Hufflepuff vs. Slytherin, Chapter Twenty Five
.
.
A week passed since the interruption of the Halloween Dance, and all of the students vowed that they would never forget the furious look
on Dumbledore's face when they arrived at breakfast the next day. He was appalled that Fudge had the audacity to burst into his school and wave
goblets of blood under his student's noses. Mynee on the other hand really could not care less about what had happened, she was too worked up
about the Hufflepuff vs. Slytherin Quidditch match in the first week of November. Smoke had them training insanely hard because he thought 'they
were not good enough and would have their asses kissed by the snakes of the school.' He was clearly nutters in her eyes, although she really did
want to win and therefore beat her boyfriend in the sport he blathered on about when he was not snogging her or eating. She raked her hands
through her hair as she stared at her diary. It was late on Saturday night and Draco had spent the entire day bugging her, telling her that Slytherin
would win the House Cup. That in itself did not annoy her, but when that was coupled with Potter almost breaking her right arm by attempting
hitting her femur hard enough to shatter the bone. A slight shiver ran through her at the thought as she unconsciously rubbed the bruise, her brow
furrowing. She could hardly believe that she had at one point in time been his best friend. She did not understand how she had not seen past his
horrible façade and seen the true person within. She started gnawing on one of her nails as she wrote down what had happened in the past couple
days, wishing she could get the same feeling of having her emotions being washed away like she did when she mutilated her arm by writing her
problems down. She had stopped cutting herself when she and Draco had become a proper couple, but there were still those times in the cold,
lonely darkness of the night when she felt so lost and hopeless when that sliver of razor sharp metal in the bathroom sung a particularly haunting,
yet oh so tempting song. She dropped the quill onto the spine of the book and closed the cap on her bottle of ink. She felt a little better, but that
itching feeling that told her something would go wrong soon refused to give her break. She had gotten the same feeling a few weeks before that
night she had been bitten, then again the same night and she hoped that nothing cataclysmic would occur. Her fragile hold on sanity would not be
able to stand it. She sighed very quietly as she dropped the book and ink into a drawer of her nightstand, slipping off of the bed. She swayed
slightly for a moment then picked up her school robes from the foot of her bed. Mynee did not think she would be able to sleep for some time,
slumber would not let her take hold of its elusive coat tails and she was forced to wander the halls. She quietly slipped out of the Common Room,
not wishing to wake up those below her or Draco who she in all actuality was not sure if he was asleep. He had a habit to rouse himself around two
in the morning and then wander the halls until it was time to get dressed in his uniform. She pulled her robes tighter around herself as she walked
quietly down to the kitchens. It was always nice and warm there and the house elves were always cooking, despite the time of day. She gently
tickled the big pair and stepped inside, a shocking sight awaiting her. She let out a little gasp when she saw Parkinson throw herself at Draco.
Draco on the other hand had a look of horror on his face and trying to bat her away, yelling at her that he did not like her. Luckily, neither of them
had seen her standing in the door way and continued their spat.
"But Draggie...You said loved me!" The pug faced girl wailed.
"What? When did I ever say that? I do not even like you. I have a girlfriend whom I love deeply and she most definitely is not you."
"But Draco!" She howled, trying to grab handfuls of his robes.
Mynee snorted quietly and strode towards the groveling girl. Draco saw her and his eyes widened. He looked like he was about to say something,
but she completely ignored him and grabbed Parkinson by the hair.
"What the hell do you think you're doing Parkinson? Draco is mine." She jerked her head with ever word.
The kneeling girl screeched loudly and lashed out behind her. "Get off of me you bitch! Draco is mine!"
Draco on the other hand was watching the two girls fight over him with a slight smirk. He was rather used to this, but when his girlfriend turned her
clearly livid eyes up on him, he wiped the grin off of his lips.
"Draco if you don't tell this bint the truth, Goddess help me, I will castrate you as you sleep."
His eyes widened as he looked down at the fluttering eye lashes of Parkinson and clearly shuddered. "Pansy, listen cause I'm only gonna say this
once. I. Do. Not. Like. You. I love Hermione and there's nothing you can do about it."
