's funny because she doesn't remember him as nervous. She remembers Buffy making out with him, loudly, in the room beside Dawn's and thinking she was so clever because Mom didn't know. Angel looks at Dawn as though he is seeing a ghost. She purses her lips together in the way that Buffy did and watches his confusion grow. It's cute, she decides.
She is sure that he knows she has changed and can't help but wonder why he's still treating her as Buffy's kid sister. Dawn laughs, stroking the cool glass filled with blood red wine and casually lets a strap of her dress fall down. His eyes slide over her skin and Dawn thinks this is entirely too easy. She watches the way his muscles clench when she reminds him of Buffy and she smirks at the way he relishes his food. He sips his wine and she bets he's a lightweight because he's only been human for a year and surely two hundred years plus of being unaffected by alcohol must mean it has an effect on him now. This too is cute. He's a big fluffy puppy with no teeth and Dawn can't help but laugh.
He brings up Buffy even though she's been cold in her grave for years now. Dawn supposes she should still care but after Buffy jumped none of them could look at her. She supposes she should feel awful for blaming Buffy, for hating Buffy, but she doesn't because it was all long ago. Dawn barely even thinks of her nowadays. She's so over it and she wishes Angel would get over it too. She hears he had a thing with Cordelia a while back but then Cordy got hit by untimely death (like getting hit by a bus but more sudden) and it's all ohsotragic that it's funny. Dawn is sure she can make everything okay for him and she smiles as he gets the bill.
He is seemingly too tired (of life and everything) to care that little Dawnie (who is no longer a little girl) has her arm wrapped around his waist. She gets him to walk her home, giving him directions and making jokes as they go, and Angel places an awkward kiss on her cheek, telling him to take care. She can sense his relief as he pulls away because she makes him nervous.
So Dawn giggles and says, "No, you take care".
Really, he's the one who needs to because Dawn is just peachy keen these days. She has never felt this good and she leans a little closer and kisses him, knowing he won't resist. He looks at her and he sees Buffy but that's okay, she can change that. She will change that. She feels him begin to pull away because of course this is wrong and she's Buffy's little sister for godsakes. Her sister, her blood, her daughter...it all blurs together until Dawn is Buffy because Dawn is blonde now after all and Angel slips a hand into her hair and she knows he is pretending. She merely kisses him harder, her teeth settling into his lip and he is helpless. She lets him kiss her like he is in control for a few seconds.
Then Dawn wraps an arm around his neck, rubs ridges against his cheek and moves her lips down to his throat. He tenses but he knew from the start. Dawn showed up in her low cut black dress with her new hair and new smile and it must have been obvious. He may be human now but he's not stupid (and if he is he won't be stupid for much longer). Dawn never came face to face with Angelus but she's sure the whole experience will be pretty bitchin'. Angel begins to struggle...she supposes it is human instinct (which he must have picked up fast)...but Dawn does not stop. It is his own fault for still missing Buffy. She is newly blonde and newly dangerous and so she carries on biting him because she really does eat boys like him for dinner.
