Gone, Chapter Thirty Three
.
.
As spring gave life back to the hills about Hogwarts, crisp March was drawing to a quick end. The N.E.W.T.S. were looming dangerously
close on the horizon and all the Seventh year students were being piled with enough homework to cause a series of complete nervous break
downs. Mynee sat on one of the several couches in the common room, a number of books spread out on the floor in front of her. One was resting
on her lap as she skimmed through it, searching fruitlessly for a single fact that would complete her Potions essay. She let out an aggravated sigh
and threw the tome onto the carpet, her quill following soon after. She drew her feet up underneath her and sat on the backs of them, raking her
hands through her frizzing hair.
"I hate this! I can't do this any blood more! It's only March and I already feel like I need to go dunk my head in the lake." She groaned.
She sat there like that for a few more minutes before picking her book gingerly up from the floor and started studying again.
A person clad in black clothing crept into Draco's room, a snicker barely present on its face. It went over to his bed and set the thing it had
been clutching to its chest down onto the covers.
"Let's see you two stay together after this..."
For a moment the book's cover glowed with a faint luminescent light before it turned to about the half way mark. It turned it over so the spine was
facing upwards and then crept out of the darkness of the room, a sinister grin on its face.
Draco walked nonchalantly into his room and was extremely surprised to find an open book lying face down on his bed. His brow furrowed
slightly as he walked over and picked it up. There was something familiar about the soft sheen the hide that it had been bound possessed that
reminded him of something he had seen not too long before. He shook his head slowly and turned it right side up so he could read what was written
on the pages.
.
March 22nd 1998
I cannot believe how oblivious Draco is to everything that is going on around him! We've been dating for the better part of this year, which is
truly a feat, and he has never even noticed that I've hardly been the faithful partner he thinks I am! I know I sound like a complete bitch, but I
just don't have the heart to break up with him. I'm quite sure we'll end up getting married once we graduate and then I'll be able to take his
money and marry Furion. He is such a wonderful and intelligent man. It was extremely ingenious of him to spread the rumor that he was gay. It's
really made us having a relationship so much easier...Anyway, I should probably go back to studying for the N.E.W.T.S. now.
Until next time,
Hermione.
.
The book fell from his numb fingers back onto his bed. There was a hideous roaring in his ears as his mind processed what he had just read. His
Hermione, the light that kept him from going to the dark, the one woman he had ever truly loved, had been cheating on him for the better part of
their relationship with that fucking imposter Furion. He swallowed slowly as the last bit of his rational thoughts disappeared, lost in the tidal wave
of hate, anger, and sickening betrayal. He snatched the diary up from where he had dropped it and strode down to the common room where he
had last seen her. She was still sitting on the couch, chewing on the tip of her quill as she thought up the next line she would write in her essay.
That face of innocence had fooled him countless times, but he knew about the whore who resided behind it. He strode over to her and threw the
leather bound book onto her lap.
"How could you Granger?!?" He asked coldly, his silver eyes loosing all trace of warm blue.
Mynee looked up from the text book in her lap, confusion painted on her face. "What are you talking about Draco? I haven't..." Her eyes caught
some of the words in the diary.
She let out a soft gasp that sounded exactly like a confession to him. "You never had the heart to break up with me? Well I'm just so touched that
you loved me enough to keep from hurting me you whore."
Her eyes widened as she pushed the things off of her lap and rose to her feet, her soft brown hues wide. "I never wrote that! I would never cheat
on you Draco! How could you ever even think that about me? Have I ever shown any signs of ever being unfaithful to you?"
He scowled at her. "I think that little book of yours is more than enough proof of your late night escapades. I don't ever want to see or talk to you
again."
Her cinnamon brown eyes sparkled with sudden, unshed tears as she reached a hand out to gently cradle his cheek. "Draco, love, please...I didn't
do anything!" He voice was slightly hysterical.
He sneered coldly at her and hit her palm away from him with a fist. "You have no right to call me either of those names Mudblood. Go scurry away
to the filthy hole in which you were born."
Her lower lip trembled until she bit it, her hand flying up and connected hard with the cheek she had tried to touch so tenderly a second before.
"I can't believe you Malfoy. After everything I've given up for you..."
"You were nothing more then a fling. Something to keep me occupied until something far better came along."
"Oh and something better would be Pansy? That slut is just so much better then me, I mean she's just slept with every boy old enough to know
what sex is in the school." Mynee's voice was frigid.
The two other prefects were crouched at the top of their stairs, watching the feud with eager eyes. No one would ever say that Hermione Granger
did not go down with a fight.
"You keep your mouth off of her Granger, at least she won't cheat on me."
"Course she won't, she'll just have some 'flings' when you're busy."
His hand mirrored the action hers had earlier and a very quiet gasp escaped from her lips. Her hand flew up to her stinging cheek, a single tear
escaping her eyes. "You bastard." She whispered, agony in her tone.
Draco just smirked at her. Mynee kicked him hard in the groin and watched him collapse in a trembling heap on the ground before her.
"You are no better than the dirty littler ferret Moody turned you into." She ripped her wand out from her robes and rolled him onto his stomach.
She ripped the back of his simple, but well made, white shirt so his left shoulder blade was revealed. "You will forever be hated by my kind. The
Odio will never leave your skin, no matter how deep you cut." Her voice lowered until only he could hear her. "Too bad you screwed with the heart
of a Vampyre." She waved her wand in a complex gesture and a peculiar symbol appeared on his pale flesh.
She shoved her wand back into her robes and glowered down at him, tears streaming freely down her cheeks. She turned on her heel and strode
towards the door, stopped when it burst open. Furion bounced in and the moment he saw her wet face, he wrapped his arms around her. He pulled
her into a tight hug, his lips pressed against her faintly fragrant hair. When Draco was able to get up onto his feet, he saw the woman he still loved
wrapped up in the arms of the man she had slept with. His mercurial hues met blue and Furion's had a sudden glimmer of triumph. He mouthed
something over the crying girl's shoulder.
"She's mine now."
Draco's face contorted in rage as he strode out of the common room. The moment the portrait snapped into place, Mynee let out a hysterical cry
and turned her pained eyes up to her closet friend.
"I'm alone..." She whispered in a heart broken tone.
"No you aren't. I'm here for you."
An agonized sob left her as she buried her head back into his shoulder, all the while whispering.
"You lied to me Draco...You lied to me. You're gone."
A slow month and a half passed and Mynee came to a horrible conclusion. She, for the second time in less then an hour, was on her knees
before a toilet, heaving her guts out. She clapped a hand against her mouth as the agony of being without the one she truly loved hit her again.
The last time Draco had ever kissed her, a child was begotten and she would now have to pay the consequences.