The girl suddenly burst into tears and Mynee let go of her hair, watching her run out of the Kitchens. She snorted darkly and walked over to him,
her eyes slowly returning to normal.
"Honestly Hermione, I don't know..."
He was interrupted by her hands swinging up and slapping him hard on the cheek, her eyes dark. "I'm not angry at you Draco; you just need to
learn that I refuse to share you with whatever whore you desire to spend the night with. I'm sorry that I'm ready to shag you yet, but you'll just
have to wait until I am." Her voice was cold. "I'll understand if you wish to cut off our relationship now." Her eyes drifted down to the floor.
There was utter silence for a moment, excluding the noises the house elves made, before he wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her up
against him in a tight hug. "Oh Mya, how can you think that? I haven't slept with anyone since...I don't actually remember it was so long ago. I
don't want to break up with you. I love you and a Malfoy loves only once in their lifetime. Too bad for you, but you're stuck with me."
She suddenly smiled vividly up to him, her doubts erased for the present moment. Her arms encircled his neck as she pressed her lips against his.
The kiss was chaste for only a moment before it erupted with Draco's fierce protectiveness and love exploded in the kiss. Her legs buckled slightly
and she was extremely glad of his strong arms around her waist, keeping them from tumbling over. When she pulled her mouth away from his to
take in a gasp of air, pretending to need it. She smiled warmly and rested her head against his chest.
"So why'd you come down here?" Draco asked softly, running a few of his fingers through her hair.
"I didn't have anything else to do and I wanted to bake something. I'm kind of nervous about tomorrow."
"Why? You're a great seeker; you have nothing to be worried about."
"I'm not worried about myself; I'm concerned about you...What if you get hit with a bludger or fall off your broom?" She looked up at him with
anxious eyes.
Draco let out a soft laugh and gave her a squeeze. "About me? I'm so touched love."
She scowled up at him and gently pulled out of his embrace. She was starting to feel a little tired. "I'm going back up to bed..."
"I though you wanted to bake something?"
"Yeah, I don't want to anymore. I'll do it tomorrow night, but only if Hufflepuff wins."
"What?? Why won't you do it if I win?"
"Because then that would be an incentive for you to win, wouldn't it? But if I promise to back something if I win, then it would be an
encouragement for you to loose? Eh, what about it?"
He simply raised one of his brows. "No."
"Bastard."
"Yes, I'm called that quite a lot."
"Shut up and good night." She grumbled, turning on her heel and striding out.
Mynee woke up late. She looked at the flashing lights on her alarm clock and let out a high pitched shriek of horror. She had exactly fifteen
minutes to dress and get down to the Hufflepuff dugout for the pre-game talk. She tumbled out of bed and simply threw on a pair of jeans a shirt,
grabbing her canary yellow game robes before flinging herself out of the room. As she sprinted down the labyrinthine hallways of Hogwarts, she
could not help but notice that she had a painfully annoying boy band song stuck in her head. She had never been able to keep track of them all,
but decided early on her life that she would never be one of those simpering girls who covered their walls in pictures and posters of the ugly boys
and literally worshiped them. They never seemed to understand that these bands were famous for oh, about two seconds before they died like all
those before them. She flew over the grass towards the pitch, for once seriously glad that breathing was not a necessity. If it was, she would
have been in some serious pain due to the slightly aching pain of a stitch in her side. She slid into the dugout, putting on the face that she was
gasping for breath. She held onto her sides as she heard someone start clapping. She lifted her eyes from the floor and saw Furion smirking at her,
not even trying to silence is guffaws of laughter. She scowled angrily at him and kicked him hard in the shins when she got close enough.
"You are evil, please go bugger a sheep."
He grinned at her. "I might just do that."
She shuddered and hit him upside the head. "You be quiet, I don't want to hear about that. My ears are still quite virginal."
"But not for long."
"What?" She squawked as she sat down next to him.
"By the way your oh so lovely and attractive man has been staring at you, your 'virgin ears' won't be so pure and virginal for long."
She squeaked and smacked his arm. "That's disgusting."
"You asked."
"Shadup." She muttered getting up to grab her broom and padding from her locker.
When she came back she dropped the splinter of wood and twigs onto the floor and gear into her friend's lap.
"You're helping me put this shit on, too hard for my ickle little self to do it by myself."
He glared at her for a moment then went to help her get the chest piece over her head, then buckle it far too tightly to be comfortable for any
female.
"Furion!" She squeaked. "Bastard, looser!"
He giggled in her ear and made it tighter. "NO!" She hollered a feat no having their lungs crushed is supposed to be able to do.
After a moment he loosened it up enough for her to be able to turn around, padding still on her, and bite his shoulder hard. He was lucky she was
not hungry at the moment and just meant to inflict pain upon. It was his turn to gasp as he felt several of her teeth puncture his flesh.
"What are you, a bloody Vampire?"
She smirked, flashing her perfect teeth at him. "Nope! Perfectly normal!" 'In my own mind.' She added to herself.
He scowled at her and rapidly helped her put on the rest of her gear. "There, be gone you foul, loathsome, evil little cockroach."
(AN: That seem familiar?)
"I'm sorry, I can't be a cock...roach Furion. I'm ill equipped." She kept a straight face until he burst into hysterical laughter.
She leaned heavily on him as she giggled, tears gathering in the corners of her eyes and streaming down her face in black lines. When he managed
to catch his breath and take a look at her, he was sent back into guffaws of glee.
"Holy Merlin...You...Badger..."
"Huh?" Her laugher disappeared until she conjured a mirror and took a look at her face.
For a moment she was silent, and then promptly fell off the bench as she started sobbing again due to the pain in her lungs and the hilarity of
everything. Their little moment was interrupted by Smoke clearing his throat, looking at them with a disapproving glare.
"Stop it right now; is this going to become a habit?"
She looked at him and let out another stream of giggles. "N-Yes!" She stuffed some of her robes into her mouth to shut herself up once she took
her seat beside Furion. Her friend took one look at her stripy pale face and let out a howl of laughter. She heard the beginnings of his chuckles and
that set her off again. The two of them leaned heavily on the other as they both started crying, the first time for Furion and the second or third
time for her. It was not until Smoke took out his wand and cleaned her face with a flick of his wand before they managed to be quiet for more then
a few seconds. He glared at the two of them, and then strode in front of the entire team.
"I know we've been practicing our asses off, but if we can just beat Slytherin, we're almost guaranteed a spot in the finals. Win for me, for
yourselves, but most of all, win for the team. For many of you, this is your last year at Hogwarts, and don't you want to win the Cup? Hufflepuff
hasn't won in almost three decades; don't you want to be the ones to beat that record? I know practices have been hell, but it's for the cup. Let's
win this year."
The six people in front of him let out a yell and started clapping their hands, the sparks of victory lit within them. Mynee stared at him with a fire
of dislike gleaming in her hues. No matter what he said, he would always be the guy who hit on her and did not understand that she despised him.
She crossed her arms beneath her chest and rested her head on Furion's shoulder, muttering quietly into his ear.
"So, how did Smoke get to be Captain? You hate him, I loathe him and we make up the majority of the team."
He snorted quietly. "Oh yeah, two sevenths of the team is really the majority. Perhaps if we somehow were able to split ourselves in half and then
our other halves killed two people on the team and took their places, then we'd be the majority...But just by our onesies."
Her head shot off of him as she looked at him. "When did you watch that movie?"
"Summer...He is so hot, I can see why..."
"Shadup, I don't want to hear your fantasies."
"Aww, you sure?"
"More then positive. Whoops, there goes Smoke and that infernal glare of his. Should be shut up, or keep talking?"
"Keep talking and see if he blows a gasket or something."
"Good idea meh dear."
"I know, I came up with it."
"Egotistical jerk."
"Bookish prude."
"Hey, don't insult the books."
"I'll insult them all I want to! Stupid damn bloody buggery books!"
"God, you are one of the biggest idgits I have ever seen Furion."
"And don't I know it!"
"Shut up you two!" Smoke hollered, his eyes nearly popping from his face. "Why can't you two just be silent? If either of you say one more word..."
She and Furion looked at each other and smirked nastily. "Word." They said in unison.
He looked at them and then simply walked towards the door. The rest of the team snickered, got up, and followed the caption. The two of them
soon followed, waiting for their names could be called so the damn game could start.
Soon after Mynee flew up into the sky and hovered there, keeping her eyes peeled for that gleaming ball of gold, Draco flew up close
enough to talk to her.
"Hello."
"Draco, bugger off. I've got enough on my mind without having to talk to you."
"Oh I'm wounded Hermione. Look, look at that blood pouring out of me."
"You mean the senseless drabble pouring out of your mouth?"
"Touché."
She snorted and flew away from him, she nearly shaking from the effort of keeping herself from checking her boyfriend for any serious bodily harm.
She did not understand why she kept getting that feeling considering the fact that she had one eye on him the entire time. She shook herself both
mentally and physically and tightened her hold on her broom. She felt a gust of air brush by her and she almost feel. She whipped her head around
and glared forcefully at Draco who had intentionally zoomed past her to unnerve her.
"Draconis Agamemnon Nickolas Malfoy!" She shrieked at him, her eyes flaring red.
Whoever was doing the commentary for the game must have seen him shoot passed her and was jabbering away. She set her jaw in a nasty smirk
and then angled her broom downwards and shot off towards the ground. He was instantly on her tail, he never heard her giggle evilly as she pulled
up seconds before her 'fragile' body slammed into the earth. The crowds all hissed and she barely heard someone, probably the commentator,
speak.
"The Hufflepuff seeker feinted! Well done Granger!"
Mynee snorted darkly and flew back up above everyone else, her brown eyes scanning the pitch for any hint of gold. Her team scored several
times and she smiled faintly, keeping her attention on the field. Close to ten uneventful minutes later, that ball shot at her head and she let out a
screech of surprise. She had been wondering why it had not been fluttering around her for the entire game. It shoot off below her and in her need
to catch it, she hooked a knee around her broom. She took a deep breath and let her body drop, all of her weight being supported by a single leg.
The crowds let out a scream as she snatched for it, her face erupting into an exultant grin as her fist closed over that damn snitch. Just as she
was about to heave her weight back onto her broom, she felt her leg beginning to slip, her eyes widening. In almost slow motion, she saw her knee
unclench and her hold on her broom completely disappear. The piece of wood rapidly began to get smaller and she realized she was falling, again.
Her mind silently cursed her bad habits and readied itself for astounding pain. She was extremely surprised when someone caught her, holding her
tightly against their chest like she was something precious. She turned her gaze up and saw Draco looking down at her in concern.
"You okay?"
Her face erupted into a massive smile and wrapped her arms around his neck. She planted a kiss on his cheek, deciding not to display too much
emotion in public, and nodded. "Yep! Thank you for saving me luv! Now I get to bake..."
He scowled at her and flew up so they could retrieve her broom. When they drew level with it, she broke away from him and settled her rump on
the piece of wood. She smirked at him and soared down to where her team were all waiting to congratulate her. The moment her feet touched the
ground, she was snatched up into a tight hug by Furion, who kissed her face several times.
"Oh I love you so much Hermione! We get to go into the Finals now!"
"AH! Lemme go you perv!" She hollered, hitting him with her broom as she clutched the struggling snitch in her hand.
"I'm not a pervert!" He squawked as he tried to evade her blows, eventually realizing he had to let go of her and then dodging behind Illidan, who
looked at the two with raised brows.
She leaned against her broomstick and handed the snitch to Smoke, grinning evilly to her friend. "You know I'll just kick your ass later Furion,
right?"
He mock glared at her and flicked her off over Capulet's shoulder, muttering something under his breath.
Mynee giggled at the gesture. "What was that my dear friend? You wouldn't be insulting me, would you?"
"Of course not my sweet! I'd never think of it!"
"Good, or I would have thrown you into the lake and laugh as the Great Squid tried to shag you."
"OH! That is not a picture I need in my mind right now!" He hollered, coming out from behind Illidan and poking in the shoulder.
"Too bad, how much you wanna bet it's all ready there?"
He scowled and slung his arm around her shoulder. "Shet up you insolent cow."
"Naw...Come on, let's go party!"
They both started giggling and she never saw the jealous look flooding onto Draco's face as he watched his much beloved girlfriend walk off with a
boy he was sure did not prefer the sex he said he did.

not even trying to silence is guffaws of laughter.
